Suckers 4 Candy (2013) Hardcover  Paperback  Kindle

Kiki Swinson is bestselling American author of urban and fiction novels. She was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia and discovered her passion for writing after writing her debut novels, Mad Shambles while serving a five-year sentence at a federal prison. After completion of her prison term in December 1996, Kiki Swinson went on to self-publish Mad Shambles. Since then Kiki Swinson has authored more than nine series, authored over a dozen standalone novels, and contributed to other series such as Wifey.

Swinson is one of the earliest novelists of contemporary Street Literature. The author’s Wifey series is one of the most popular in a genre with five installments. Other titles related to Wifey series include Wife Extraordinaire Returns and Wife Extraordinaire. Swinson contribution and impact to Street Lit is incontestable. All of Swinson’s lead characters are women. They are all strong female characters, such as Yosi (Playing Dirty), Kira (Wifey), Lynise (Cheaper to Keep Her), Maxine (A Sticky Situation), and Faith (The Candy Shop). According to an interview, Swinson stated that her greatest inspiration comes from all different kinds of places.

For example, the Wifey series was derived from what the author went through in the late 80’s and also in the 90’s when Swinson was involved with a man who sold drugs. The relationship is what apparently led to Swinson’s federal case, and even though she was not married to the man, she was considered as his “Wifey.” On the other hand, Candy Shop series inspiration came about what Swinson watched her uncle almost kill himself with heroin addiction, and this compelled her to weave such a novel. Additionally, Swinson wrote Playing Dirty/Notorious series as she wanted to touch on another area of the drug enterprise. Even though Swinson had written other series about drug dealers that make plenty of money to supply a lavish lifestyle for themselves. However, this series focused on an attorney who fights to get their high price clients off and set free.

Wifey Extraordinaire

Wifey Extraordinaire will take you to places and into the lives of two women who are as just as cunning as Nikki, Kira, and Rhoda from the first series. The novel introduces several characters both primary and secondary characters. For example, there is Troy, a promiscuous on the low who frequently cheated on his wife in the past but managed to get away with it, but his notion is that getting head from a lady is not considered cheating.

Then there is Trice, a classy and independent woman. She and Troy were married for over five years; she does not like to give head to her husband but bows down and does whatever for his friend Leon. Charlene is the ghetto bitch, one who always tried her best to take Troy to bed but apparently turned out to be a major fail for Troy has great respect for his marriage.

The spouse trade in this book changed a lot, made Troy and Trice fall out of love and made Leon and Trice fall in love and Charlene and Leon fell out of love and made Troy and Charlene hate each other.

The Candy Shop

The Candy Shop introduces readers to readers to Faith Simmons, a woman with no regards for her neighbors, or their property or even her own life. She has done everything she could including selling her life’s fortune, stealing, selling her body all because of her sweet addiction for the Candy Shop

Looking back a decade ago, who would have thought that this well paid and well-respected 31-year-old assistant principal for a well-known school would trade her two-story home, her six-year-old marriage, her car for a body full of track marks and something much more sweeter than sex. When that candy, as she commonly calls it runs out, she turns to the common phrase- “desperate time’s calls for desperate actions” which will see her playing Russian roulette with what an average man would call the angel of death. Soon than later, these past episodes will catch up with Faith such that she will be forced to make life-threatening choices, but will that be too late?

Sticky Situation

At only the age of 34, the sexy and curvy Maxine Shaw flourishes in her current job positions as a federal parole officer. She is famously known across countless correctional facilities for violating paroles and sending them back to prison, and she is most shocked when she lets her guard down for Seth.

Ruthless, courageous, confident, Seth Richardson sets his attention on Maxine, who is instantly turned on by his swagger. The consequences that she would face from her superiors if ever she was caught dating parole would be career threatening. They start a deafening, and a secretive love relationship that has boundaries. Understanding that Maxine has her life’s ambitions and aspirations of owning a small business, Seth persuades his woman to ignore his drug peddling activities to get her the required start-up money. Everything seems to conform to the plan for this couple until the day when Maxine discovers that her man, Seth has a major distraction in his life- and the distraction is no other than Samantha Mitchell.

Samantha happens to be Seth’s ride or die and codefendant chic, just arriving home from serving time her time in women’s federal camp. As the two women compete for Seth’s love, darkest secrets unfold as the story unfolds. However, the big question is, will Maxine outsmart her biggest adversary and keep her man for good? Alternatively, will Samantha outsmart the educated Maxine?

Playing Dirty

For Yoshi Lomax, playing dirty is a skill that she has perfected over the years. By bribing officials, cops, sleeping with her superiors and convincing her best friend in the DEA to make her vanish. In the past few years, Yoshi has become a prominent criminal defense attorney. However, when she takes a case of a ruthless Haitian gang leader Sheldon, her normal way of doing business does not work. Moreover, someone has gotten to the list of people on her payroll, and her money is dwindling. With the enemy trying to sabotage her on every corner, Yoshi must win this case or else loses her life.
