About Lori Benton
Largely known for her inspirational novels, Lori Benton is a highly regarded of author of romance books, with many featuring historical and Christian elements. These have proven to be hugely successful over the years, drawing in a strong readership from all over, as she has gone on to become a household name for an ever increasing audience. Known for her focus on the 18th century, her novels recall a past that resonates with readers all around the world, while also remaining true to what actually happened. Early and Personal Life:
Investing herself in the power of story from an early age, Lori Benton would come to see it as the prism with which to amplify her own sense of faith. This would develop throughout the years, as her work would come to heavily reflect her own various different ideas and beliefs. From this would come a new and interesting voice, and one that spoke to readers from all over, with her idiosyncratic and unique style.

Setting herself apart in terms of her approach to her writing, Benton would feature a whole variety of different stories and themes throughout her career. Taking hikes in the mountains with her husband, she is always on the lookout for fresh, new, and exciting ideas for her work. Showing a strong fascination in history too, especially 18th century history, she continues to write to this present day.

Writing Career:
Bringing out her first novel back in 2013, Lori Benton would make her big debut with the title ‘Burning Sky,’ which was a stand-alone. She’d later bring out her next novel the following year in 2014, which was also a stand-alone titled ‘The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn’. It would be in 2015, though, that she’d release the first in her much loved series of Pathfinders books ‘The Wood’s Edge.’

This would see her make a name for herself, as she’d continue to build her profile on into 2016 with the follow up ‘A Flight of Arrows.’ Later she’d also publish the first in her ‘Kindred’ series, which was called ‘Mountain Laurel,’ published in 2020. Winning various awards for her work, including the ‘Audie Award for Inspirational/Faith Based Fiction’, she’s gone on the be massive success, which will carry on for some time yet.

A Flight of Arrows
Initially released through the WaterBrook publishing label, this would originally come out in 2016 on the 19th of April. Marking the second title in the Pathfinders series of books, it continues the ongoing historical saga, with the different arcs of the characters brought forwards. The previous novel ‘The Wood’s Edge,’ would introduce many of the characters, with this carrying on in much the same vein, with plenty of twists and turns of its own.
Taking place between October in 1776 and August 1777, this is a historical novel set within a formative period of American history. Featuring a clash of cultures, it tells an epic story filled with the many themes and ideas that are now instrumental to the work of Lori Benton. Building a high level of suspense throughout, it really manages to capture both the feel of the time, as well as the plight of the characters.

When he was a small child to young to remember, William was stolen from the Oneida Tribe by his now adopted father Reginald, as he grows up to have his identity completely shattered. Enlisting in the British army, William finds himself training with Loyalist refugees, as they seek to annihilate the rebels, having been forced into exile. Knowing his family of birth now, William must reconcile with his own past, with him amongst the British troops preparing to attack frontier New York, along with the Patriot regiments. Will the people of Oneida be able to reclaim the son that marches towards them? Can William reconcile his own past? What will become of them all when they face a flight of arrows?

Many Sparrows
Once again released through the WaterBrook publishing label, this would come out on the 29th of August in 2017. Working as a stand-alone novel, it wouldn’t be a part of any series, but it would be similar to many of Benton’s other novels in terms of themes and ideas. Developing her approach to the historical genre set in Frontier America, it would provide another side to life there, with it’s own interesting perspective.
The settler Clare Inglesby has been widowed and left in the crossing of a mountain, while Jacob, her young son, has been kidnapped by the Shawnee Tribe. Now she must travel to their hideout and rescue him, bringing him back to safety, crossing the Ohio River, as she heads deep into their country. With the help of Jeremiah Ring, a frontiersman, they journey there, but it’s Jeremiah finds that his own Shawnee sister, known as Rain Crow, has taken Jacob for her own calling him Many Sparrows, that he must question whether he can keep his promise to Clare. How will their loyalties and ties test them all? Can they overcome these difficult hurdles? What will become of Many Sparrows?
