Mark Tufo is a renowned American writer of horror, young adult, science fiction, post-apocalyptic, and zombie fiction novels. He is best known as the creator and writer of the Zombie Fallout book series, featuring the lead character Mike Talbot. The other popular novel series penned by author Tufo include the Indian Hill series, Lycan Fallout series, The Book of Riley series, and A Shrouded World series. Tufo was born and brought up in Boston, Massachusetts, The United States. He studied at the UMASS Amherst college and earned a bachelor’s degree in arts. Following this graduation, Tufo joined the United States Marine Corp. During his career in the Marine Corp, Tufo was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms, California; Kaneohe Bay, Hawaiian Islands; and Parris Island, South Carolina.
Following the tour of duty in Kaneohe Bay, Tufo joined a multinational financial institution to work in its Human Resources department. He also joined college at Colorado Technical University to pursue his Master’s degree. Tufo has an interest in writing horror stories since his college days. The first book series that he attempted to write is the Indian Hill series. Initially, he intended to write the series in the form of a trilogy, but the success of the series enabled him to add several more titles in it. Tufo was still in college when he wrote the manuscript of the first Indian Hill novel. Tufo has said that he didn’t have the confidence to send the manuscript to an editor and get it published. It was due to the frequent insistence of his wife that Tufo took out the manuscript from garage storage in 2009 and sent it for publishing.
After the tremendous success of the Indian Hill stories, Tufo began writing the Zombie Fallout novels and achieved a much bigger success than his debut series. The other series and short stories also followed later in his career. Author Tufo generally writes his stories in the style of the first-person narrative. Also, his books are generally crossovers of several genres like science fiction, comedy, and horror. Tufo has given recurring references to the semi-autobiographical character named Michael Talbot in the novels. Besides this, he has added some interesting facts about the real-life history of the unique author in all his books. Author Tufo currently resides in Maine along with his beloved wife and 3 children. He has a great fondness for dogs and owns a couple of bulldogs in his house. Tufo is in talks with the Illuminandi Media for the film adaptation of his novel Zombie Fallout, which expected to go on the floor very soon. Also, a TV series based on the novel series is also expected to come out soon.
The Zombie Fallout series written by author Mark Tufo is comprised of 11 novels and 2 novellas released between 2010 and 2018. Every book of this series deals with the main theme of a zombie attack and shows the main characters trying to keep themselves alive. They are shown struggling for their survival and employing every possible means to keep the zombies at bay. Some of the essential characters mentioned in this series include Harry, Major Sanders, Michael Talbot, Tommy, Nicole, Travis, Justin, Eliza Mrs. Deneaux, Gary, etc. The debut book is entitled ‘Zombie Fallout’. It was released by the Createspace Independent publication in 2010. The book opens by showing that after the deadly H1N1 virus spreads across the country, people rush to get vaccines to prevent themselves from contracting the virus.
The government releases the vaccine in the market without thorough testing and inspection. This causes an outcome that no one had imagined. After a few days of taking the vaccination, people begin to have a high fever, collapse, die, and then rise again as zombies. These unexpected and undead species have a particular taste for blood, bodies, and brains of living humans. As more and more individual turn into zombies, they begin to feel a shortage of meals. So, the deadly zombies spread to different parts of the country in search of fresh human flesh. Michael Talbot, a self-proclaimed survivalist, gathers his family and close friends to strategize a way of dealing with the zombies. As the disaster keeps spreading, Michael hurries to ensure the safety and security of the ones he cares about.
The next installment of the series is known as ‘A Plague Upon Your Family’. It was published by the DevilDog Press in 2010. This novel’s story picks up from where the previous novel had ended. Michael Talbot evacuates his family during the zombie apocalypse. As the mindless, dominant, zombies search for the non-infected humans for food, mankind faces the danger of extinction. The story is narrated in the form of journal entries of accounts witnessed by Michael, his wife named Tracy and their children named Travis, Justin, and Nicole. They are joined by Nicole’s fiancee Brendon and a former Wal-Mart gatekeeper named Tommy. All of them remain together all the time and work as a team to overcome the dangers in their path to a safer location. While escaping, the Talbots face a far more dangerous evil than the relentless and ruthless zombies. The survivors face the lawless humans, who take matters in their own hands and loot the ones crossing their territory.
The stakes are much higher for Michael Talbot and company as it is not just the brain-eaters that they have to worry about this time. Michael tries everything in his capacity to take his family and friends to safety unscathed. He takes it upon himself to deal with all the dangers and difficulties in making sure his close ones remain safe and sound. The novel takes the readers to a roller-coaster ride as they turn page after page. They have cringy feelings by reading the horrific and dangerous events surrounding the struggle of the characters to survive the apocalypse. In addition to the horror elements, there are a lot of humor elements also that make the readers have a fair share of laugh throughout the plot. The sequences of action are very well written and have a perfect balance of description, character interaction, and tension. Tufo’s description of events in the story moves at a good pace, allowing the readers to enjoy each and every part. Overall, the book is quite an interesting one to read. Its worldwide success added to the overall success of the series.

Greeting Mr Turk, it’s an honor to have this opportunity to reach out and share my feelings about your work and how I look forward to and enjoy your books. I am an over the road truck driver and have listened to every one of them as a whole twice for some more so for others. I find Sean has a unique way of bringing the characters to life and I enjoy the banter between BT and Tallboat… I swear I’m in the market for a red Jeep and just you wait that will be the license lol… I hope you continue to honor us with your books and I hope to see more Talbot adventures out soon for Audible and thank you sir for such great work and imagination.
