“Lives Collide” by Kristina Beck is serendipity at its best as it asserts that life has a mind of its own and often ignores the many plans that we make.
When she was a teenager, she has a near-death experience and since then has been haunted by the bright green eyes of the man who had saved her. Luckily, the man had left behind a leather jacket which she still keeps and looks at from time to time.
Years after the incident, she is still feeling the aftereffects of the injuries she suffered. She believes that if she ever divulged her secrets, no man would ever love her. As such, she has spent years living a monotonous life and living in solitude.
But then one day James comes into her life.
On his part, James had helped a young girl that had been involved in a terrible accident. He had then gone his way to chase and accomplish his dreams. He had been doing well until an unforeseen circumstance turns his world upside down.
He finds himself spiraling downward and he lacks the strength to pull himself up as he falls into despair. But then he finds Lisa to be a welcome distraction. They are drawn together by a sense of peace and familiarity.
They soon realize they have very different lives that intertwine at some very interesting points.
Kristina Beck’s novel “Dreams Collide” introduces Tina, who is a woman that craves food and adventure, and her newest client Gery who owns a restaurant.
When she was sixteen years old, she had been full of boldness and energy and desperate to leave New Jersey.
However, things go awry when she tragically loses her mother. She finds herself thrust into the role of being a mother to her family while keeping some dark secrets from them all.
After several years have passed, she now believes she has paid her debt and is ready to rediscover the wild girl within. With a move to Hoboken and a new dream job, she intends to spread her wings.
She is tempted by a restaurant owner who is tempting her with food and himself. The last time she had felt such intense attraction she was in college and had one unforgettable kiss.
All Gerry wants is a new life and anonymity with Tina the beautiful web designer. He had run away from Germany where his reputation was destroyed.
Following months of staying under the radar, he finally moved to New York City where he opened a new restaurant. But upon hiring a website design firm he finds himself paired off with Tina who he had an indulgent kiss once upon a time.
“Souls Collide” is the second novel of the “Collide” series of novels by Kristina Beck.
Alexa is a woman who has it all with money, brains, and beauty all in the same package. Whenever her friends and family need her help she is usually the first to offer it but never seems to want any help herself.
Men usually fall over themselves for her except for Kent the abrasive police officer who it seems despises her. However, there a series of strange happenings soon exposes her to self-doubt and fear.
She can no longer live in her protective bubble, even as she does not know who she needs to be more fearful of between the softer suddenly protective Kent and an unknown pursuer.
Over the years, she has seen many of the women he loves endure unbearable suffering and unable to do anything about it and now he has refused to let anyone get close. To most people, he is an angry and heartless cop without any softness.
But then one stormy day, Alexa warms him up with her sunshine and meets his icy heart. He wants to hate her but he cannot and suddenly he just does not understand what is happening to him.
