Series of Note

The Prospero’s Daughter Series is the first noteworthy series that L. Jagi Lamplighter has made. The stories are about Miranda, the daughter of Prospero from Shakespeare’s the Tempest. The stories take place in the present day and focus on Miranda as she looks to rescue her father from a hellish landscape similar to what was profiled in Dante’s Inferno.

Noteworthy Books

Prospero Lost

Prospero Lost marks the first book in the Prospero’s Daughter series. Miranda and many others in her family have attained eternal life thanks to their practice of magic. While in the modern times, they aim to use their magic for the good of humanity. But soon Prospero goes missing, thus prompting Miranda to go out on a search to find him. While Miranda looks for her father, she begins to fear her past as she learns more about herself than what she can afford to handle.

Many other characters are noteworthy throughout this book. These include Mab the faerie detective and Mephistopheles, Miranda’s slightly off-kilter brother.

Prospero in Hell

The great influence of Dante’s Inferno can be noticed in this next book in the Prospero’s Daughter series. Prospero has been found to be in Hell where he is being kept in torture. Many of the demons there are willing to let Prospero free but they are asking for a very high price in return. What Miranda doesn’t know is that this entails more than just the threat that her family’s magic may no longer work down here. It is also about how Miranda might be in a situation where tampering with the demons any further could result in them coming to Earth to take over the world.

The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin

The Unexpected Enlightenment series stars with this story that introduces Rachel Griffin to the Roanoke Academy, a place where she can study magic. Although she is able to recollect all the information that she reads in her many books, there is still one concern that she comes across in her work. She discovers a statue in the woods around campus that has never been documented or analyzed by anyone, thus leading her to figure out what could have caused the statue to come about in the first place.

This leads to the discovery of a secret world located not too far from the academy. It is here where the mysteries of the land really start to perk up, thus leading the reader into a fascinating world of many creatures and unique people.

The Raven, the Elf and Rachel

Rachel is trying to save the world but as it turns out, people are not necessarily willing to listen to her warnings. She discovers one villain who is aiming to destroy the world and it is up to Rachel and her friends to find a way to save the day. But it is not going to be all that easy as Rachel is hoping to survive many spells and attacks. A mysterious raven with red eyes has been following her around as well, thus giving her the impression that someone a little more powerful might be watching her to see what she is going to do next.

Rachel and the Many-Splendored Dreamland

This next story takes place around Halloween. Rachel is looking to visit a castle in Transylvania where her adventure-seeking hero was last seen at. She is interested in exploring the castle and possibly with finding clues as to where the man she has admired could have gone. A special Halloween ball will bring about many people and could hold the key to finding what could have happened to this man.
