Laura Alden – Description of Her Two Famous Books (Written in an early book series) : Among the plethora of books, the “Beth Kennedy Series” is unquestionably the best ever book series as written by the author. This book series has five books in total (as of now); each of the novels specially unveils a completely new world of engaging & unconventional cozy mystery. In this context, here’s a short description of two early books (featured under this book series) that will surely help you to understand the insightful background of it.
1. Murder at the PTA : This is the first book under the “Beth Kennedy Series” which was published in 2010. The entire books series features the unique yet main character, “Beth Kennedy” who is a divorced woman & mother of two young kids.
In a small town of Wisconsin (around a distance of 5 miles from Madison), Beth Kennedy runs a children bookstore. Apart from running her business & raising her children, Beth Kennedy was agreed to become the secretary of their local PTA (Parent Teacher Association) when her best friend Marina raised this proposal.
Beth Kennedy now attends her first meeting where the principal, Agnes Mephisto wants to make an important & outstanding announcement. Every parent is quite leery about her upcoming announcement. She announces that an anonymous benefactor has recently agreed to fund some new additions & renovations to their school. That’s why she has hired an architect & no one but just she can only provide any input about this latest renovation. As usual, most of the parents are exploded in opposition and the entire town is in an uproar after this announcement.
During this very situation, Beth Kennedy gets an urgent message from her friend Marina that the principle Agnes Mephisto is dead; she is murdered. But who has actually killed the most disliked principal in the history? Obviously, there are so many suspects to count. That’s why Beth and Marina will now team up in order to find the real killer.
But soon they’ll realize solving this murder case will not be that easy as they’ve thought. Will Beth Kennedy & Marina find the real killer of the victim? The story continues with little romance and humor & tons of surprises, twists, and suspense.
2. Foul Play at the PTA : This is the second book in “Beth Kennedy series” that was originally published in 2011. This book also features the major character, Beth Kennedy who solves typical murder cases & unveils the actual truth behind the deep suspense.
The divorced mother, PTA secretary & hockey enthusiast, Beth’s second foray in solving another cozy mystery is quite believable, the other subplots are fun & interesting, and the secondary characters are also well-written & well-executed.
As the holidays are approaching quickly, one of the staffs of Beth’s children bookstore applies for leave and then Beth appoints another potential candidate Yvonne who really loves books and children. But Yvonne was accused of a murder case earlier & she was eventually released after the DNA test.
Now, one of PTA member, Sam Helmsetter, is found strangled to death in his own vehicle. Then, the new president of PTA announces that Beth’s newly appointed employee has killed the victim. Thus, the president organizes a boycott against Beth’s bookstore and the police also arrests Beth’s employee.
Now, in order to save Yvonne’s neck & her reputation, both Beth & her best friend Marina will investigate the case on their own and find out the real strangler. Will they be able to identify the actual culprit & save Yvonne? – the story continues with major twist & turns!
