Kyle Mills is an American born novelist who likes to write his novels based on the political thriller and mystery genres. He is well known for the character depiction of the fictional character Mark Beamon as a special agent in the FBI. Mills was born in the year 1966 in Oregon, United States. Although he was brought up in Oregon, he did not quite live there and has traveled to places like Maryland, Wyoming, London and Washington D.C. He had the childhood of a bureau kid as his father was an agent in the FBI, so he was kind of an army brat as a child. He had been in constant touch with the kids of other bureau agents and had to get transferred a lot because of his father’s postings, though he thinks that he has fared way better than other kids on that front. Being constantly exposed to the FBI kind of lifestyle had a great impact on his life as he was able to absorb a lot information about the functioning of FBI, Special Forces and other agencies. This was one of the positive aspects of being a bureau kid for him.
As a young boy, Mills was very much fascinated by the talks of catching criminals. He used to picture himself in the most heroic terms possible along with a romantic touch. He had never thought that all these knowledge would help him in the future to set up his writing career. During the late 80s, Mills completed his college studies and had the dream of doing a corporate job and having a big car, nice house, etc. just like any other young enthusiast. However, he took a strange turn towards writer career and still thinks and laughs about it. When he joined a corporate job, he had a jeep to drive and lived in a small house in the Baltimore neighborhood. But this kind of environment did not suit him as most of his money used to accumulate only in his checking account and he used to get drawn towards the unconventional and artistic people around him. He used to get fascinated by seeing any artistic work and did not have the confidence of doing anything like this himself. He stared with rock climbing as he thought it to be an incredible act to do during his college days. With a view of trying it out, Mills drove to West Virginia for taking lessons at rock climbing, during the 90s. To this day, he feels the obsession of rock climbing.
When he met a girl with similar hobbies, the two decided to pursue it in a more open space and taller rocks. So they moved to Wyoming, which was full of exceptional people. Inspired by the achievements of the people around him in Wyoming, Mills decided to write a novel. He wanted to be the kind of person as they were. While living in Jackson Hole on account a Banking job, he decided to give a shot at doing something creative. So he opted for building furniture, but was not sure about his abilities. He was suggested to start writing a novel by his wife. The idea seemed absurd to him at first as he had done his graduation in finance and did not like the English language very much. Eventually, he stuck to pen and paper for so long that the completed his first novel in the first 8 months. After a year or so, he was able to get it published and began to be recognized as the author of the successful novel, Rising Phoenix. Soon, after the success of the first novel was followed by some more and Mills began taking his writing career seriously. After so many years of writing, he has not changed his style of living, although some minor changes have occurred like the rock climbing has been replaced by mountain bike racing and backcountry skiing. He still lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming along with his wife.
Kyle Mills started the first novel of his thriller series based on the character Mark Beamon, titled Rising Phoenix. The novel was published by the Harper Collins Publishers in the year 1997 and marks the first novel of the Mark Beamon series. In this novel, a famous television producer Simon Blake starts his personal crusade against the drug lords of America. In order to spread the drug abuse, he proposes a huge amount of money, He decided to adulterate the Cocaine arriving from Columbia. However, Pastor Blake believes that there could be harmful effects on the addicts. There is the danger of fatalities in huge numbers. Soon, the plague strikes America and people begin to fall like flies. Chaos spreads all over the city as the hospitals get jammed with huge number of patients. It becomes clear that someone had poisoned the drug supply affecting the lives of thousands of American people, but the real culprit was still out of the reach of the FBI. FBI agent Mark Beamon gets appointed to catch the culprits. He teams up with a female agent, Laura Vilechi to begin his hunt for the ruthless killer.
The second novel of the series was titled ‘Storming Heaven’ and was published in the year 1998 by the Harper Paperbacks. The novel continues to depict the thrill and mystery in the life of FBI agent, Mark Beamon. The plot opens up with Beamon gets exiled from D.C. in a distant office, as a punishment for his rough ways of handling the cases. But there too, he does not stop to adopt his maverick ways to solve the cases. When a brutal murder of a local millionaire and his wife takes place, their only child and heir, Jennifer becomes the prime suspect. However, the case gets more mysterious when Jennifer herself goes missing. Beamon sets out on a trail to catch the real murderer. As he comes close to solving the case, he comes to know the reason behind the sinister crime, one which he never could have thought of. He finds out that the murder is linked to a conspiracy against America and now he has the responsibility of saving not only the young girl but also the United States of America. He discovers that the millionaire and his wife had committed suicide in front of their daughter and that the double suicide was going to affect America in the worst possible manner. As the time runs out, Mark Beamon keeps trying to save America from the possible misery and find Jennifer to know the reason for their parents’ suicide.
