Lorelei James is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary erotic western romances set in the modern day wild west, as well as contemporary erotic romances. She’s written several series in alignment with these genres along with three standalone titles. She has also written several darker, grittier mystery series under the pseudonym Lori Armstrong. Lorelei James’ books have been nominated for and won the Romantic Times Reviewer’s choice Award and the CAPA award. Lorelei lives in Western South Dakota with her family and, allegedly, a closet full of cowboy boots.

Lorelei James has written four erotica series, three single titles and one anthology, aside from her collection written as Lori Armstrong, which includes two mystery series, an anthology, and two novellas.

“Roped In” is the first book in Lorelei’s “Blacktop Cowboys” series. It tells the story of Sutton Grant, who is a champion bulldogger who works hard on the road but has earned the nickname “The Saint,” because he’s not one for one night stands and hookups. When his career is put on hold due to an injury and he needs help to keep his horse in shape, he’s forced to hire professional horse trainer London Gradsky. His attempts to sweet talk her go unanswered, however, because she hates his guts.

After London is heartbroken and humiliated when her boyfriend leaves her, and the humiliation is made worse when she’s forced to see the happy couple together at rodeo events. In order to make herself seem less pathetic, she agrees to help smooth-talking Sutton Grant, with the condition that Grant has to pretend to be her boyfriend.

Before too long, the relationships stops being pretend and their attraction turns red hot. London realizes that Sutton is no “Saint” in bed and Grant can see himself being tied to London long term.

The next book in the series, titled “Hillbilly Rockstar,” follows country music star Devin McClain. While he realizes that life in the spotlight can get crazy, he never imagined that some fans would go to any lengths to get close to him. When he receives threats that seem a little too real for his comfort, Devin decides to hire a security guard, but is surprised when his new security detail is a muscled, hard- bodied woman to whom he can’t fight an attraction.

Liberty Masterson, an ex-soldier, finds that returning to civilian life is full of challenges and obstacles she was never prepared for in the army. This changes when she’s offered a job as the discreet security detail to country musician Devin McClain. Then, of course, comes the catch: she is supposed to pretend to be the famous musician’s girlfriend. Although she would rather provide protection in the standard uniform she’s more comfortable in, Liberty concedes defeat and agrees to masquerade as the sexy groupie her client requires.

Of course, it’s not long before Devin realizes that he no longer wants the relationship to be fake, and the close-quarters living situation of the tour bus begins to ignite a true attraction in both of them, and while Lindsay follows his every command in bed, she fears that Devin is only attracted to the pretty, high-heeled, roadie side of her that he sees, and Devin starts to fear that when the music tour ends, so will they.

The Blacktop Cowboys series continues with several more installments filled with red-hot passion and modern western life.

The Mercy Gunderson Mysteries is the first series written by Lorelei James under the name of Lori Anderson. The first book, “Mercy,” introduces Mercy Gunderson, who has just returned to her home of South Dakota after service in the army. Arriving immediately after the death of her father, Mercy is left with the decision of what to do with her family’s ranch. Apart from having to live with the guilt of not seeing her father one last time before his death and having to contend with her sister and nephew, Mercy also is forced to deal with the fact that the body of a young Native-American boy was found on her land, and she is the only one who seems to care about it. When another body is found, Mercy is forced to conduct her own investigation and begins to uncover dark secrets surrounding the crimes and must race the clock to find a murderer before more people are killed and everything her family has worked for is destroyed.

The second book in the series, “Mercy Kill,” shows Mercy still struggling with the civilian life that has been thrust upon her. To make re-entry to civilization easier, she accepts a part-time job as a bartender; however, her attempts at a normal life are thwarted when an old army buddy of hers, Jason Hawley, is sent to convince ranchers to get behind a project that would allow a Canadian oil company, Titan Oil, to run a pipeline under the county. The proposition begins to form a rift between business and landowners, and Mercy finds the decision a hard one to make.

After a series of nasty threats and fights, Mercy finds Hawley’s body battered and beaten in the parking lot of the bar she works at. Sheriff Dawson appears to be more concerned with his re-election campaign than solving Hawley’s killer, Mercy decided to do whatever it takes to find the murderer, even if it means running for the Sheriff’s position to get the police force and community to pay attention to her. In Mercy’s investigation, she discovers that her old army friend had his share of secrets, and she soon uncovers her town’s dark, hidden secrets; secrets that threaten to derail the community.

Along with the third installment to the “Mercy Gunderson Mystery” series, titled “Merciless,” Lorelei James has also written the “Julie Collins Mysteries”, an anthology named “No Rest for the Dead,” and two novellas under the false name of Lori Anderson.

I just started reading your books. I found the McKay series by accident and can’t stop. I have 2 on order.

I like Joyce hope you continue their stories with the grandkids and friends of the families….

I absolutely LOVED all the stories about the McKay family. I didn’t want the series to ever end!

I hope there will be stories about the McKay offspring coming up! Kyler, Gibb and all their siblings and cousins as adults.

Found reading order lists for you books, I am almost through the McKay series. I’m 74 yrs. Old, I would love and I know others would too. A written family tree for the McKay and West’s? I can’t keep the names and kids straight.
