Laura Van Wormer is an American author of fiction. Her full name is Laura Eleanor Van Wormer. She was born in 1955 and spent her childhood growing up in Darien, Connecticut.

Laura Van Wormer went to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications hosted at Syracuse University and graduated there. She has spent much of her adult life working in the publishing world, which has made her a good candidate to be a full-time author as she knows this world exclusively. She currently spends her time living, working and playing in Manhattan and another New England location that’s quite different from the big city– Meriden, Connecticut.

She is the author of the Sally Harrington series. The debut novel in this series is titled Expose. It was released in 1999. There are six books in this series, ending with the 2006 novel Mr. Murder. She has also written a lot of fictional novels that aren’t in a concise series. This started in 1986 with the release of Knots Landing: The Saga of Seaview Circle. It was followed by 1988’s Riverside Drive, West End in 1989 (also known by the alternate title Alexandra Waring, Benedict Canyon in 1992, and then a series of novels with the most recent being Riverside Park in 2009.

In addition to writing her own novels, Laura Van Wormer has contributed to the Dallas series in the 1985 novel The Complete Ewing Family Saga. She also wrote the nonfiction novel, Dallas: The Official Biography of the Ewings in 1985.

Expose is the first book in the Sally Harrington series. The main character is the one that the series is named for; Sally Harrington. She’s a young woman that works as a journalist in Connecticut. She is also about to get a huge break thanks to her actions and part in rescuing a wealthy couple that had become lost in the woods of Connecticut. Now she has been given an opportunity to make a piece that could boost her career.

The piece is for the high-profile Expectations magazine. It’s supposed to be focused on Cassy Cochran, a television mogul. This is the type of opportunity that most journalists dream about getting. But instead of being her dream assignment, the piece quickly turns into a living nightmare for the young journalist. Sally gets to work on the expose, but what is supposed to be a hard-hitting feature that’s going to make her career starts a series of events that begin to send her life into chaos.

Sally has no idea that an innocent (well, maybe damaging) piece on a mogul would have such a huge effect on her life, which is now officially spinning out of control with no end in sight. She doesn’t even suspect that it is this assignment that’s actually going to bring her to face a horrible murder. Can she escape with her life intact and the piece completed? Pick up Expose to find out!

The Last Lover is the second book in the exciting Sally Harrington series. It was released in 2000. Readers will be thrilled to pick up again with hotshot journalist Sally Harrington, who feels that she is finally starting to get things right. Not only is her career going really well, but she’s also found herself in a relationship that makes her happier than any other person she has seen in years.

The man responsible for her happiness is handsome, charming, and perfect for her. He works as a Manhattan book editor, which is perfect since Sally is a Connecticut journalist and can always easily commute to the big city should she need to. It’s the perfect relationship, and Sally thinks this might be the one. Things have slowly started to get more serious. As far as Sally is concerned, she is all in.

Little does she know that things are about to take a wild turn. Sally never really sees the events coming, and how could she? They occur one after the other in what is only 48 hours. Other people never have this kind of bad luck! Sally is baffled as to what is going on and confused. In just the course of two days and two nights, her relationship has hit a huge pothole, her career is totally off the rails, her bank accounts are completely compromised, and she finds herself publicly vulnerable.

Who could do this? Sally racks her brains to figure it out. There’s no lover like a lover scorned, and only a jilted lover would attempt to do damage on this type of scale to an individual. It’s too grand and too focused to be anything but a personal vendetta against her. This hunch of Harrington’s turns out to be correct as the last man she saw romantically was Spencer Hawes, and she thought it ended amicably enough. Apparently, Spencer still has a score to settle.

Sally tries to figure out where Spencer is, but it seems that he has totally dropped off the face of the planet. Sally does some searching, and she believes that he has run off with a beautiful Hollywood actress named Lilliana Martin. With Spencer on the move, Sally has no idea what to do. Then she’s shocked when the movie star’s ex-boyfriend stumbles across her path, practically dead in the process. Was Spencer responsible for this? Sally has no idea, but the fact that it was practically on her doorstep seems strange.

Before all of this, Sally had it all going for. She was good-looking, talented, and young, with a steady boyfriend and her whole future ahead of her. But it’s funny how just one person can turn it all upside down. In just a manner of hours, her life has gone from amazing to an amazing mess. She’s determined to put out this fire, but first, she has to track down an ex that definitely hasn’t moved on completely. In a world where fantasy and reality seem to blur, Harrington has to put her skills as a journalist to the test and track down the one person that she doesn’t really want to find.

Set in the world of Hollywood, entertainment, and publishing, The Last Lover is a glamorous murder mystery brimming with action. Can Sally set things straight, or is her ex too out of control to be contained? Pick up this exciting novel from Laura Van Wormer to find out!
