Writing historical and romance novels, the American writer Lyn Cote really knows how to make the most of her material. This has allowed vast numbers of readers to find meaning in her work that they may not elsewhere, as she has a clear and articulate voice. With something to say too, she really resonates with her audience, as she reaches readers from all across the world, regardless of where they’re from.
Her characters are extremely well drawn, as she brings her rich and inventive worlds to life, allowing her readers to fully immerse themselves within them. This has proven to be a hugely successful formula, giving her a distinctive style that many have come to appreciate over the years. With a lot more to come yet, she has plenty more titles planned for release on the horizon, giving readers a positive experience through her work.
Early and Personal Life:
Born in 1949 on the 19th of February, future author to be Lyn Cote was born and raised in the United States, which would come to inform much of her writing. Growing up with a love of books too, she would often eagerly await the Bookmobile each Friday in her Illinois neighbourhood, making the decision of what to get. This would then inspire her to become a writer herself in the years to follow, finding her own voice and outlook on the craft.
Reading scores of historical books during her early years too, she would come to hold a fascination with history, something which would come to influence her work as well. Her junior year English teacher would also be someone she’d come to credit for her success in later life too, with her helping her to become more invested in the craft of writing. Winning prizes for her poetry in both high-school and college, she would go on to pursue this love of writing, developing it greatly.
Working as an English and history teacher, she would pass on her knowledge, before becoming a mother and turning away from teaching. It was around this time that she would turn to writing full-time, all whilst raising both her son and her daughter at home. This would lead to the release of her first novel, and then she’d write her second and third whilst at home too, leading to where she is today.
Currently putting out work regularly still, she maintains a strong presence both online and off, continuing to find new fans making her an international household name. Writing stories that are positive and inspirational, she seeks to elevate her readers, providing them with a feeling they wouldn’t get elsewhere. Living with her husband beside a lake in the scenic Northwoods, she continues to seek new ideas for her next big novel.
Writing Career:
Publishing her first novel back in 1998, Lyn Cote would make a name for herself with the romance title ‘Never Alone’. It would be stand-alone book, and she would only write three self-contained novel, as she’d largely focus on her many long-running series. Bringing out ‘New Man in Town’ in 1999, and ‘Hope’s Garden’ in 2000, she’d come a long way extremely quickly, before going on to create the franchises she’s now best known for.
Releasing ‘Whispers of Love’ in 1999, Cote would begin her ‘Blessed Assurance’ series of novels, which would be a collection of inspirational titles. Other inspirational series she’d publish would be ‘Bountiful Blessings’ starting in 2001, and ‘Northern Intrigue’ beginning in 2002. In time, these would prove to be hugely influential alongside Cote’s brand of historical and romance novels as well.
Using themes of inspiration, Lyn Cote is an extremely positive author, and one who speaks directly to the reader in a profound way. Not just entertaining her audience, she provides important messages and lessons through her work that stay with the reader long after they’ve put the book down. This has made a strong impact on her international audience, with readers from around the world relating to her words and ideas.
Winning awards for her work too, she’s been a finalist in the prestigious RWA’s RITA award, which is the highest available in the inspirational genre. This has seen her becoming hugely successful, with her often writing articles for the Christian Bookseller’s Association too. Guided by her faith just as much as she is her love of words, she is definitely a writer to continue watching in the years to come.
Never Alone
The debut release of Cote, it really works as a romance novel, with themes of faith and love running throughout. Originally published through the ‘Love Inspired’ publishing outlet, this would first be released on the 24th of April in 1998. Can they start a whole new life together? Will they be never alone?
Summer’s End
The third title in the ‘Northern Intrigue’ series of novels, these books would be linked thematically, in that they would be located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Knowing much about the area, Lyn Cote brings it to life, with all it mystery, romance and magic, using the idyllic setting to its full potential. Released through the Tyndale House Publisher’s label, this would initially come out on the 15th of October in 2003 to much acclaim.
Taking on a practice in Steadfast, Wisconsin, Dr. Kirsi Royston has no idea what’s coming her way when she does. Pursued by danger, a number of strange happenings begin to occur, with Dr. Doug Erickson taking it upon himself to protect Kirsi.
