Nelson Dooley has always been a writer and used to write all manner of things for her church. As such, she always dreamed of one day writing the great American novel.

While she was in her mid-thirties she started thinking of penning a book about a woman inspired by Proverbs 31. In 1984, she was working as a rural mail carrier and used to read all manner of inspirational romances.
It was while she was driving her mail route that she got the germ for her debut story. In May of that year, she went to visit a good friend who had lost her father and was having a hard time.

Lena knew that her friend considered romance novels a waste of time. In fact, she talked down romance as trashy but when she told her she wanted to write inspirational romance, she gave a surprising answer.

Her friend told her that she needed to go for it if that is what she wanted to do. When she, later on, went to the Christian bookstore to get a record, she got to talking to the manager about her dream.

Just like her friend he told her that she needed to go for it if she felt God had given her the talent to write. Over several months she kept hearing a voice telling her to go for it and she finally did.

Lena Nelson Dooley published her first novel in 1992 as she wanted to showcase the difference between an ungodly man and a godly one.

Overall, what she usually desires when penning her novels is for her readers to not only find entertainment in her stories but also to learn something.

During her writing, she does a lot of research to ensure that every book is as faithful as possible to the time period in which it is set, whether it be contemporary or historical.

She has made a reputation for herself writing novels with gripping characters. Her works have won many awards with many becoming bestsellers.

When she is not writing her novels, she can usually be found going out with her girlfriends to grab lunch, mentoring writing students and women in the church, and spending time with her family.
She also loves to hear from her fans and usually engages them on her different profiles on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

“Maggie’s Journey” by Lena Nelson Dooley is the story of Margaret Lenora Caine, a girl that finds out some truth. She is just about to turn eighteen when she learns that her father has been lying to her for years.

She just found a hidden chest in the attic that is proof that she is adopted. The people she knew as her parents are some very rich merchants in Seattle. She is angry and feels betrayed by the parents who brought her up and her real parents.
The only thing she desires most is to have a place where she feels a sense of belonging. However, she has to deal with constant reminders and her mother’s constant criticism.

Her mother believes she is not living up to the social standing befitting of their wealthy home. When she discovered the family secret she lost all sense of identity.

When she tells her mother that she wants to go to Arkansas to visit her grandmother, she agrees but says it is on condition that she has to go along with a chaperone. Aunt Georgia and Charles Stanton her partner are going to be her chaperones.
Will she finally discover her identity and what matters most in her life?

Lena Nelson Dooley’s novel “Mary’s Blessing” is the story of a girl that needs to mature first, so that she can take care of her siblings following the death of her mother.

Mary Lenora Caine is cognizant of the fact that she was adopted and growing up her mother referred to her as God’s blessing. But ever since she died, she does not feel the least bit blessed.
Her father had been overwhelmed by grief and became a passive member, leaving Mary to singlehandedly run the home.

As she is about to turn eighteen, Mary sees nothing but drudgery in her future. But then things get interesting when Daniel her childhood friend starts to court her promising a life of ease and riches.
But her fairy tale dream comes tumbling down when Daniel cannot deal with her family shenanigans. In her deepest time of need, he abandons her and is not heard from her for a long time.

Will he ever return and come to understand what God has in plan for him? But even more important, will Mary ever trust that he will follow through on anything he promises even if he comes back?

“Catherine’s Pursuit” by Lena Nelson Dooley is the story of Catherine. She was the first born of triplets that was raised by her father. But she never grew up with her siblings and feels cheated. She is now very interested in finding her sisters.
She goes on the search for her siblings and her father worried about her safety sends Collins to watch out for her. He is a ship captain that nearly lost his ship and was seriously injured during a terrible storm.

Collin believes she is just a rich and spoilt kid who is just interested in getting her way and is not that interested in watching out for her. However, he is being paid a lot of money and will do his job.

The crux of the story is that perception can sometimes cloud people’s judgments of others. This could result in some bad consequences that could have been avoided by getting to know them better before making any judgments.
