Mary Davis
Mary Davis was born and raised in Washington State. She obtained her college degree in elementary education and has taken an advanced course from the Institute of Children’s Literature.

Mary leads two critique groups, one is an online critique group and one in the local Colorado area.

Mary regularly attends the ACFW conference and her local writing chapter in the Springs, and she’s spearheaded a writing contest for youth for several years.

Mary finds that a contract with a looming deadline is a very strong inspiration to write. When she doesn’t have a contract, a new idea will inspire her. Things that she learns as she’s researching can spark a story or character, and she imagines what the story would be. Things people say, dreams, and the dude crossing the street as she’s waiting at a red light. Who is he and where’s he going? Inspiration is everywhere.

“The Captain’s Heart” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2008. Vivian’s the only one that knows the truth. Vivian is the new wife of respected Captain Randolph Carlyle, however when Randolph dies while at sea, only she lives with the truth. Nobody else knows that his final words to her were this angry indictment of her secret past life. Not his servants, not his brother, and definitely not Conner Jackson, his best friend.

As Vivian calmly accepts the news that her husband’s will hadn’t been updated to include her, those that care about her are rather puzzled by her reaction. She is convinced that she’s received God’s forgiveness for her past behavior, however just when she and Conner are drawn to one another, she fears that, just like her late husband, Conner’s going to reject her if he ever discovers her past. Is her secret going to stay safe, or is its existence going to threaten the love that she seeks?

“Reckless Rogue” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2008. Lizzie Carter isn’t an ordinary doll. Lieutenant Pet Garfield loves flirting with the ladies, “dolls” as he calls them, in each town where he lands his Curtiss JN-4D biplane. There are always plenty in the crowds that gather to gape at his amazing aeroplane and pay him to take a ride. However one special girl in Cashmere, Washington captures his interest with her extraordinary knowledge of aeroplanes and her insistence on flying his. Nobody but Pete flies this Jenny, however he sure does not mind giving pretty Lizzie a few free rides.

Lizzie Carter has always dreamed about flying, however she isn’t going to be satisfied until she pilots an aeroplane herself. She sees Pete’s arrival in Cashmere as the perfect chance to make her dreams finally come true. However she did not expect this carefree aviator to capture her heart. Is Pete going to settle down in one town long enough to fall in love with one special girl? Or is the past that he has been fleeing going to finally catch up with him?

“Courting Her Amish Heart” is the first novel in the “Prodigal Daughters” series and was released in 2018. An Amish wife or a doctor? She can choose just to be one or the other.

Kathleen Yoder returns back home after fourteen years in the Englisher world. Practicing medicine means sacrifice, since no Amish man will want a doctor as his wife. Widowed Noah Lambright offers a cottage for her new clinic, seeing just how much her skills can help out their community.

However while their friendship continues to deepen, could family and love become more than just a forbidden dream for her?

“The Widow’s Plight” is the first novel in the “Quilting Circle” series and was released in 2018. Washington State 1893. When Lily Lexington Bremmer arrives in Kamola with her young son, she is reluctant to join the quilting circle, the social center of her new community, however these friendly ladies pull her right in. she starts piecing a shadows and sunshine quilt since it mirrors her own life. She’s got a secret which lurks deep in the shadows and hopes that it does not come out into the light. Dark places in her past are much better forgotten, however this new life of hers is filled with sunshine. Are her secrets going to cast shadows on her bright future?

Edric Hammond, a widower, and his dad are doing their best to raise his two young daughters. He meets Lily and her son once they’ve shown up in town and even helps her get a job and a place to live. Lily resists his charms at first, however finds she is falling in love with this gentle and kind man and his two darling daughters. She has stolen his heart with her first warm smile, however he is cautious about bringing another woman into his daughters’ lives because of the harshness of their own mom.

Can Edric forgive Lily her past to take hold of a rather promising opportunity at love?

“The Daughter’s Predicament” is the second novel in the “Quilting Circle” series and was released in 2019. Can a patient love win her heart?

While Isabelle Atwood’s romance prospects begin turning in her favor, this family scandal derails all of her dreams. As she is making a quilt for her own hope chest, her half-sister gets pregnant out of wedlock and Isabelle, who is always the unfavored daughter, becomes the family sacrifice to save face. Despite gaining the attention of a handsome rancher, her parents are pressuring her to marry a guy of their choosing in order to rescue their daughter’s reputation. A third suitor is waiting silently in the wings, hoping for a shot of his own at love, and Isabelle winds up with three marriage offers, however this just further confuses her decision.

A stranger, a handsome rancher, and one unseen suitor each are waiting for an answer, Isabelle does love her sister, however is she really going to allow herself to be manipulated into a marriage without love? Is Isabelle going to capitulate and marry the guy that her parents wish she would, or is she going to rebel and marry the one they don’t approve of? Or is the man that is leaving her secret love poems going to sweep her right off of her feet?
