Reaching readers far and wide, he says exactly what it is that he wants to say, while also providing his audience with interesting and engaging stories. This formula of his has proven to be enormously successful, as he keeps his audience continually reading throughout each and every one of his books. It’s something that he’s become highly adept at, pushing the boundaries of the genre in new and extremely interesting directions. Building a high level of suspense and tension throughout, he makes sure to keep his readers glued to the page every single step of the way.

It’s also his characters that are a testament to his success, as he manages to bring them to life, each with their own distinctive personality. Many of his protagonists return for consecutive novels as well, along with his audience who make sure to return along with them. Coming alive on the page, he really gives his books a sense of heart and purpose, allowing them to essentially speak to the reader. With plenty more yet to follow still, he isn’t a writer that’s finishing up any time soon either, with a lot more set on the horizon.

Early and Personal Life

Born in the West Midlands of England in the Black Country, Adrian Attwood grew up with a keen and passionate interest in the written word. Nurturing his talent from a young age, he would develop it, harnessing his gift, as he would hone and refine it throughout his life. This interest of his would carry on, as he would come to establish his own style and tone as an author with something to say.

Working for a brewery as well as teaching English, he’s had a very varied career, providing him with a whole wealth of experience. Still working in those different capacities part-time, he writes full-time as well, all while continuing to look for his next big idea. Currently residing in Westmorland with Anne, his wife, he continues to write consistently and regularly with more still to follow.

Writing Career

The first novel that Adrian Attwood would write under his Mark Hayden pen-name was titled ‘A Piece of Blue Sky,’ coming out in 2014. This would also be the first in his ‘Operation Jigsaw Trilogy,’ paving the way for more still to follow in the future. Various other series that he’d write were the ‘Tom Morton’ series, along with the ‘King’s Watch’ urban fantasy series of novels.

Proving himself to be a hugely versatile writer, Attwood has also contributed to the ‘King’s Watch Story’ collection of books. This series has been written alongside other writers, including Lucy Campbell, making him a more than adept novelist. Maintaining a profile both offline and on, he continues to make a name for himself, being highly popular with readers from all over.

The Eleventh Hour

First coming out through the ‘Paw Press’ publishing imprint in 2018 on the 17th of August, this would be the third book in ‘The King’s Watch’ series. Continuing on from the previous novels, it’s another stand-alone mystery fantasy novel, all set in the same world as before with the same characters. Mixing the two genres together, it’s an engaging combination, really bringing its world to life, giving it a real sense of vibrancy.

Partners in fighting magickal crimes, Conrad and Vicky finally need a rest, but it seems that the universe has other plans for them both. When an innocent man is killed to cover up magickal misdeeds, they both find themselves trailing a Mage who uses dark magick to kill from a distance. Delving into the ancient families of the Lakeland Particular, they hope to unmask a killer who has revenge on their agenda. Can they hope to track them down before it’s too late, will they survive long enough to do so, and what will happen on the eleventh hour?

There’s a lot of imagination here, as the story really immerses the reader within its rich and varied world, keeping them guessing throughout. Ensuring readers are kept glued to the page, it’s a hugely entertaining novel, making it more than a must for fans of either fantasy or mystery. Its characters are also fully fleshed out with three-dimensional personalities, as they essentially come alive on the page.

In the Red Corner

Once again arriving through the ‘Paw Press’ outlet, this would be released on the 18th of June back in 2018 to much acclaim. Providing the third book in the ‘Tom Morton’ series of novels, it would carry on from where the previous two titles left off. It would also pave the way for the fourth to follow in 2015 titled ‘A Serpent in Paradise,’ which would continue the series.

Looking for the senior police officer who was originally pulling the strings around the murder DS Griffin, Patrick Lynch meets an unwelcome visitor in Earlsbury. Then there’s Conrad who’s taking charge of money laundering at the Fylde Racecourse, as he soon gets to communicate with Mina. Without DS Tom Morton there to help counsel he, Kate then discovers finally what really happened to Vinnie, as she pursues the trail. Will she find out the truth once and for all, can the murders and past be solved, and what really lies in the red corner?

It’s best that these books are read in order, as it has numerous ongoing arcs and developing narrative strands from the previous books. Building upon what came before, it’s a creative inclusion into the mystery crime and thriller series overall, making for an engaging story. There’s a lot of character development, really making it a must for fans of the series and of the author as a whole.
