M.Z. Kelly is an American author.

Kelly has worked in law enforcement for over three decades. He has dealt with felony offenders, recommending sentences, overseeing a jail, developing programs to keep the streets safe, and more in the southern California region.

Kelly is the creator of the Hollywood Alphabet series. The murder mystery thriller series kicked off in 2014 and readers were able to follow up with the many more novels that came out after! There are nearly two dozen novels in the series with more room to grow. The sequel to Hollywood Assassin came out shortly after and is titled Hollywood Blood. Hollywood Assassin is the first book in the Hollywood Alphabet series. In this debut installment of this detective series, readers get to meet the main character of Kate Sexton for the first time!

Kate Sexton is a detective for the LAPD. Things were going along okay for her, but now it appears that they could not be worse. Things have certainly been going into a downward spiral lately, and she fears that she is going down along with the state of her life.

Now this detective is left to pick up the pieces after he cheated and their life together fell apart. He was gone shortly after and is now her ex-husband. That wasn’t all to happen, either. There was a DVD that held all of his actions that went around and embarrassed her on top of it all.

Things have turned even worse as she is totally broke. Her finances are in bad shape and now she has resorted to choosing a new life. This involves living in a walk up located over an appliance store. She shares the space with Bernie, her dog.

She’s also trying to save a cop’s reputation and life in the process. They have been accused of the crime, but this detective has a strong hunch that he isn’t the truly guilty party. It could even be a careful cover by the real killer who is attempting to frame someone else for their work and actions so they can keep on going.

Kate’s life is certainly more challenging than ever. Maybe this was a long time coming. No one made her marry her husband or get into what is one of the more challenging career fields out there. It is not easy to be a detective with the LAPD, as anyone who has ever done it can attest. It is a job where the things that you see can cause you to lose sleep.

Kate is doing her best to tackle this case and solve it, but is she running out of time? The killer is far more cunning than any that she has come up against previously in the past. She’s doing her best to try and stay out of the way of the killer to avoid becoming their next target while also doing everything that she possibly can in order to crack this case.

She has to take care of her dog while keeping tabs on her friend and also attempting to free a cop from a horrible fate and avoiding a killer.
