Chasing Evil

Casing Evil is the first book in Kylie Brant’s The Circle of Evil Series. Generally, there is no big issue with the presence of bodies buried for ages, but if they do not belong there, it raises a bunch of questions. Six bodies of women are found in what seems like a mass grave sparkling the chase for the purported serial killer to prevent the killer from claiming another life.

Two characters, detective Cam Prescott and forensic psychologist Sophia Channing are onto this matter. Channing is brought on board for her expertise in reading and interpreting the minds of such psychopaths. More to just working the two are involved in an affair forming a perfect team for the task ahead. However, due to her being highly profiled, she gets targeted by this suspected serial killer.

It does not take long after being assigned the case that she disappears putting Cam into overdrive with the hope of preventing a repetition of the horrific killings that have been witnessed and connected to a killer in the wind. Sophia is put in an isolated liar where other patients to this murderer have been, and it is up to her to come up with a way to get into his head and escape from his cruelty.

Driven by love, anger and to an extent fear, the agent moves out on the mission to find Sophia before she can suffer at the mercy of this murderer. Brant takes turns putting the reader into the different situations that each of these characters are in making one feel their emotions. The author has a great way of juggling between the past and the present to give the reader a clear understanding of this story.

Touching Evil

Touching Evil is her second edition in The Circle of Evil Series. Cam and Sophia have just come from a case that almost took her life when a new and deadlier one comes to their attention. A group of teenagers stable into something at Lowa woods that will be far bigger than what they previously handled.

Bodies are piling up each day, and the killer that they suspect and consider dangerous than the one they dealt with in the past is far more dangerous and missing. The serial killer has his mark on Sophia and then proceed to take the life of lucy Benally, a medical examiner. It is a tough battle for the characters as they struggle to understand the serial killer’s mind and activities so that they can stop him before things get to a worse level. This means putting their lives at stake all with the goal of catching him to put an end to these brutal killings.

Cam has to use his brilliant mind combined with the skills that are possed by Sophia so that they can solve this case. However, while doing this, the memories of what happened at the hands of the other killer keep haunting and causing fear on the agent though he is determined to come up with a solution. Mystery after mystery, they work to get hold of this character who has put a price on Sophia and lucy.

The characters development, settings and the storyline keep getting better as you go deep into the story qualifying it to be one of the best thriller books. The twists, dramas and excitement in this story is one that will interest you as they have a unique creation.

Facing Evil

Facing Evil closes The Circle of Evil Series. Cam and his team have already arrested a serial killer and gunned down the compliance but one person is still in the wind and who is at the centre of all these killings. The killer at large is focused on fulfilling her hit list more than she is in avoiding capture. It is, therefore, cam’s work to hunt her before she fulfils her mission.

Cam sets out together with Sophia to hunt this character but without realizing that they are being led into a trap. Each side plays their cards to their level best, but Cam’s side does not realize they it’s a trap as sacrificial lambs. Many evil things keep happening in this book among them rapes, fires, murders and bombs that never seem to take a break. The story describes a character that feels no shame, guilt or mercy only after fulfilling her quest.

Revenge from Vickie, the killer, forms a series of events that confuse Cam and Sophia all along to the extent of almost being unable to get hold of her and stop the madness in the murderer. The author also touches a substantial amount on the relationship between Sophia and the detective. The drive behind the revenge attitude by Vickie comes from the fact that she blames Sophia and the partner for the death of her son who also was her crime partner. The loss of a child pushes her to this dangerous and highly discomforting extents causing a hard time for Cam and his team. Brant takes the reader through the ups and downs that each side go through making it feel almost live and to a great extent emotional.

An excellent plot with short and precise details make reading comfortable as the story slides from page to page. Brant is excellent at describing her characters and gives them roles that match their qualities not forgetting how she brings the variation in characters to give an incredible story.
