This has led to her creating rich and immersive worlds written from an idyllic viewpoint, allowing her readers to draw meaning from her work that they can use in their own lives. Whilst positive and uplifting, she can still move her readers an various different ways, with many themes and ideas running throughout her work. Highly emotive, she’s a writer whose work is going to be read for generations to come, as more and more discover her novels every day.

Early and Personal Life:

Born in 1952 on the 2nd of August, Lawana Blackwell was always interested in literature, and the rich and inventive worlds it could offer her. Building upon this, she would apply herself to the discipline, gradually drawing out her own voice and style in the process. Setting much of her work in the English countryside, she’d seek to transport the reader, whilst saying something profound at the same time.

Whilst Blackwell may live in Louisiana, she sets many of her novels in an English rural setting in the 19th century. This is a theme that has stuck with her throughout much of her career, as she has gained a unique understanding of the time period. Writing with a high degree of authenticity, her knowledge of the era has also brought it to life in a modern contemporary age.

Her novels would be largely inspirational, a genre that Blackwell was increasingly drawn to over the years. Saying something deeper, she would speak directly through her fiction, using some of her own life to help inspire her work. This would continue to evolve, as she refined and honed her voice, elaborating upon her style, and creating something new in the process.

Writing Career:

Publishing her first book in 1995, Lawana Blackwell would make her grand literary debut with the novel ‘Like a River Glorious’. This would also be the first in her highly popular series of ‘Victorian Serenade’ titles, of which there were four lasting till 1997. Set in Victorian times, it would be a historical saga dealing themes of faith and religion, something that was extremely personal to Blackwell.

This honest sense of intimacy would be something that she’d bring to all of her novels, and would again be seen in ‘Gresham Chronicles’ series. Later she’d also bring out her ‘Tales of London’ trilogy in 2000, and two stand-alone titles, on 2005 titled ‘A Table by the Window’, and one in 2016 called ‘A Haven on Orchard Lane’. All of this would see her become a household name for many all across the world, with her books providing comfort and warmth for many.

Speaking directly from the heart, Lawana Blackwell would have a lot to say, writing on themes of love and romance. Whilst her stories have largely been written from a historical perspective, she’s proven to be extremely easy to relate to. Many have taken to her work finding it offers them messages and meaning for their own lives, taking the positive ideas and lessons from her work.

There are more novels planned for the future, as her fans clamour for further stories and novels from her. Not putting away the pen, she has more to offer, and is always looking for new ideas to help inspire and motivate her. These stories will then in turn carry on providing her many readers with the hope and enjoyment that they’ve now come to expect from her work.

The Jewel Of Gresham Green

It’s a Victorian romance story with a warm heart set to an idyllic backdrop, filled with color and passion throughout.

Taking place in the Victorian times, this is set in an English small-town, as Andrew becomes ill meaning he must seek the skills of the surgeon’s son. Meanwhile the daughter of Vicar Andrew Phelps is on a quest for privacy, as she inadvertently advances the schemes of an evil man. Then there’s the newcomer Jewel Libby, as she proves to be a source of support for the family, as they turn to her for strength. Will they all find what they’re looking for? Can they overcome these obstacles before them? What will become of the Jewel of Gresham Green?

Working as a historical piece, it would pay close attention to detail throughout, making sure to keep it all entirely authentic and entertaining.

Set at the end of the nineteenth century, this takes place in the world of the London theatre, opening up a fascinating world filled with insight. Feeling the wrath of Muriel Pearce Holt, the new leading lady of London’s Royal Court Theatre, Bethia Rayborn is the wardrobe mistress that must contend with her. I absolutely love your books, especially, the Gresham Chronicles. My only complaint is there was no book between ‘The Courtship of the Vicar’s Daughter’ and ‘Jewel of Gresham’.

    Why?
