The Land of Stories is a series of children’s fiction novels written the famous singer, actor, and author Chris Colfer. There is a total of 5 books in the series of which the first four have been published between the years 2012 and 2015. The fifth novel of the series is about to be published in the year 2016. All the novels of the series feature the life story of the twins Alex and Conner Bailey, who are also the main characters of the series. The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘The Land of Stories: Wishing Spell’. It was published in the year 2012 by the Little, Brown and Company publishing house based in New York. The plot of the novel follows the magical journey of the twins Conner and Alex Bailey as they fall into some other dimension through a magical book. As they move into the new dimension, they find all the famous characters from the fairy tales alive. The cherished book through which the twins pass seems to have some mysterious powers in its stories. As Conner and Alex leave their real life world, they find themselves waking up in a foreign world which seems to be full of magic and wonder. Soon, the twins come face to face with all the fairy characters from the cherished book which they grew up reading all through their life. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, the worlds of the twins Conner and Alex Bailey seems to undergo a change as they indulge themselves in reading a magic book.

The treasured book about fairy tales is handed to them by their grandmother. As they begin to read the book, they do realize the fact that their worlds are going to change suddenly and they are going to enter into a world that they have never imagined about. When the twins enter the Land of Stories, they encounter all the fairy tale characters that they have been reading about throughout their childhood. But soon the two of them discover that the fairy tales that they seemed to know very well do not end in the same way as they have read about them. Also, the stories do not end in the magical land of the new world. The twins come to know about a fugitive named Goldilocks. Also, they learn that Queen Cinderella is pregnant with a child and the Red Riding Hood owns a kingdom of her own. After experiencing the different colors of the magical world the twins desperately want to go back to their home in the real world. But they seem to be chased by the Evil Queen who seems to have some legendary powers and it is going to be interesting to see whether they become successful in finding a way out of the magical world of fairy tales or they will be falling prey to the deadly intentions of the Evil Queen. Over the course of a few following events, Conner Bailey and Alex Bailey encounter a series of wolves, witches, trolls, and goblins, that make them realize that getting back to their normal life is going to be much harder than they imagined. Other than the printed version of the novel, author Chris Colfer has also recorded an audio book in his voice. The novel also went on to get translated into a number of foreign languages, including Italian, Hebrew, Portuguese, Russian, French, Greek, and Dutch and sold a number of printed copies all over the world.

The second novel of the series was published under the title ‘The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns’ and continued to depict the lives of the twins Alex Bailey and Conner Bailey, who are the primary characters of the series, in a magical world of fairy tales. It was published by the Little Brown Books publishing house in the year 2013. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, the evil Enchantress who had cursed the Sleeping Beauty is described as getting back after hiding for decades, but this time she has come with the intention of having her vengeance. Since their adventures in the first novel of the series, Conner and Alex Bailey have not visited the magical world of the land of Stories. But during one night, they come to know that their mother has been held captive by the famous Enchantress. Now, the twins are required to find a way into the mysterious world of the Land of Stories once again in order to save their mother from the evil Enchantress. However, their grandmother does not approve of the idea of going back into the magical world of another dimension, especially after remembering what all they had to face during their first visit. But, the twins are determined to rescue their beloved mother and also to save the magical world of fairy tales from from the greatest threat ever from the evil Enchantress. When the twins return back to the mysterious world of the Land of Stories, they do not find it to be the same joyful world that they had left at the end of the first novel of the series.

The whole magical world of the fairy tales seems to be living in a fear because of the return of the evil Enchantress, who has come out of hiding for her vengeance from the fairy tale world. The evil hands of the Enchantress reach out into the peaceful worlds of Conner Bailey and Alex Bailey, and kidnaps their mother. Is spite of the repeated warnings from their grandmother, the twins are forced to defy her orders and enter into the magical new world of fairy tales in order to rescue their mother. In their mission, they get the much required help from the Queen Red Riding Hood, who seems to be reluctant to help in the beginning but agrees to help at the end. The outlaws of the fairy tale world, Jack and Goldilocks also help the twins in their determined efforts to save their mother. Even the old amphibian and one of the close friends of the twins, Froggy also gives them a helping hand and try to prove his worth in all the ways that he could. The novel seems to be an action packed thriller and a perfect sequel to the first novel of the series, which went on to become a New York Times bestseller. The plot of the novel seems to be filled with danger in all the corners as the journey of the twins, Alex Bailey and Conner Bailey take them to the never imagined magical and deadly places throughout the course of the novel.

   i was just wondering if you had to read the land of stories in order or not because i got book six from the library and did not realize they had a certain order

     This series certainly should be read in order. I love to support young readers so I would be happy to purchase all 6 books for you and get them sent to your house(or school). Ask your parents if it’s okay to give me your address and if so, I can get all 6 books sent to you immediately.
