Marissa Farrar is a bestselling horror, fantasy, and romance fiction author. She has a zoology degree and thereafter worked in pharmaceutical sales before becoming a full-time author.
She has said that love is something she has always been obsessed with. She got married to a New Zealander she met while attending a Christmas party as a twenty-one-year-old.
Since she has been married for years, she now conducts her love affairs with multiple fictitious gorgeous men. She published The Dark Road her debut novel in 2012 and has since then become a prolific author.
She has made a reputation writing novels that tend towards the dark side of romance. Nonetheless, she has also written novels in contemporary, reverse harem, paranormal, and mafia romance.
When she is not writing her novels, she can often be found spending time with family managing her huge menagerie of animals, and watching TV shows on Netflix. Farrar also loves to interact with her fans through the newsletter on her website.
Growing up, all Melissa Farrar wanted to be was a veterinary surgeon among many other things depending on her mood. For a time, she worked as an assistant to a veterinary surgeon for about five years.
Nonetheless, Melissa has always been a writer of stories ever since she was a kid. When she was just seven she talked about publishing a novel but it was not until she was done with her zoology degree that she decided to pursue a career as an author.
It took her half a dozen years before she took the dive into publishing, which she did in 2012.
Melissa Farrar’s debut manuscript was inspired by a dream she had about a ghost. But the manuscript was so bad that she just stuffed it into a drawer never again to see the light of day.
Once her debut novel was published and became a bestseller, she knew she had it in her to become an author.
While she has always considered herself a writer, it was when she got the first royal check that she knew she had made it.
Just like many authors, there are several authors that have had a huge influence on Melissa Farrar’s writing career. The author remembers growing up on a steady diet of Anne Rice, Stephen King James Herbert, and Dean Koontz.
Nowadays, she also reads a lot of women’s fiction and this combination of reads usually comes out in the works she produces.
Still, she has asserted that she has not been influenced by any one book, even though some of her favorite books include Khaled Hosseini’s “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” Ken Follett’s “Pillars of the Earth,” and Stephen King’s “The Stand.”
If she had to choose any writer as her biggest influence it would have to be Stephen King. She has spent most of her life idolizing King and reading everything he has ever written.
“Alone” by Marissa Farrar opens with Serenity Hathaway as miserable as she has ever been. She has been in a ten-year-long marriage, which has been nothing but a nightmare.
Every day, she is wondering what mood she will find her husband in but hopes it will be good so that she will not have hell. When she is fired, she is afraid of telling her husband as she fears the worst.
Fleeing into the streets, she meets a mysterious man and this chance meeting gives her the confidence to go home. But she still cannot tell her husband that she just lost her job.
Sebastian has been a vampire for more than two centuries. When he sees a beautiful woman running in town as if chased by hounds from hell, filled with fear and desperation, he cannot help but feel a connection.
He understands what she is going through and as the story progresses their feelings grow before everything takes a turn for the worse.
Marissa Farrar’s novel “Buried” is set four years after the events of the first novel. Serenity’s husband has been dead for a while and she no longer lives in terror as she once did, even though she misses Sebastian.
Sebastian and Serenity are now the parents of Elizabeth, a four-year-old girl. But the thing is Sebastian remains unaware of the child’s existence.
After he left Serenity behind, he had hidden in some caves in Turkey as he dealt with demons from a broken heart.
But then he hears that there is a new vampire in town that has been frequenting Serenity’s neighborhood that can walk in the sun with no problems. He heads to the US to go protect Serenity.
Once he arrives, he discovers that Los Angeles is no longer safe as it has been taken over by a brutal serial killer. It is also clear that the killer somehow has some connections with Serenity.
Soon enough, he learns that Jackson has in some way been reincarnated and is a huge danger to him and his loved ones.
“Captured” by Marissa Farrar is set two years after the events of the second novel of the series. Sebastian is almost giving up on getting back Serenity while she is nothing but a shadow of what she used to be.
Lucky for them, Elizabeth gets another vision that makes it possible to locate Serenity who stops Jackson’s evil plans. Serenity is currently suffering from amnesia and has no remembrance of the time she spent with Jackson.
While she is currently in a loving and safe environment, she has been getting worse. Sebastien has been feeling frustrated at not having Serenity back to her usual self.
The love between the two is intense and it is clear that they are determined to do whatever it takes for the sake of each other. The only problem they are facing is that Sebastian has struck a deal with the devil.
His deal with the devil ought to have marked a happy return home for him, Serenity, and Elizabeth their daughter. But it soon seems to be Serenity’s and Sebastian’s worst nightmare. It makes for a gripping and tense read.
