Kristina Forest is a young adult romance fiction author that is best known for the novel “Zyla and Kai,” which she published in 2022. She has said that she prefers to pen young adult fiction since she believes there is something very special about stories that feature characters who experience things for the first time.

This could be anything from adventure, and grief, to love which are common themes in her novels. Kristina has also said that she believes young adult fiction has gained so much popularity given that they are always full of possibility and are so fresh.
Kristina Forest has always loved to dance and believed that she would grow up to become a choreographer. However, she soon realized that she loved writing more than anything. Kristina would, later on, attend The New School where she earned a Creative Writing MFA majoring in children’s fiction.
She still works a 9-5 in children’s publishing, even after she made her name writing fiction. She currently makes her home in the Brooklyn borough of New York where she writes her novels.

Growing up, Kristina Forest used to read a lot and this continued well into adulthood. Even now with a 9-5 she still finds time to read a book every fortnight for pleasure and so many other books for work and hence she is constantly reading.
Some of her favorite authors include Zadie Smith, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jenny Han, and Sarah Dessen. Given her love for reading, she always thought of becoming a fiction author. At the beginning of high school and in middle school, she for a time thought of becoming a professional dancer but writing ultimately won out.

The defining moment when she realized she wanted to do writing as a career was when she was in high school. Her creative writing teacher had brought a published author to the class and by the time he was done talking about his novels, Kristina was convinced that she could convert her hobby into a career.
This is what pushed her to enroll in creative writing in college where she read a lot of young adult fiction. It was during her time in college that she first believed she was ready to pen “I Wanna Be Where You Are.”

In penning her debut novel “I Wanna Be Where You Are,” Kristina Forest intended to pen a work that she never had when she was a teenager. She wanted to write the story of a Black girl following her dreams, who falls in love and has an adventure.
Following her graduation with an MFA in creative writing, she knew she wanted to become published and began preparing three manuscripts.

She ultimately had to decide among the three and went with her debut which she had then titled “The Pointe of Everything.” She then felt that it represented her brand as it had a commercial yet romantic feeling with a lot of heart.
It had taken her ten months to draft the manuscript and several more to revise. Ultimately, the novel would be published in 2019.

“I Wanna Be Where You Are” by Kristina Forest is a cute and freaking novel that is a combination of hate to love and a road trip romance. Chloe has always dreamed of moving to New York where she wants to work at the conservatory that had been set up by her favorite ballerina.
When she gets a chance to audition with him, she is devastated when her mother refuses to give her permission. She has a very strict mother who cares too much about her future. She thinks she knows best just like many other parents do even when what they do goes against what the child wants.

When she is refused the opportunity by her mother she makes the decision of sneaking away on her Spring Break. It was the perfect time since her mother was then on a cruise with her boyfriend. However, she hits her first roadblock when Eli her neighbor insists that she take him with her or else he will tell her mum.

She now finds herself chasing her dreams in New York with two unwanted passengers a dope playing list on the car radio and butterflies in her stomach. Full of roadside hijinks, a few broken rules, and a heart-stirring romance it makes for a perfect young adult debut.

Kristina Forest’s “Now That I’ve Found You” is a work about searching for love, answers, and an eccentric grandmother in all the wrong places.

Evie Jones is an eighteen-year-old girl that is following in the footsteps of her very famous grandmother and is set to become the next big thing in Hollywood. But then she is betrayed by a close friend and suddenly finds herself blacklisted.
Fortunately, she has a very good idea of what could save her career. If she would appear in public with Gigi her grandmother and one of the most beloved actors in the US, it could just save her.

But Gigi her grandmother is a recluse that has not made an appearance for more than two decades. Days before she presents her grandmother with an honorary prize in the glare of Hollywood cameras, she goes missing.

Her comeback is on the line and time is running out, forcing her to reluctantly enlist the help of Milo Williams the last person her grandma wanted to see before she went missing. Evie has to work with the cute Milo Williams and together they go on a manhunt across New York.
It is a quest that is full of adventure and romance even as Evie discovers a lot of surprising things about her grandmother.

Zyla & Kai by Kristina Forest follows Kai Johnson and Zyla Matthews who run away while on a school trip. They went missing in the middle of a storm high up on the Poconos Mountains, leaving their family and friends confused.

The two had met when they both worked at an amusement park and given that they were so different, no one was surprised when they broke up. Having seen her parents’ marriage crumble early in her life, she had become cynical about love. She only wanted to graduate and proceed abroad to study fashion until she met Kai.

On the other hand, Kai has been known as a hopeless romantic and serial monogamist. However, he had put his dating life on hold prior to his senior year so that he could get good grades to get into his dream college. But then he met Zyla.

Alternating between the present and past, it is a love story told from the perspective of both Kai and Zyla and how they came to fall in love and ultimately broke up. A little mysterious, heart-stirring, and romantic it is a work that will keep its readers guessing from the first page to the last.
