Marta Acosta is a renowned American writer and novelist of urban fantasy, chick-lit, and young adult books. She is particularly famous for writing the Casa Dracula book series. Additionally, Marta has written several mind-blowing standalone books, including The She-Hulk Diaries, Girls Are Gone, Dark Companion, and Fancy That. She has also penned a nonfiction book in her career, called Make It Catchy. Recently, Marta started a new series called Coyote Run and published its first book, The Dog Thief, in 2018. In addition to writing under the original name, she uses the pseudonym Grace Coopersmith for writing some of her novels.

Over the course of her writing career, Marta has written as a freelance writer for Contra Costa Times and San Francisco Chronicle. She has studied at Standford University. During the early phase of her career, Marta faced some difficulty in trying to get her work published. The publishers demanded that she write more of her stories in the magical realism, which was made popular by Isabelle Allende. And when her work was compared to the Latina or Latino writers, she said that the Latino writers came from an altogether different background. Whatever they will write will automatically get compared to the likes of Gabriel Marquez. However, the critics do not compare the works of all Irish-American writers to that of James Joyce’s. In 2006, Marta’s debut book was chosen as one of the top 5 books by Latina Writers of that year by the Catalina magazine. The book received this recognition mainly because of its writing and character descriptions.

In 2010, Marta shifted her focus towards writing young adult stories and subsequently published the book, The Shadow Girls of Birch Groce. She released it online for free on Scribd. Previously, the author and her literary agent had submitted the book to many publishers, but none of them had shown any interest in publishing it. Following its publication online, the book achieved the feat of being the top-ranked young adult book on Scribd and this success helped her to receive a contract from Tor Books. Author Marta was born in San Francisco. She claims that she fell in love with books from the time she started reading. Similarly, writing became an interest for her when she learned to hold a pencil in her hand.

When she grew up a little, Marta began roaming around in public libraries and reading books that she liked. This habit helped her to become a feral reader. As of today, Marta resides in the Bay Area of San Francisco. She is happily married and has a son. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in the subjects of English Literature & Creative Writing. During her free time, Marta loves to indulge in gardening, watching films, listening to loud music, indulging in lively conversations, and reading funny novels. She loves to hear from her fans and interacts with them through her social media accounts or her official website. Marta considers her husband to be a fabulous spouse. He supports her in all her endeavors and provides important critique to each of her new books.

Marta enjoys the company of her family and her lovely dog. Though she has received many awards for her work, Marta says that she gets the real thrill whenever she receives an email from a fan. She is always eager to know what people think about her writing and how do they rate her work. Marta is represented by a literary agent named Julie Castiglia at the Castiglia Literary Agency. She is quite satisfied with the way her career has shaped over the years and is hopeful of making it much more successful. Marta is grateful for all the lovely reviews of her books by various critics and fellow writers. She intends to write many more books in the years to come and publish them for her fans to read and enjoy. In doing so, she also intends to increase her fan-base by a considerable amount. Marta enjoys being rated as one of the prominent authors of this time and she wishes to keep up with this reputation of many more years to come.

The Casa Dracula series written by author Marta Acosta is comprised of 4 books released between 2006 and 2010. It features the main characters in the roles of Milagro de Los Santos, Oswald Grant, Ian Ducharme, Cornelia Ducharme, and several others. Marta has set the series in California and has described a paranormal romance and vampire fiction set up in the books. An excellent book of the series is entitled ‘Midnight Brunch’. It was released by Gallery Books in 2007. The book begins by showing that Milagro de Los Santos is a funny girl, who thinks that she has finally found true love. She also thinks that she has found herself a home in the California-based ranch owned by Oswald Grant along with his relatives. It is known about Oswald’s family members that they suffer from a genetic disorder and people think that it turns them into vampires at night.

When Milagro is excluded from a mysterious and ancient midnight ceremony, she becomes bewildered. This ceremony is attended by the unfriendly parents of Oswald Grant, his family elders, and the former lover of Milagro, Ian Ducharme. Later, she discovers some skeletons in designer closets and wonders by the Grants have kept them there. And when Milagro receives a threat from a rogue member of Oswald’s family, she runs away and hides in the desert.

Another exciting installment of this paranormal romance series is called ‘The Bride of Casa Dracula’. It was also released by Gallery Books in 2008. Initially, it is depicted that Milagro de Los Santos goes through some serious problems when she plans her wedding with Oswald Grant. She is loathed by Oswald’s relative. To add to her problems, she loses her dog and there is also the problem of her future in-laws turning into blood-thirsty vampires at night. Milagro asks one of her close friends to pose as a wedding coordinator to find out what the Grant family is up to. Cornelia Ducharme is appointed by the Vampire Council to help the couple complete the ancient rituals of vampire marriage. Milagro also worries about her career as a writer as she doesn’t have any work and is left to ghostwrite. Later, several unforeseen incidents interfere with the marriage and leave Oswald wondering if Milagro is paranoid or hiding something from him.
