Laurann Dohner is a reputed USA Today and NY Times bestselling American writer of paranormal, romance, fantasy, and science fiction stories. She is well known for writing the VLG series, Night Pack series, Vorge Crew series, Veslor Mates series, Cyborg Seduction series, Zorn Warriors series, and the Mating Heat series. Dohner has also contributed a collection of short stories called Alien along with other authors such as Leora Gonzales, Tara Nina, and Jaid Black. A few of her books have been written in collaboration with author Kele Moon. In addition to being a full-time author, Dohner also performs the duties of a full-time mother and wife. She considers herself lucky to have spent more than 2 decades with her loving husband and looks forward to spending many more lovely years with him. The things that she is addicted to include an iced coffee and candy bars.
Usually, Dohner tries to get at least 5 hours of sleep and spend the rest in working towards the development of her novels. As a writer, Dohner is interested in writing all types of stories. According to her, the best thing about writing is that you control things and make sure that there is always a happy ending. Whereas in real life, there is always uncertainty and life keeps tossing things one after the other without our control over them. Whenever Dohner sits down to write anything, she likes to put on her headphones and turn on loud music. This helps her to block the outside world and focus on creating worlds for her stories. As of now, Dohner resides in Southern California along with her loving husband and their four children.
Dohner claims to have always been a daydreamer and a great fan of books. She has a great belief in romance. While growing up, she did not have even the smallest of hints that she would go on to make a career in the field of writing. However, she had a deep interest in reading different kinds of books. Dohner was very small when she had finished reading different series of novels, including Nancy Drew’s Pippi Longstocking, Trixie Beldon’s The Hardy Boys, The Borrowers, and several others. At the age of 9, she had access to an adult library card, where she used to visit quite often. It was during her library visits that Dohner got acquainted with the works of Stephen King, Agatha Christie, John Saul, Richard Laymon, etc.
The exposure to romance was so mesmerizing that she got hooked instantly. During her teens, Dohner wrote poetry and then shifted her focus towards writing short stories. Her first novel was started after she came across a book that was filled with horrible characters and realized that she could do much better. Dohner completed writing her first book in the early 1990s. But, she could not find a publisher to get it released. So, she decided to divide the book into different segments and develop it into a series. After writing for fun, for several years, it was finally in 2009 that Dohner was able to get her first novel published. Dohner’s first sci-fi was immediately accepted by a publishing company after which she continued writing sci-fi stories in the later years. Author Dohner believes that her writing career has been quite a terrific ride till now. It gives her immense pleasure to know that she has finally succeeded in writing on a full-time basis. She thinks of it as a dream come true.
A successful series written by author Laurann Dohner is known as the New Species series. It consists of paranormal, fantasy, erotica, and romance stories that take place in California, United States. Some of the essential characters mentioned in the books by Dohner include Justice North, Ellie Brower, Breeze, Slade, Fury North, Dr. Trisha Norbit, Valiant, Tiger, Jessie Dupree, Tammy, Tiny, Brawn, Beauty, HalfPint, Flame, Becca Oberto, Lauren Henderson, Amanda Davis, Zandy Smiley, Allison Baker, Joyce Yards, etc. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘Fury’. It was released by Ellora’s Cave Publishing in 2011. Initially, it is depicted that Ellie Brower works in a pharmaceutical company. When she finds out that the company is involved in carrying out illegal experiments, she becomes very much horrified.
Through her findings, Ellie learns that the company scientists have sliced the DNAs of humans and animals for creating exotic new species. One of the new species created from the experiment captures the heart of Ellie and she is willing to do whatever she can to save him. She doesn’t even bother if the subject, known by the name Fury, will hate her for the rest of their lives. Fury has not known love or compassion. He has spent all his life inside a cell, locked with chains and abused by the surrounding humans. Ellie is the only woman whom he trusted for showing sympathy and compassion towards him. But now, he thinks that she has betrayed him.
After achieving freedom through the efforts of Ellie, Fury is determined to have vengeance. He vows to kill Ellie, but when he has her in his grasp, he does not feel like harming her. The touch of Ellie’s hands and body makes Fury attracted towards her. He is unable to resist her presence and seems obsessed with her scent. Ellie wants to be Fury and has always dreamed about it. She craves for the big, strong body of Fury and wishes to mend his broken heart. However, taming the beast is going to be an extremely difficult task and Ellie knows it very well.
The second volume of this series is called ‘Slade’. It was also published in 2011 by the Ellora’s Cave publication. The book opens by depicting that Dr. Trisha is pinned down by big New Species on one of the beds at the hospital. In spite of being drugged, the man is determined to make love to her. Dr. Trisha is saved by the hospital staff, who intervene at the right time and catch hold of the big man. Trisha thinks that she will never forget the man or his act. But, when she sees him at Homeland later, he is unable to recognize her. Trish wants to study the breeding habits of the new species at Homeland and Slade agrees to help her. When Slade sees that Dr. Trisha is showing an interest in him, he offers her a one-night stand.
Trisha is not willing to accept this offer. Slade tells her that he cannot offer more as he was betrayed by a woman once in the past and doesn’t want to make the mistake of trusting another woman again. But, when he comes to know that Trisha is the same woman, he receives the shock of his life. Later, Trisha’s life falls in danger and Slade comes to her rescue. While running through the wilderness to save their lives, the two indulge in a passionate romance and accept each other as lovers. But, they are unaware of the consequences that lie ahead and don’t know that their lives are going to change forever.

When is Kade Of Nightwind Pack coming out ? I saw at end of book 3 that there will be one of Kade, I love all your books,, I think Miles needs a book also.
I was wondering if there will be a book about Vengeance, I just finished rereading Tiger’s story and well Vengeance gets to me. I just really wish Vengeance gets a second chance and finds someone to love. He breaks my heart with his sad story of loosing his mate and how lonely he feels.
I’m also wondering about Vengeance and a couple others. do you have any plans to come back to this series. I have all of them and just loved this series. Was sad when it was done and hoping you would do some more on this!
Loved the entire New Species series and have reread many times. Would love to see stories written for Vengeance, Jericho, Brass, Harley, Flame, Breeze, Kit and Slash. Also, hope female love interests are stronger and not always lead by their libidos. Perhaps a fight for dominance, which of course male species always win (wink).
