Lisa Marie Rice is an American author that writes romance novels with erotic and suspenseful elements.

+Biography

Lisa Marie Rice has always been a creative person. Her interests were always found in the arts, and that includes music and film. As such, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Lisa’s heroines are all artsy in nature.

The occurrence isn’t without a purpose. Like most romance novels, Lisa’s books have strong and aggressive alpha males. And the author loves taking these hardened men and pairing them with women who can introduce the softer aspects of life into their worlds.

It isn’t as much an issue of opposites attracting but, rather, a matter of two lost souls complementing one another. And that is a perspective of the romance genre that Lisa Marie Rice believes she tackles splendidly.

Lisa was in her late teens when she went to Italy. Settling down in Florence, it took Lisa many years before she acclimated to the culture. And she definitely made an effort to adapt to things, this including learning the language.

Her efforts paid off because, after going to Interpreter’s school, she began running all over the country selling her skills to whoever needed an interpreter. The work was hard. Concentration was an essential component, especially when it came to dissecting the vocabulary of her clients, the register of their voice and the hidden meanings in their words, and delivering an accurate translation of their message.

But the experience gave Lisa Marie Rice a keen understanding of people. And because she got to travel, she came into contact with all manner of individuals who inspired her when she finally took up her pen and began to write her stories.

Though, it took a few years for the author to arrive at that moment. Most forty-year-olds you find are taking steps to settle into the career they have pursued up to that point. Lisa got married late in life.

So she was just having her first child at forty. And if that wasn’t enough, it was around that time that the author finally got down to writing. Lisa was an avid reader as a child. She spent more time in her county library than was probably healthy.

However, it wasn’t until 1991 when she sat down to write that she realized how difficult the task could be. The author had the stories in her head. She was never short on imagination. And yet putting those ideas into words within the confines of a novel presented a challenge.

And Lisa’s friends will be the first to tell you just how terrible her first novel was. She was fortunate to have them. They helped her refine her craft. They also helped her overcome the discouragement of receiving so many rejections to her submissions.

Lisa did not get lucky until 1998 when a Kensington editor stumbled upon one her books, loved it and bought five other books from the author. Since then, Lisa Marie Rice’s life has been consumed by writing.

Lisa loves to write sexy romantic suspense. She spent so many years reading the works of authors like Nora Roberts and Suzanne Brockman that the task of producing sexy romance suspense no longer poses a challenge to her.

Lisa aims to make her books as over the top as possible. She gives her heroes and heroines equal screen time. She also endeavors to make her villains as dangerous as they can possibly be, this while giving the love and romance between her protagonists an almost mystical quality.

Lisa’s heroines are always in constant survival mode because of a threat that won’t stop haunting them. And it takes the involvement of an alpha hero for these heroines to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Despite what some people are likely to assume, Lisa Marie Rice does a lot of research for her books. This is because Lisa writes a lot of about military men. Many of her heroes were in the army before their demons sent them packing.

Lisa spends a lot of time pouring over the memoirs and diaries of soldiers, not to mention reading books on geopolitics. The author also takes the time to read up on the professions of her heroines.

It typically takes Lisa three to four months to write a novel. That includes rewrites and edits. She prefers to write from her study which has an amazing view of a sweeping valley.

Lisa encourages aspiring authors to read and write. She has no sage advice to offer on the issue. She wants aspiring writers to realize that they are probably going to write thousands of terrible pages of content before finding their voice and finally delivering a manuscript worth publishing.

She expects those who are willing to tough it out during those early days of terrible writing to eventually succeed.

Lisa Marie Rice is a Pseudonym used by Elizabeth Jennings.

+Midnight Man

John Huntington is the Midnight Man and the last person Suzanne Barron ever wanted to love. The interior designer believed she would eventually find a suitable man who she would slowly but surely fall for in a safe environment.

But the former Navy SEAL threw all those expectations out the window. In fact, Suzanne had sex with John on the very day they met. Now Suzanne needs to find a way to keep her heart safe from John who seems to think that she belongs to him now that he’s had a taste of her.

As danger manifests and unknown enemies make their move, Suzanne finds that John Huntington is the sort of person she wants to have in her corner.

+Into the Crossfire

Nicole Peace is Sam Reston’s worst nightmare. The former Navy SEAL has lived a violent and dangerous life. As such, there is no place in his world for the weak and the helpless. And that is exactly what he sees when he looks at Nicole.

Unfortunately for Reston, Nicole is also the most beautiful woman he has ever met.

Nicole has no time for his secretive neighbor. Her new business is in a precarious position and her father’s health could be better. Nicole doesn’t want to admit the fact that Reston leaves her feeling breathless and tingly.

It will take every ounce of strength Nicole and Reston have to resist one another, especially in light of a dangerous undercover assignment that requires Reston’s attention.
