Marsha Hubler is an American author of Christian, fiction and children’s books. With a master’s degree, she’s got over 35 year’s experiences dealing with students of all ages from conduct-disordered youth to foster children. She is also the bestselling author of the Keystone Stables series.
The author owned horses for over 15 years, and her story about ‘Skye and Champ’ in Keystone Stables series is about her life experiences with children and horses.

A Horse to Love

A Horse to Love is the debut book in Keystone Stables series. The story is of a girl named Skye Nicholson, who is very troubled and has gained a negative attitude about life. She has lived in many foster homes, and when she is thirteen years, she is given a chance by the judge to choose either to go to another foster home in Keystone stables or a juvenile center. She has committed many offenses; that’s why juvenile detention will suite as her last resort.
She moves from one foster home to another after the court settlement; she finds hope when Skye is sent to a keystone stable where she is received with love and introduced to a God who can save her.

The family living in the ranch introduces her to horses and attempt working some miracles using the horse champion for Skye to be a good lady. God is calling her through this family, but it’s upon her to decide whether she will give in to the calling.

While living in the Keystone stables owned by Mr. and Mrs. Chambers, she undergoes through tough love and strict but god rules and later learns to come out of her problems although she faces some hardships. She then gets saved and becomes a strong Christian, and she lives in a new her home happily.

The story narrates mostly about Christianity showing how one can find love and happiness after accepting Christ as their savior. The story is well paced, describing primarily about horses. The story shows how sometimes people feel neglected at some point in life and how we sometimes put the blame on others because of our problems. The problems can lead one to hurt herself or those around her.

The story shows how deals with her problems and overcomes through Morgan’s and Chambers assistance. As human beings, we need someone to help us when in stressful situations, but we also admire to be that person.

The author makes a lot of horse references and how to ride and care for them. If you are interested in understanding the anatomy of the horse, then this book will be a good one for you.

The story gives the right message making it inspiring and heartwarming to the readers. The author skillfully shows Skye’s defiance and also her emotional disturbance. She shows how some of her actions are odd but still manages to make her a likable and interesting character.

A True Test for Skye

A True Test for Skye is the second book in Keystone series about a foster girl who has finally accepted Christ. Skye’s friend, Sooze Bodner comes to her and requests for accommodation after she is diagnosed with brain cancer. She has been living with her mother, who is tired of her bad behavior and now has given her the freedom to do all she wants.

Sooze is now having a destination similar to that of Skye, juvenile detention. She is under the care of Tom and Eileen, who are still caring for Skye. They find Sooze’s case more complicated though Skye encourages her by telling her that it is not that bad. Later, she plots to escape since she thinks that no one has the right to control her, and she is not willing to abide by the rules set by Tom and Eileen. Unfortunately, Skye is caught in Sooze’s plan of escaping, and the consequences make them understand the meaning of believing in God and learn to trust in Him even though they don’t know about the future.

The author uses examples which can be emulated in real life and show the importance of making the right decisions about the gospel. Skye has already found love in Champ, a quarter horse which helped her win a ribbon during a horse race and has contributed a lot in her growth. Sooze is in trouble and attempts influencing Skye to backslide to her old behavior.

Nannette’s Needle and Thread

Nannette’s Needle and Thread is the debut novel in the Snyder County Quilting Bee. The story is of a Mennonite girl named Nanette Peachey who is working with some ladies at the county Quilting Bee. They sew and give out the clothes to people with newborn Babies, newlywed couples, missionaries and also the needy.
Nanette happens to be a tomboy and prefers riding horses or playing ball during the church outings instead of going to the ladies bee on Thursdays. Later, she decides to resign the job with the help Brandon Specht, a horse breeder and also her fiancé. She then promises to sew the outfits during her free time.
When her beautiful cotton fabric bound with gold that she had completed sewing is stolen, making her start again, leaving her puzzled. She regrets the time she had spent doing all that work only to end up in vain.

After a while, Nanette gets a big surprise from her mother and the sewing ladies at quilting Bee. The throw a bridal shower for her as she a bride-to-be now that’s she and Brandon are getting married.

During the bridal shower, her mother gifts her with gorgeous clothing with an ornament bound with a stallion frame of horseshoes. What surprised her most about the gift is the highlights of the sewing masterpiece, which appears to resemble her missing gold piece. She wonders how the part reached her mother’s hands.

Later Nanette finds out that Brandon, her husband to be, planned with her mother behind her back to hide the gold piece so that she can surprise her with it during the occasion. Despite that, she is pleased about the surprise and thanks to her mother for the quilt, which was a treasure for her and planning a special day for her.
