Maria Grace is a bestselling romance author who took the name Grace since her last name is unpronounceable. She did not want her readers to find it difficult spelling and remembering her name when trying to find her novels. She has said that she got into writing since she has a low threshold for boredom. Given that fact she has been in all manner of careers and is now on her third career. Most of Grace’s career moves have come through funny little side doors that she never realized she had entered until she was right in them. Among many other things she did, she worked for more than sixteen years as a college professor. She has also been engaged in many hobbies and had earned two martial arts black belts alongside her sons and also fenced when she was in college. She did the cake and flowers for her best friend’s wedding and sewed her own wedding dress. She has delivered instructional workshops to groups numbering more than 300 and organized banquets with more than 250 people.

The decision to become an author is not something Maria Grace decided but rather she walked into writing and then realized what was happening. Nonetheless, she had been making up stories and writing for as long as she can remember. Her biggest influence who would make her love storytelling was her third grade teacher. She had just moved to the new school and as the new kid in class, she wrote her first short story and poem that he then showed to her. The teacher encouraged her to keep at it and even helped her to format some of the shorts she had already written and she has never stopped since. While she was still in middle school, she penned two novels and a short story anthology that she gave to her friends who loved them. In high school, she wrote a six book series and a standalone novel to entertain her friends. She thinks her friends who read and encouraged her to write more would be significant for her later career. She still has all of those short stories and novels kept in a box somewhere in her office as theory reminds her that she is just going back to one of her first loves.

From very early on, Maria Grace was told that she would go up to become an engineer. As such, she went to college hoping to graduate as a chemical engineer. After one semester she was sick of her calculator and the course and changed her major much to the chagrin of her parents. She would then major in everything and within four years she had her degree in behavioral sciences, economics, managerial studies and sociology. After she did an interview with IBM, she decided that she was still not ready for the real world and decided to go back to college to undertake a graduate course. This time she took counselling and graduated with her master’s degree two years later. Grace got married and got into a doctoral program and three weeks before the birth of her son, she graduated with her PhD. True to herself, she took another course this time graduating with a degree in Education Psychology majoring in Human behaviour and growth. Oddly enough, she never took any English classes and only one course in history which would probably make one think the last thing she should be writing is historical fiction. But all the business, psychology, anthropology, economics and sociology has provided her with the material she needs to write her novels.
“Darcy’s Decision” by Naria Grace is set half a year after Fitzwilliam Darcy’s father passed on. The man still finds comfort visiting his parents graves every morning. He indulges his grief at the only place he can find it = the churchyard. No one acknowledges his insecurity and heartache except for the Master of Pembley who is also his mentor. Lady Catherine is not happy with his choice of mentor and believes that his mentor has too much influence on him. But Lord Matlock asks how one man can dare question the divine social order. However, Darcy finds a lot of compassionate wisdom from him and keeps going back for guidance even if it is starting to result in him having doubts in what he grew up learning. While struggling to reinvent himself Charles Bingley his best friend from school arrives. Darcy hopes that the arrival of someone he loves will provide a respite from all the chaos in his life. But rather than finding relief, he finds the darkest secret of his father staring back at him. He is being pushed to the limits and needs to confront issues that had destroyed his father and with his mentor and friends at his side, there is hope.

Maria Grace’s “The Future Mrs Darcy” opens to a regiment deciding to set camp in Meryton. The ladies of the small town love it but not everyone is so enthusiastic. One of these is Mr Carver who decides to move his family away from what he believes has become a savage society. Rather than blaming the militia, he thinks the Bennet family is responsible for the deterioration. The boisterous and flirtatious ways are too much for Carver and not even Jane’s renowned charm and beauty can make up for them. Elizabeth denies having had anything to do with the rot but soon discovers a shocking truth. It is not only the Carvers that have severed their relationship with the Bennets. The family now borders on social ruin and their reputation seems to have been damaged beyond repair. Mrs Bennet takes the news hard and collapses from shock and it is left to Elizabeth and her sisters to take over the management of their property until she is well again. But none of them has the competence to manage the estate and things only get worse when Mr Bennet has to travel for business leaving Lydia back at home with the officers a stone’s throw away.

Maria Grace’s “All the Appearance of Goodness” sees a young woman at a crossroads. She has to choose between a young gorgeous man with goodness and another who looks like he has it too. Separating the real thing from the fake is what is difficult. When Darcy joins Charles Bingley, his best friend and the two head to Meryton, they never thought that he would be meeting a marriage prospect. Elizabeth Bennet makes him more amenable to a relationship but then some rival appears as if from nowhere. To win the affections of Elizabeth, he will have to banish his naturally reticent demeanour if he is to have any hope of winning her affections. Elizabeth is thinking of marriage and love following the engagement of Mary, her sister. Within a few weeks, she has gone from not knowing any eligible young men to having the attention of two very eligible ones. They are both handsome men but one is hiding his affections while the other has secrets. She needs to determine what she is dealing with before she makes a life commitment.
