Martha Carr is a reputed American novelist of suspense, thriller, and fantasy stories. She is particularly popular for writing the Leira Chronicles series, I Fear No Evil series, Wallis Jones series, Peabrain Adventures series, and the Rewriting Justice series. Besides writing novels, Carr is also famous for writing weekly columns on life and world affairs. Her work has featured in various publications like The NY Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Newsweek, etc. Carr considers herself a big fan of DC comics. In her childhood, she used to spend her summers on the shores of New Jersey. Ever since Carr developed a weird interest in living in different parts of the United States. As a writer, Carr always tries to create inspirational stories with ordinary heroes that make the readers feel inspired.

Author Carr loves to read stories that make her wonder about different things and leave her feeling inspired. Many of the stories created by her involve twisting & turning thrillers whereas the others have magic. Carr credits her expertise in developing exciting stories to the day she walked into a library in Philadephia and found out that she can borrow books, take them home to read, return them, and get some more. From that day onwards, Carr was hooked on developing good stories. A constant theme throughout Carr’s life has been her love affair with books. She was able to get her first work reviewed at the age of nine. Carr’s first interaction with horror story was when her father mistakenly dropped her off and her two siblings to a theater without checking which was listed. Although her siblings were quite frightened and repeatedly insisted on leaving, Carr enjoyed her stay and found her new liking for horror stories.

When her schoolteacher asked her to describe a Halloween story, Carr described the movie that she had seen in the theater. Though she had written it to the best of her knowledge and with a twist, her father was called by the principal to explain. Carr began her career by writing nationally-columns based on politics on a weekly basis for the Washington Post. A few years later, she thought of exploring the nerdy kid inside her and began writing about Wizards, magic, and Elves. This led to the development of her first series called the Leira Chronicles. This series contains a high dose of magic, some thriller, a few loyal friends, and a dedicated detective who goes by the name Leira Berens.

Carr says that when she sits down to create a magical universe, she lays great emphasis on the names of characters. She also tends to provide a factor of magic and a certain consistency, but without making the story too complex. In her own words, Carr describes her books as character-driven, full of wonder, fast-paced, thrilling, magical, fun-filled, and funny. On one occasion, Carr lived in several orphanages for 2 years while researching for a book. This effort encouraged her to do more for the orphans and provide as much help to them as she can. Carr’s advice to the aspiring authors is to keep thinking of new ideas and writing as much as possible. One thing that author Carr is good at other than writing and very few people are aware of is tap dancing. She has even taught tap dancing in Alexandria for some time.

A widely popular series penned by author Martha Carr is known as the Wallis Jones series. It is comprised of 6 novels and 2 novellas in total, released between 2016 and 2017. Each of the books of this series features Wallis Jones as the lead character. She is depicted as a lawyer based in Richmond, Virginia. Other essential characters created by Carr for this series include George Clemency, Fred Bowers, Maureen Bowers, Dave Robbins, etc. Carr has set the stories in Washington, DC and Richmond, Virginia. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘The List Conspiracy’. It was released by the MRC Publishing in 2016. Initially, Wallis Jones is introduced as a happy mother, wife, and lawyer living in Richmond. When her life falls into a web of secrets and conspiracies, she decides to put up a fight for the safety of her family.

Wallis senses that something strange is going on in her life when she suspects that a shadow organization is stalking her friends and clients. Later, she comes across a stranger in her driveway and learns that an enlistment strategy has been set in motion under the name of Butterfly Project. The stranger also provides her a list of all the people involved in the secret project. Wallis Jones realizes that she must act fast and uncover the real meaning behind the list’s names. She keeps her hopes high in exposing the real powers and uncovering the truth before more people lose their lives. This novel is full of clandestine settings, action-packed adventures, and numerous twists & turns.

Another adventurous book written in this series is called ‘The Traitor’s Revenge’. It was also published in 2016 by MRC Publishing. Carr has again described Wallis Jones at the center of the plot. Initially, it is mentioned that secret agents enter Wallis Jones’s normal life in the suburbs and use the secrets of her family to force her to join the secret, new, and dangerous political world and keep her under control. Wallis struggles to keep up with the new challenges thrown at her and fights to understand the reasons behind the parts that she is made to play. And when she learns that a wrong step could cost her friends their lives, she tries to maintain a sort of normalcy in her life and keep her near & dear ones away from the secret conspiracy. As Wallis is dragged into the new world against her will, she does not intend to be part of this world for long. But, for the sake of her family’s safety, she follows what her commanders order her. The only way she can find answers is by knowing everything about the Butterfly Project and Wallis is determined to do whatever it takes to take back the control of her life. This book is a perfect read for the fans of Frederick Forsyth, Clive Cussler, John Gardner, or Nelson DeMille.
