Some secrets are too terrible to reveal…
Some crimes are too unspeakable to solve…

The plot summary of this novel explained as follows. The ” English ” and the Amish residents have lived for over two centuries side by side in a sleepy rural town of Pinters Mill, Ohio. The peace of the farming community was shattered sixteen years ago due to a series of brutal murders. After the violence ended, the city lost its innocence and the town was left with a sense of fragility. A young Amish girl survived this terror and killing of innocent people. Her name was Kate Burkholder and she realized that she no longer belonged with the Amish and she came out of the brutality. Kate had not assumed with mysterious things given that she ended up being half a dozen years back when her mum would likely check the particular storage room and look down below her bed in the evening. Now, after a lot of experience in the field, Kate Burkholder is a Chief of Police and she has been asked to return to painters Mill. She is the perfect candidate for the post of Chief of Police in the Painters Mill as she has a big law enforcement background and she was a former resident of the place. Until the first dead body is found in the snowy field, she’s certain she’s come to terms with her past. She vows to not let the killer strike again and to stop him before his next strike. She has betrayed her Amish past as well as her family in order to show. She has to expose a dark secret to do this, but this can destroy her.

Surrounded within night, she followed the particular difficult drum connected to her heart. She could not avoid ending up being shivered and could not preserve her teeth from chartering. Each second appeared to build upon her system, tighten within terrible anticipations from the monster’s comeback. At the start, she had amused fantasies with evading or persuading her captor to help permit her head out. But she ended up being a new realist; she believed that was not planning to finish effectively. There could well be absolutely no negotiation. Zero law enforcement saving and zero last minute liberation. The colossus was going to get rid of her. It absolutely was no longer a new dilemma connected with the case.

The novel opened to great reviews from the readers worldwide. Even the well-known and established writers praised Linda Castillo for her attempt in the thriller category. The novel won many accolades for her and nominations in some other awards too.

The Planks family shifted from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to join a small Amish group associated with Painters mills below in the past year. Everything looked pretty much normal as they were having the particular basic life until one cold October night, when the whole family was observed as slaughtered on the farm. Law enforcement officials and Police Chief, Kate Burkholder along with her smaller pressure have a handful of hints, simply no reason, without suspecting. Being previously Amish herself, Kate isn’t a new person towards techniques the particular Amish use to save themselves from the particular English and every other but this specific transgression can be badly uncommon.

At one time she finds some sort of diary that belonged to the list of teenage kids. Kate is surprised to find out that the girl kept several dark techniques along with being located to some sort of lurid lifetime. Who is this particular charismatic new person who borrowed the particular young Amish girl’s heart? While Kate’s outrage grows as she strives to solve the case to discover and carry him or her to justice, even if this would mean positioning herself in the distinctive line of fire. This novel too became a hit among the readers and fetched Linda great reviews from one and all. It all added to her name and fame and encouraged her to produce few other masterpieces in the years to come.

I have 14 “Kate Burkholder” books. The only problem is ,as I have gotten them, I have read them straight through in one day. What a GREAT series! Suppose now I’ll have to move on to some other of Linda’s books. Thank you Ms. Castillo for such wonderful stories to pass the time here during the Minnesota winters.

I absolutely love Linda Castillo books and have a hard time putting it down when I get started on one. So far, have read nine of the Kate Burkholder books. I would like to find one not in that series, but that’s what our libraries carry. I go to two different libraries near me and they carry different books, which I love. I’ve just about read all they have. Looking forward to finding a few more haven’t yet read. Keep writing. I love your style.

Your stories are sure things, consistently good procedurals. Love them and the cultural Amish history. Hesitant to read the older non-Kate novels and there aren’t any newer ones. You are so gifted! TY. Penny

I read one of your books by mistake and I now believe I have read all of the Kate Burkholder books. You do a great job and I can’t put the book down until I reach the end. Wish you could write FASTER. Keep up the good work.

I am seventy four years young and had never really gotten to the habit of reading books. At the moment, I am on vacation on Florida. I borrowed one of Linda Castillo books, The Dead Will Tell. As I started reading it I wasn’t sure that I would like it, but to my surprise, I finished the hard cover book in three days. I have become a fan of the “chief” with just one book. My problem is that at 74, I am on fixed income and can’t really afford to buy a lot of new books to read. Can you tell me if public libraries have the Linda Castillo series of books in their libraries to lend out to the public. If they do not have them can you tell me the least expensive way I could obtain the “Chief Burkholder” series of books to read. I am on fixed income with not much help from the government in being happy. Thank you for letting me sound off on my frustrations with being old and I would appreciate any help you might have in getting me to be able to read Linda Castillo’s wonderful works.

Hi! Yes! I’ve been reading these exclusively from the library. And by reading, I mean listening to audiobooks. But they definitely have they books at my library. If your library doesn’t have them, you can always request them. Good luck, Robert!

Why is it that all 8 of the short stories are not in print. I like to hold my books and share them. Will they ever be available in a book?

I love your books. I have read some in one day because I can’t put them down. Very soon I will have all the ones in print. But not the short stories..

Thank you so much for your fantastic books
