Steel Dragon
Steel Dragon is the debut novel in the Steel Dragon series. Kristen is a daughter to a cop, and that’s all she knows until she finds out she’s a foundling, and the Halls never told her. The book is the story of Kristen coming to terms with real identity.
Dragons are everywhere, and their claws range from government to the family in all human life aspects. Kristen is almost throwing a wrench into the entire dragon world because she’s also a dragon, but she hasn’t realized it yet.
The difference is that she’s a dragon brought up by a human. After Kristen graduated from the academy, she was taken direct into the SWAT team, and people are so confused since a rookie has never been in SWAT.
Her dragon powers begin to come out, and now the facts of their machinations are clear. How did Kristen become a dragon yet she has human parents? Can Kristen face the challenges of her new life?
The mage uprising had been put down, but that didn’t seem enough. Dragons are now aware that humans can harm themselves with weapons that are too dangerous to the dragon kind too. They now live in fear of humans for the first time, and they hate the feeling.
War is now at their doorstep, and Lord Boneclaw will be the leader of the dragon kind as they decimate humanity. They aim to kill billions to bring the threat back to control, but there is one thing that might be a problem to their mission.
Kristen and her people haven’t fought so hard to stop the way, only for them to allow it to take place. She is determined to stop this threat at all costs, even if it means going face to face with the dragon she’s much afraid of, who tried to kill her in a dark cavern. Will she succeed in stopping the threat?
The Steel Dragon
The Steel Dragon is the second book in the Steel Dragon series. Kristen grew up as a human, but it turns out she isn’t one but a dragon. She lives in a world that has dragons in it. The dragons have been on earth for about 10 000 years. They see themselves as more significant, stronger, and can shift from dragon to humanoid and have magic powers. They also look down on humans and have never seen them as equals.
Some humans possess some magic and have been serving the dragons since the beginning, and there have been two wars they fought to gain their freedom. Unfortunately, they were defeated in each. Kristen has mastered some of her powers and even defeated an enemy dragon. However, she doesn’t seem to be prepared for what is coming.
She has been invited to be part of the Dragon SWAT, a dragon force whose task is to keep order amongst them. However, not all dragons are happy about the idea since some see humans as a threat and think they should be eliminated. The humans feel the same about the dragons too.
The powerful humans and dragons are joking with the future, but it turns out that Kristen is a kind that none of the beings expected. She can swing the equilibrium of power on either side. The Steel Dragon has her plans, and armed with the sense of honor put in her by human parents; she’s to dig to uncover the mysteries in order to have the slightest chance of stopping the catastrophic war.
With humans having both technology and magic, they can fight the dragons. Kristen has always wanted to be a cop like her father. While in the SWAT team, she finds out that her skin can turn to steel, and that’s when she was named the steel dragon. Kristen’s mission is to build a bridge between humans and dragons.
There is lots of action, suspense, and betrayal in the book. It’s refreshing to read about Kristen’s journey as she figures out what it means to be a steel dragon and how she holds on to humanity after learning that she’s a dragon.
Never Dragon
Never a dragon is the first installment in Dragon’s Daughter series. Dragons once ruled the world, but now those days are gone and mages, humans and dragons are learning to coexist without wars. Mages are no longer dragon enslaved people, but there is still mistrust among them. Kylara Diamantine had never met another dragon before since she was brought up by her mother, secluded from the other dragons. She had no idea as to why she did it and has always been curious to learn about the other species.
At 17, she dreams of getting out, meeting other dragons, stretching her wings, and exploring the world together, but life has other plans. After a disastrous magical attack at their home, Ky’s mother is missing, and she is forced to go to a special school for her safety. It’s a dragon’s school, and that year, for the very first time, mages will be coming with their scaley fellow students to learn about draconic powers and magic.
However, the fire monster that took Kylara’s mother away isn’t through yet and shows up at the school. Kylara’s powers are still growing in mysterious ways, but she isn’t sure whether they will be enough to keep her safe. She has to learn her powers and how to use them. She’s a newcomer in a strange place desperate to find her mother, and she becomes devastated now that she’s under attack. She’ll have to gather all her courage and strength in order to pass the tests ahead.
Kylara isn’t what she appears to be, and she keeps on gaining more powers. It seems that the school isn’t a safe haven as everyone thought. The twists and turns make the book enjoyable as the reader tries guessing what will happen next. It’s an entertaining young adult read that people of different ages can enjoy.
