L.A. McGinnis is a romance, fantasy, and paranormal fiction author that is best known for her paranormal fiction.

Fueled by bad nineties music, ice cream, and black coffee, the author spends most of her days penning bestselling fiction works full of damaged heroes who long for authentic smart, and whole heroines.
Laura was hooked on writing right from the time she picked up a book. However, she would get sidetracked by fast cars and boys and soon enough, lost the dream of writing.

But one day she walked into a KSU classroom and her love of Norse Mythology and Old English received a new injection of life.

She would ultimately graduate from Kent State University and published “Shadows of Ghosts,” her debut novel and the first of the “Holy City Vampires” series of novels in 2017.
She currently makes her home in Northeastern Ohio overlooking a national park from where she spends most of her time writing dystopian, fantasy, and paranormal romance.

She is active in the writing community and is a member of writer organizations NEORWA, FF&PRWA, and the RWA. She has also attended the NEORWA Writers Conference and the Sanibel Island Writers Conference.

Growing up, L.A. McGinnis was always big on reading probably because they has a lot of books in their house and did not watch too much TV at their house.

Her parents never set limits on what to read, even though they did that when it came to TV watching. As such, she used to read many books that were beyond her years even if she never realized it at the time.
By the time she turned 10, she had read most of her parents’ college books including the likes of Shakespeare and “Crime and Punishment.” These books gave her a weird worldview and provided much of the inspiration for what she writes today.
As such, as a very young child, she realized the power of words and the fact that legends and old myths were still around millennia later.

She was excited that she could still read about Viking gods, even though the last people to believe in them had not been around for about 1000 years.

Following that, she got into epic storytelling which brought even more complicated and larger worlds into play. When he read Herbert and Tolkien which had some incredible world-building, she realized the power of the written word.

Over the years, L.A. McGinnis has come to be known for penning plot-heavy romances that come with redemptive character arcs, enemies-to-lovers conflicts, and found family.

She has said that she loves writing about damaged characters who find the love of their lives in plot-heavy romances with a lot of turns and twists in addition to several heartbreaks.
She started out with urban fantasy and paranormal romance elements but since 2018 she has been busy publishing steamy reverse harem works.

She has built a world of ruthless and bloodthirsty vampire clans with each series exploring the story of one heroine and several protective males.
Nonetheless, each storyline usually has some connection with other series including beloved and old characters that often pop up.

For her work, she has been a finalist for the In’D’Tale fantasy fiction awards.

L.A. McGinnis’s novel “Night Marked,” tells the story of the newest queen of the Darkfell clan named Seraphina.

She grew up with her grandmother and mother and never knew her father. They used to move all over particularly following the murder of her mother.

One night, she had been unexpectedly kidnapped along with several other innocent women and then introduced to a supernatural world. She had been saved by a man on the other side of her cell who drank her blood to gain strength.
Outside another man who is a fellow vampire appears and together they take her back to her grandmother’s house. It turns out the vampires know her grandmother and soon enough Seraphina learns that she is destined to be the next queen.
However, if she is to get her magical powers, she will need to suffer the pain and challenges of an Ascension. Once this happens she will still need to empower her guards to defeat Viktor the inhumane king of the Darkfell.
She will learn about the different revenants, magic, loss, love and betrayal, and many other things. A war for her love, throne, and magic has already begun.

“Shadow Bound” by L.A. McGinnis sees Luthor, Cyrus, and Seraphina on the run from the revenants under the leadership of Viktor.

Cyrus leads the three to the home of Deston his cousin who is a four-century-old vampire very familiar with court politics. He has agreed to help Seraphina harness her magic and protect all of them from Viktor.
He has been a servant to many other queens before but he is also responsible for Viktor’s kingship. He is guilty of betrayal, making all manner of mistakes, and being too selfish until now.
Coming to know Seraphina may just be the best thing for everyone around Deston. But he will ultimately commit a betrayal that will cost him his true mate and her love.

Going forward there will be more secrets to unveil, battles to come, and a deadly name far worse than Viktor who will have a very strong hold on Deston.

In Seraphina’s bid for the throne and while fighting their newest file, Seraphina will learn all manner of things that will make her lose what is most precious to her.
Who among them will survive and live to fight another day?

L.A. McGinnis’ novel “Lost Kingdom” is another interesting addition to the Darkfell Vampire Clan series of novels.

Seraphina cannot bear seeing Deston being tortured by the enemy. She makes plans while working hard to clean the lower levels of the palace of the vermin left behind by their enemies.

She stumbles into two very powerful entities one of who is interested in revenge against her enemy. She decides to team up with the entity to come up with a plan that will satisfy them both.

But she will still have to pay back a huge debt to Viktor who has given her three months to pay. If she fails to pay, he intends to give the palace and all its wealth and treasures to another person.

But once she rescues Deston her most powerful and newest entity yet will come onto the scene and all he wants is Seraphina. Still, Deston has another secret that will be revealed that may just change the entire dynamic.
