About Mark Stone

An American author, Mark Stone is known for writing hugely entertaining thrillers, filling them with a sense of adventure and excitement. Transporting the reader, he sets many of them in and around the beaches of Florida, allowing them to get lost in his work. Constantly keeping them guessing as to what’s coming next, he ensures that they continually come back for more time and time again. A gifted writer, he knows exactly how to build a level of suspense and when to raise the tension, really building a sense of momentum.

Early and Personal Life

Growing up with a particular interest in writing, the future author to be Mark Stone was always immersed in literature. From an early age he would develop his love of reading and writing, refining and honing his craft as an author. Drawing a great deal of his inspiration from the world around him growing up, he would use the sunny beaches of Naples as the basis for much of his work.

Raised between South Carolina and Naples, he would have a southern upbringing, seeing his grandfather every summer. The Gulf Coast would become an area that would feature heavily in his writing from this, with many of his stories set around the beaches there. Currently living in South Carolina with his wife, he continues to write and hike, as he’s constantly searching for his next big idea.

Writing Career

Releasing his first novel back in 2017, Mark Stone would begin his literary career with the title ‘Lost in the Storm.’ This book would not only begin his career, but it would also begin the ‘Coastal Justice’ series of mystery thriller novels. Over time he would go on to write other series too, such as ‘Cross and Anchor,’ ‘Coastal Law,’ ‘Lucky John,’ ‘Jessie St. James,’ ‘Lifeguards of Shorewatch Bay,’ and ‘Lowcountry Crimes.’

All of this would set the scene for intertwining narratives and world-building, showing his imagination as an author. Many of the books themselves would be set in around South Carolina and Florida, as he would bring the areas to life on the page. Continuing to maintain his presence both online and off, Stone’s audience grows day by day, with readers from around the world constantly discovering his work.

After the Sunset

First coming out through the ‘Sunday Dinner Press’ publishing house, this would initially arrive on the 3rd of June in 2018. The sixth book in the ongoing ‘Coastal Justice’ series of novels, it would provide a series of stand-alone mysteries that could be read in any order. Following Detective Dillon Storm, it sees him on the Gulf Coast of Florida, solving mysteries in and around the city of Naples.

Taking place on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Detective Dillon Storm is facing his oncoming wedding, and he’s at peace with himself. The wife of Naples’ latest mayoral candidate comes to him for help, Dillon realizes there’s a lot at play after her son goes missing in an ambulance following an accident. Now on the trail of a conspiracy, as he uncovers the truth from the lies within Naples, Dillon knows that danger lurks just around the corner. Can he discover the truth in time, where did the ambulance disappear to, and how will everything fare after the sunset?

An intriguing mystery thriller, there’s a lot to enjoy here, as the series takes another fun turn, with plenty of surprises lying in wait. Really drawing readers in, it fully engages on every level, making for an extremely fun and entertaining thriller novel. Keeping the reader continually guessing throughout, it instantly grabs the reader from the outset and doesn’t let go.

Lucky Vengeance

Originally coming out in 2020 on the 19th of April, this would be the fourth book in the ongoing ‘Lucky John Adventures’ series of novels. Released through the ‘Sunday Dinner Press’ publishing imprint, this would provide another stand-alone mystery adventure, from a series that can be read in any order. Featuring the exploits of one former soldier John Lucky, the series sees him getting into a number of misadventures after the winning the lottery.

In this book ‘Lucky John’ is found to be drawn into a maze of secrets and lies, after a killer that he once put behind bars emerges once again. Known as ‘The Viper,’ he threatens one of Lucky John’s old girlfriends, as The Viper is released in a set of mysterious circumstances, throwing everything into chaos. Trailing The Viper down to Cancun’s sandy beaches, John is accompanied by Jessie St. James, as this one entanglement could be his last. Will they manage to bring The Viper to justice once again, can they find out where he’ll strike next, and what will become of his lucky vengeance?

This book really does provide an exciting, action-packed instalment, making for an engaging story on every level. Each of the characters really do come alive, regardless of whether or not it’s the first time readers have read this particular series. Simple to pick up, it’s an accessible and casual read, and is an exciting story that fully delivers for both fans of the series and of the genre as a whole.
