L.L. Muir is an American paranormal romance author who previously worked as a florist. She got into Scottish romances and time travel when she saw “Phantom of the Opera,” which gave her a feeling of reincarnation. Within a month she was a romance author and dropped everything else as she intended to pursue the dream of becoming a published writer. Muir left behind “The Scottish Rose,” a flourishing flower shop as she sat down to start writing her manuscript. She has said that in her previous life she loved to pretend to be Mrs. Doubtfire until she was embarrassed when a gentleman customer requested a meeting with the Scottish proprietor of the shop. She still loves Scottish characters and there many of them populate her works. She published her debut novel “Christmas Kiss,” the first novel of the “Kisses and Carriages” series in 2012 and has never looked back since. She now has more than twenty-four novels in several series, several novellas, and has been a contributor to the “Ghosts of Culloden Moor” series of novels. She is also a Western romance author and publishes her novels in the genre under the pseudonym Bella Bowen. She currently lives with her husband on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Muir always dreamed of becoming a novelist but since she also loved her career as a florist she never found the time to pursue her passion. Everything changed when she read the “Outlander” books by Diana Gabaldon and she was hooked. She made the decision to close down shop and take care of her son from home, which provided a lot of time to do her writing. Within three weeks of making the decision, she had written the manuscript for her debut novel. By 2010, she had an agent and was very hopeful of getting a publishing deal with one of the large publishers in New York. However, it was not to be and when two years went by and she had not made any headway. She was about to give up when a friend mentioned self-publishing and how much she was making from it. Muir just knew that she had to try it out. Three weeks later, one of the books that her agent had tried and failed to get a publisher fro was self-published. She immediately began making money with “Christmas Kiss” and it has only gotten better and better.
L.L. Muir’s “Blood For Ink” is the story of Olivia a woman who has had a terrible marriage and looking to get out, she turned herself into Scarlet Premier. In doing so, she disgraces her fiancé so that she can get her wedding called off. She is also working with a group of women looking to find happiness and uses the newspapers to spread her message. But she goes too far when she decides to write about a prominent member of the “Four Kings.” As expected, the Four Kings are not happy and to put a stop to her activities, they come up with a plan to get someone to marry her. North the person chosen to put Olivia out of commission realizes that he wants her already as he is half in love with her. Right from the moment he draws the name, he knows that he was destined to find and marry Olivia. Stanley, Harwood, and Ashwood who are members of the brotherhood say that they are going to help him. Each of them independently learns that Olivia has a dark secret that could put her life in danger if it was exposed. Moreover, she had exposed many men in her column making many enemies that would have wanted to destroy her. Even with the protection of her new friends, she is still kidnapped though North vows to do everything to get her back.
“Breath of Laughter” by L.L. Muir is the fascinating story of Henley who fled from her cruel parents to go into an unknown future. However, the friend that she intended to stay with is on holiday when she lands in Country Dorset. While she waits for her to return, she needs to be bolder than she had ever been, particularly when she is called upon to choose between the man she once loved with all her heart and her safety. Three of Harcourt’s friends had gotten married and he deemed them lost while vowing never to get entangled in such foolishness. But now he needs to run away from his destiny by hiding from a traditional African chair. He does not believe in the powers of the chair but he cannot take chances. By bad luck, a female phantom takes refuge in his sanctuary and the only way to keep his sanity is to drink heavily. The novel is an exploration of the exploitation and abuse of a daughter and the loyalty of friends combined with a great sense of humor and a moving love story.
“Body and Soul” by L.L. Muir is the story of Ford Forsgreen, who had been unlucky enough to receive the dreaded traditional African chair and now cannot find a bride. Most of the women in town have been told that he is looking for a bride and everyone watches his every move. The Duke of Rochester in waiting fears that he may never find a woman that may love him for who he is given that he is of royal blood and has a pretty face. Georgette does not have the luxury of even thinking that she could get married for love. She had been promised to marry her second cousin and in exchange, he had vowed to keep her secrets from the world. But Lord Forsgreen wants her hand in marriage and if he learns that she has a dark secret, he may threaten her and if she refuses, she may hang before she gets married. As she has often done, Muir writes a beautiful and entertaining Regency thriller with Georgette the lead protagonist a fascinating addition to the group.
