Marissa Clarke is a RITA nominated and multi-award winning romance writer for teens and adults.

When Marissa is not writing, she wrangles her rowdy pack of three teens, husband, Annabel the Cairn Terrier, who rules their house (and Marissa’s heart) with an iron paw.

She writes through writer’s block, feeling that it is better to write 5 pages and delete 4 of them, than to not write anything at all. Each page written makes her better, whether or not she uses any of it.

Her oldest daughter, who was 11 at the time, was lamenting the heroes in books that she had been reading. Just to placate her, Marissa told her she would write a book with just the sort of hero that she wanted. But to this day, Marissa has no clue why she said it. She was even sober at the time. But she never wanted to write a book. She reworked the novel so that it would work better as part of her “Underveil” series. The first novel she sold was “Shattered Souls”, from Penguin.

Her favorite part about being an author is that she gets to wear pajamas to work.

“Sleeping with the Boss” is the first novel in the “Anderson Brothers” series and was released in 2014. Bookish Claire Maddox has spent the last five years living for the dying. Now that her time as caretaker has ended, she is off to see the world. She needs some fast cash first, so working a temp job at Anderson Auctions appears to be perfect, particularly with some of the unexpected benefits, which includes the hottest guy that she has ever laid her eyes, or hands, on.

William Anderson, a former Marine, has been burned a time too many. His military training makes him the perfect man to flush out the spy that undercuts his family business, however no amount of training can possibly prepare him for the sort of undercover work that he will have to do once the sexy new temp gets implicated. Desire lands the two of them in bed, however duty might cost him his heart.

This is a fun, flirty, and a bit suspenseful read with a whole lot of sexiness in it. Marissa delivers the type of novel that you pick up and lose track of time as you’re reading. It’s got got banter between Will and Claire, and Will and his brothers that is top notch.

“Love Me to Death” is the first novel in the “Underveil” series and was released in 2014. Elena Arcos (a medical research scientist) has always lived a life under the radar. When she gets shot in a convenience store robbery, she finds herself being rocketed into supernatural insanity thanks to a sexy immortal law enforcer. He is convinced that she is some sort of freaky half-vampire thing and that her dead dad was the real deal: a blood sucking monster. Sure, whatever.

Nikolai Itzov never anticipated fighting the urge to kiss the offspring of his dad’s murderer. As a Slayer, which is an elite law enforcer descended from Azrael himself, his orders coming from the Underveil General are made crystal clear: kill her or he’ll die.

Elena and Nikolai find themselves in a life and death fight to thwart a plot designed to lift the Underveil and then enslave all humans. With her analytical mind and his centuries of training, they may be able to foil the plot with their lives and possibly their hearts intact. However in order to succeed, he has to help her become the very thing that he hates the most: an Undead.

“Dear Jane” is the first novel in the “Animal Attraction” series and was released in 2017. Jane Dixon is a dating disaster. Broken arms and flammable tablecloths are merely a typical evening for some of her unlucky companions. It’s no wonder that she never gets past a first date. However luckily her co-worker and new BFF says that he has got loads of friends that would date her more than just once. If she could only quit thinking about how much fun he was to hang out with. And she had never dropped a bucket of ice on his junk.

All that attorney Eric Blackwell must do to make junior partner is not screw up anything for six weeks, which may seem to be a slam dunk until he finds himself playing matchmaker to the office “One Date Wonder” aka the boss’ daughter. It is tough to stay focused while setting eyes on the hottest girl that he has ever met with everybody but himself. Maybe he should just set her up with all of the wrong guys, and keep his hands off this new friend of his. Yeah. His promotion is toast.

Marissa has an easy writing style, and her characters are likable. It does an excellent job of keeping readers entertained for a couple hours. Readers enjoyed reading about Jane and Eric coming together, as they made them smile, swoon, and they had great chemistry with each other.

“Accidentally Perfect” is the first novel in the “Hideaway Harbor” series and was released in 2022. Lillian Mahoney, a workaholic, has given everything to her job. The massively popular lifestyle show that she helped create monopolizes her energy, time, creativity, and anything remotely resembling a life. However all that it takes is the show’s egomaniac and womanizing star throwing a huge hissy fit on live TV to totally implode her career in a New York minute.

Now she is hiding out in the totally unknown and gorgeous seaside village of Blink, Maine. A stolen wallet. Outta gas. A busted heel. And even worse, she has somehow managed to totally piss off Caleb Wright, the town’s resident hunk. She will show that grumpy and hot single dad precisely what she is made of.

However Blink is not exactly what Lillian expects, and neither is Caleb, or his feisty teen daughter that she can’t help but love. And as her whole life and career are in ruins, she may just find out what happens when she gives her first bad impression another shot.
