Leslie Esdaile Banks was an American author of mystery and thriller books. She penned more than 12 novellas and 40 novels with some featured in USA Today and New York Best-selling lists. The author also wrote under different pen names as L.A Banks, Leslie Banks, Leslie Esdaile, and Leslie E. Banks. Her books fall into different genres including women’s fiction, non-fiction, African-American literature, dark fantasy, and romance and crime suspense.

Three of Leslie Banks books, Soul Food series have been optioned for the big screen adaptation. Additionally, the author won several literary awards, and a notable one included the Essence Literary Award in 2008. Besides writing, Leslie also contributed to newspapers and magazines columns and also wrote commercial fiction for different major publishers.

Bad Blood

Bad Blood is the debut novel in Crimson Moon series. The protagonist, Sasha Trudeau, is a soldier and together with her colleagues is uniquely trained since they have managed to survive the attacks by the werewolves. They are now trained to remain loyal to the government and each other.

Sasha knows how to work in the shadows and is aware of the things that happen in the dark at night. She also knows that the world does not have knowledge about the existence of the paranormal and that might be the reason the government is hiding the secret from them.

While Sasha is on a solo mission, she receives crucial information about their battle that the werewolves are infected. After she returns home, she is interrogated by the commanding officer, and she later discovers that her colleagues have not returned and are missing in action.

Another character named Max Hunter works for the different undercover group and is given the responsibility of tracking the infected werewolves. While on his duty of hunting, max meets soldier Sasha under very harsh circumstances. He sees her very attractive and falls in love with her at first sight.

Max and Sasha have now to work together with the other members from the two groups to bring the war to an end. Max wants to teach Sasha on her wolf so that they can solve the mystery of the government in her area before it is too late. Later Sasha realizes there is more in the supernatural world then she thought earlier.

The author portrays the themes of betrayal, double deals, murder and mayhem in the story. The story is fast-paced packed with a lot of actions and numerous twists and turns which keep you wondering what will happen next.

L.A Banks introduces you to this paranormal series with an interesting and fascinating supernatural set up and the battle of good versus the evil. She uses his skills in world building and multiracial characters to make the story more charming.

Bite the Bullet

Bite the Bullet is the second book in the Crimson Moon series and a continuation of the Bad Blood. The book begins as Sasha Trudeau is facing some problems and has many issues to deal with. She is already in a relationship with Max Hunter, a leader of the shadow wolves in North America. Sasha is an elite and a well-trained soldier aiming at saving the supernatural worlds and humans. She is currently in a relationship with Max Hunter a werewolf alpha, and this makes her very important in the supernatural world where the rules are different than what she thought.

She is struggling to coordinate her shadow wolf and human life. The story has both the shadow wolves and the werewolves. The shadow wolves can pass through the demon realms and the shadows, but they need to be protected from a special stone so that the demon- infected wolves do not harm them.

Both the shadow wolves and the werewolves can be infected and Sasha, her team and Max have to protect them from the infection. Though Sasha has her own problems, Max is also having facing his problems. He is infected with the demon since he was born and now his situation is awful, and he fears to turn to one of the monsters.

Sasha appears to still strong as before and is capable, and he training in the military field is good. She can make tough decisions; she does not appear to be stressed at any point.

Her team members had gone mysteriously missing in action after ambush while they were on their last mission. Only two men and Sasha were lucky to come back alive. The team was on a mission of finding and destroying any person they found infected with the toxin that was dangerous to the blood of the shape shifter.
Sasha does not seem to know that the man she is in love with is infected with toxin since his childhood. Max is in his major stage in his life, and he has to fight the inner battle to get supremacy. Sasha tries to trust max more and have a strong bond with him while he struggles to control the outbreak of another war.

A time when Sasha needs to rely on the help of max the most, a supernatural supremacy war breaks. Max struggles to fight the demons within him as Sasha, and his grandfather work had to make sure he is safe and alive before the battle.

Meanwhile, the vampires taunt the werewolves who are already addicted to the toxin. Its the battle between the villains and the pack and as many packs team up to fight the evil with Sasha, her trained team, and max at the center.

Bite the Bullet is action packed with lots of twists and turns keeping you in suspense as you read the story. The book gives information on the insight as it exposes Sasha to the world without cutting her off from the government activities. The story gives you both the fantasy and mystery you might want to hear about. There are several terms used to describe the paranormal creatures in the Bite the Bullet and L.A Banks develops the characters very well making the story a thrilling read. It is action and drama packed keeping you entertained to the last page.
