Kiersten White is the bestselling author of paranormal fiction novels like Paranormalcy and Endlessly. White primarily writes for kids and teens, though she has hinted at the possibility of eventually writing for Adults in the future.

+Biography

Kiersten White was born in Utah sometime in the 1980s—she doesn’t want to get any more specific than that. Part of the charm of White’s childhood was the beauty of the mountain at the foot of which she lived.

Writing wasn’t always in the cards for White. Definitely, she figured she would take the direction of the arts, but White’s interest lay in illustrating books. Unfortunately for White, she couldn’t really draw.

Luckily, the author loved to read. And it came in handy because books were not always available for White’s consumption. So whenever her favorite books came to an end, she took solace in making up stories for her own enjoyment. Most writers start as avid readers and experimental storytellers, so White was definitely on the right path.

She knew she wanted to create stories for people like her to enjoy. However, she also knew that she did not want to write about adults. And the reasons were pretty straightforward: for Kiersten White, adults are pretty boring people.

That isn’t to say that they are dull. However, adults have problems. They have to deal with bills and mortgages and any one of several problematic concepts that make adulating so difficult.

Those were not the sorts of things Kiersten White wanted to write about. Children appealed to her because they have so much potential during those early years, so much life waiting to unfold ahead of them.

And because everything is new to their young minds, even as they make the transition into being fully formed individuals, White saw the potential for storytelling that Young Adult novels could provide. It was all so exciting, and that is what every author looks for; the chance to tell a story that excites and thrills them to their core.

Kiersten White was fortunate because her parents supported her efforts. Even her husband seemed determined to see her get her stories on paper. With a strong base of support, it is hardly surprising that White has made it to so many bestseller lists.

The author’s strongest aspect is her sense of humor and the way she writes scattered thought processes. Readers gravitate towards White’s writing because those two aspects inject a sense of authenticity into her work.

As a mother and a wife, Kiersten White’s life is pretty hectic. She makes an effort to find the time in her busy schedule to write. And once she chances upon inspiration and starts to write, the author is like a demon on the keyboard; relentless and unstoppable.

For that reason, White isn’t especially social. She doesn’t even watch much television, not when she spends so many late nights putting her ideas down on paper.

The author does have a presence on social media and primarily communicates with her audience via twitter and her blog.

Kiersten White has a degree in English. She is also a freelance writer who splits her time between writing freelance articles, creating her fiction and managing her children.

+Paranormalcy

Evie thinks she is a normal girl. Of course, others would disagree. There is nothing normal about working for an international organization dedicated to containing paranormal threats.

And you definitely cannot claim normalcy when your boyfriend is a faerie but you think you might have a crush on a shape-shifter. But Evie doesn’t care. Even though she can see through the glamors of paranormals, she is still certain that she is normal.

Evie’s world will change when she learns of her role in a dark Faerie prophecy.

Paranormalcy is Kiersten White’s most popular book to date. The book follows an organization called the IPCA which basically polices the mythological members of society. Evie is an IPCA officer who can see through the disguises of paranormal creatures.

The book places Evie at the center of a love triangle when she draws the attention of a shape shifter and a faerie. Evie tries to balance her normal teenage life with her duties as an IPCA officer.

Paranormalcy was written on a whim. White had her eyes set on getting a different story published, and she threw this book out while her other efforts were underway. However, it was Paranormalcy that her agent gravitated towards, making it the priority.

The book has since made it to the New York Times Bestseller list, this along with eliciting various starred reviews. The popularity of the book during its early days was such that it was even optioned for a possible movie adaptation in 2010.

The book’s strongest aspect is Evie. She is a unique protagonist in the young adult genre. Unlike her dull and boring counterparts, Evie is refreshing, fond of ridiculous antiques and boasting unexpected obsessions.

The book is decently paced and plotted, though there is little in the way of mysteries. In fact, things are a little predictable, but Kiersten White’s writing is entertaining enough to her make her story entertaining regardless.

+Supernaturally

Evie thought she wanted to be normal. But now that she is a normal girl, Evie is quite bored by her life. Fortunately for her, a chance to return to the International Paranormal Containment Agency is about to present itself.

And Evie doesn’t hesitate at the chance to escape normalcy. But things are not particularly smooth sailing, and as the disastrous missions begin to accrue, Evie cannot help but question her decisions.

Reth, her ex-boyfriend, doesn’t help matters when he brings a disturbing revelation to her doorstep. There is a battle amongst the Faeries that could drown the supernatural world in chaos.

This book tries to shatter Evie’s dreams of life and happiness by giving her what she wants. With Lend’s father’s help, Evie was able to finally live the dream of going to a normal high school and being one of the ordinary folk.

But boredom soon sinks in, and Evie cannot help but worry that something is amiss in the supernatural world, what with all the odd dreams she has been having. This book is fun. That is its strongest aspect. It thrills and entertains.
