It is a thrilling story of three orphans that grew up together in California, and at one point of their lives, some events take place that changes their lives completely. This book very easy to read and to understand, and you feel like reading the next page to know what happened, although, towards the end of the book, there is a twist of events that will leave you in suspense.

3) Somerset.

Published by Central Publishing on January 7, 2014, this book portrays a well-developed family saga. It talks about some several families whose lives are connected to abolish slavery, in love in marriages and civil wars. Leila has brought out these events like a real family drama, reading this book; you will be enlightened on many family issues.

Being able to capture reader’s attention is one of the writer’s toughest task, but for Leila, she prides herself in achieving all that, she has been able to get many people to read her fiction stories.    What a loss! I just found out after reading one of Boo Walkers books….also exceptional! He also adored Ms Meacham and spoke of her loss in his epilogue. I was devastated!
   She had a book in the works I thought as I’d written to her I guess before COVID shut us all down! She answered me back saying she was working on another.
   Now she’s gone….a real tragedy to her followers and readers.

   Would you suggest that I read Roses before Sommerset?
   I have read three of Ms Meacham’s books. She is my new favorite authors. I must read them all.

     Somerset is a prequel to Roses so chronologically, it’s set first.

     But personally I would read Roses first. Generally when there’s a prequel, there’s a “reason” for it and it’s more enjoyable if you read in publication order. So I would go with Roses first.
