In recent years he’s fast become a favorite of readers from across the world, with his fun and inventive form of storytelling. This includes terrifying premises and narratives that really grip the reader, as well as make them think in the process too. Understanding the genre perfectly and what it has to offer, he uses all the tools at his disposal to create something decidedly different.

There’s also elements of science-fiction in some of his work too, along with the thriller, all of which has helped to hook his audience. A master of suspense and intrigue, he’s highly gifted at building up the tension throughout his stories, bringing them to an all time crescendo. This is something that has managed to keep his audience reading, glued to the page for every turn of the page. He’s become well established within the horror fan community, making him a firm favorite for many, as his profile continues to grow.

His use of character is also something to be admired, as Mountford focuses on realistic people in otherworldly situations. There’s a lot of subtleties hidden just underneath the surface of each of his stories, as well as being entertaining and highly engaging to read. With a lot more to follow still, he’s definitely a writer with plenty more to say, as he will continue to write and publish for a long time yet.

Early and Personal Life

Coming from the North-East of England, Lee Mountford would grow up with a keen interest in both reading and writing from an early age. This would develop over time, allowing him to create his own style that best utilize his own unique sensibilities as an author. Refining and honing his style, he’d focus mainly on horror, primarily writing stories set within this particular field.

Constantly looking for new and exciting ideas, he’d continually be seeking inspiration during his everyday life. Providing a source of escapism, he would also use his work to impart larger ideas, using the genre as both entertainment and his own voice. Currently still writing to this day, he lives in the North East to this day with his wife Michelle and their daughter Ella, and there’s a lot more books planned upon the horizon.

Writing Career

The first book that Lee Mountford would write and publish was titled ‘Horror in the Woods’ and this was a stand-alone in 2017. He’d follow this up not long after in the same year with ‘The Demonic,’ and this would also be the first in his ‘Supernatural Horror’ series of novels. He would also go on to write the ‘Haunted’ series of novels in 2020, starting with the book ‘Perron Manor,’ followed by ‘Devil’s Door’ and then ‘Purgatory’ that same year.

All of these novels would help to establish Mountford as an important name in the field of horror, making his own unique mark upon the genre. He’s also created omnibus editions of his work as well, collating some of his best into horror collections into two collections coming out in 2019 and 2020. Maintaining a presence online as a well as off, he’s fast become a key figure in the horror community, as he’ll carry on writing for some time to come.

Forest of the Damned

This is the third in the ‘Supernatural Horror Series,’ and while all the stories are separate, they’re all set within the same universe. Originally published in 2019 on the 11th of March, this would first come out through ‘Amazon Media,’ marking another exciting horror novel from Lee Mountford. It can be read as a stand-alone, as the story itself is entirely self-contained, with it only being in the same world as the others.

The book manages to conjure up a creepy and foreboding atmosphere much like the previous novels in the series. Following on from the previous books, it’s very much its own story, giving fans exactly what they want, along with plenty of twists and turns. It also features some well drawn characters at the heart of it too, as they definitely manage to bring the story to life for the reader.

Looking to gather evidence that the paranormal is real, four researchers in the field head off to the Black Forest hoping to investigate the area. It could cost them their souls though, once they find what they’re looking for, as one of them disappears in the dead of the night amidst ghostly apparitions. Then there’s Mother Sibbett who wants to show them the truth about life after death, all beyond the things that go bump in the night. What will they discover there at the end of it all? Can they survive it? What will become of them all in the Forest of the Damned.

The Netherwell Horror

Initially published in 2019 on the 28th of November, this would first come out on the Kindle platform. It would be an entirely stand-alone story, not connected to any others, making its narrative completely self-contained and easy to pick up. An engaging story with elements of thriller as well as horror, it’s extremely well paced, moving along in a vibrant manner, really capturing the reader’s attention, and delivering on all levels for its audience.

Receiving a message from her otherwise estranged brother, Beth Davis heads down to Netherwell Bay to help him, and it’s there she sees weird inexplicable events. It’s here that she also hears talk of ritualistic murders scaring the locals, and a cult is making itself known to the residents there. Soon Beth finds herself before a doorway to Hell, and she must race against the clock to prevent it from opening. Will she be able to stop it in time though? Who is really behind it all? Just what exactly is the Netherwell Horror?
