Margaret Tanner is a multi-published and award-winning author of Western romance, Historical Romance, and Contemporary Romance fiction with some sizzle.

Throughout her long career, she has held many jobs including working as a primary school principal’s assistant, army reservist, doctor’s receptionist, government worker, electoral office worker, medical audio typist, and army major’s secretary.

Margaret loves to delve into the many pages of history, as she does research for her many historical novels. Many of her works are set during the first world war, given that her family has a proud tradition of service in the war like many Australians.

For Tanner, no work is too tattered or too old for her to read through, no website is too difficult to navigate and no museum is too dusty.

She has also said that she loved Westerns and particularly Western movies and TV shows such as “Bonanza.” Her hero during that time was Little Joe Cartwright while her favorite author at that time was Zane Grey, the Western author.

Still, many of Tanner’s novels get their inspiration from true events. In fact, one has been penned on the real-life triumphs and hardships of her ancestors, who were pioneers in the Australian frontier.

As for how she came to pen historical romance, Margaret Tanner has asserted that she had ancestors that came to Australia from Ireland, Scotland, and England.

The stories they told would play a significant role in shaping her perceptions of Australian history.

As for romance, she has asserted that she always loved happily ever after romance. Tanner got her start reading Mills & Boon romances before graduating to romances with more bite.

She developed a love for tortured heroes that put up a fight when facing up to love. They would eventually succumb to the beauty, grace, and wiles of the heroine. This would make for a perfect historical romance plot that has made her one of the most popular authors in the genre.

She began writing stories which were sad little ditties when she was but a child. She would then graduate to write short stories and during this time won several writing competitions.

When she got married and became a stay-at-home mother, she found herself with a lot of time on her hands. She decided to use that time to start writing novels and published “Forbidden Love,” her debut novel in 2007.

Over the years, Margaret Tanner fell in love with Western historical fiction which she still loves to write. It was thus easy for her to transition to writing about frontier America and frontier Australia.
Both of these settings have similarities such as an unforgiving and harsh environment, isolated communities, a lack of marriageable women, and a large single male populace.

She has made a reputation for herself writing drama-laden stories with heroes sporting a tough exterior. Her heroes are usually prepared to take on danger and incredible odds for the women they love.
She also writes her heroines as resourceful and brave women that are willing to endure the danger and hardship in the untamed West, in the quest to win the hearts of the men they love.

She is now a married woman with three adult children who have blessed her life with two gorgeous granddaughters. Outside of her friends and family, her biggest passion is writing which she does any chance she gets.

Given her reputation in historical fiction, she was invited to write a short story in the “American Mail Order Brides” series. Tanner has also contributed to several other well-known series over the years.

Margaret Tanner’s novel “Deborah” is a beautiful romance that brings two people together that could not have been any more different.

Shannon Hicks the bounty hunter goes undercover trying to find the lost money she believes is in Erin’s custody. By the time he comes to the realization that she is innocent, he is deeply in love with her.
But will Erin be so forgiving when she learns of his deception? Will the plight of Peter the orphan play any role in their lives going forward?

It is a beautifully written tale that is heartwarming and sweet even as it comes with romance, suspicions, hope, betrayal, deceit, and murder.

“Katrina” by Margaret Tanner asserts the truism that nothing is ever as it seems. Zane McClure the lead is a range detective whose only interest is to bring justice to a rabid outlaw.

On the other hand, Katrina is determined to find the man that killed her brother, and the only way to achieve their mission is to combine forces, even if it means they falsify an engagement.

Ultimately, they find themselves in a marriage of convenience that could just become a real marriage, even though the obstacles against their union are too many.

It is a heartwarming and sweet story full of romance, mystery, revenge, danger, and guilt.
