An interesting and engaging writer, the American author Matt James also goes under the name of Matthew James, which is what he’s more commonly known as. Writing a large number of suspense fuelled thrillers and action adventures, he’s a gifted writer when it comes to keeping readers on the edges of their seats. Knowing his audience well, he’s built a literary brand that’s quite unlike any other, really pushing the genre to the limits of what it can do. Getting to the center of what he wants to write about, he really allows his stories to come alive, creating something quite different in the process.
There’s plenty of action throughout, as he really manages to take it all up a level, raising the adrenaline of the reader in the process. A bestselling writer as well, he’s achieved a huge amount of critical and commercial success, really setting himself apart in the process. This success has seen him become one of the key writers currently working within his field today, as he’s become a household name for many. With readers continually returning to his work time and time again, he’s really managed to become a writer who will be appreciated for years to come.
His characters are extremely well thought out too, each with their own arcs that set themselves apart, sticking in the minds of the readers. The narratives are also well plotted, creating a real sense of momentum, allowing the reader to follow along at an easy pace. There’s an expert sense of world-building as well, really bringing each of the locations to life, allowing them to fully flourish on the page. With a lot more to come still, he definitely isn’t finishing any time soon either, as his writing career continues growing from strength-to-strength.
Early and Personal Life
Growing up with a keen interest in all things literature, the future author to be Matt James would constantly immerse himself in reading and writing. This passion of his would develop throughout the years, allowing him to make a name for himself quite unlike any other. Hugely invested in adventure stories, he’d constantly be on the lookout for his next big idea, often using his own experiences to help inspire him.
Inspired greatly by Indiana Jones films, he’d create his own series of books in much the same vein, whilst also delivering his own unique perspective. Maintaining a presence both online and off, he writes regularly, finding a growing number of readers from all around the world. Currently living in South Florida with his family not far from the beach, he continues to write on a regular and consistent basis.
Writing Career
The first book that Matt James would publish was titled ‘Blood and Sand,’ with it being released back in 2015. It would also introduce the character of Hank Boyd for the first time too, as it would become a series going by the name of the lead protagonist. Other series that James would publish were titled ‘Logan Reed Thrillers,’ ‘Dead Moon,’ ‘Hank Boyd Origins,’ and ‘Willy Flores Short Stories’ to name just a few.
Many of the books of Matthew James were action thrillers with a serialized component to them running throughout. The books could also be read on their own too, as they were easy to pick up at any one point, making them fun action packed casual titles. Gaining critical and commercial success, he also writes with other authors, including David Wood the USA Today bestselling novelist, as more is expected to follow.
Babel Found
Originally coming out in 2016 on the 11th of July, this would initially arrive on the Kindle platform to an already eager audience. Marking the third title in the ongoing ‘Hank Boyd’ series of books, this would continue on from where the others left off with another self contained adventure. Developing both the world as well as the characters, it manages to recapture the style and tone of the previous two novels, whilst doing something different in the process.
Action adventuring Hank Boyd the ever intrepid archaeologist is almost ready to retire, and that’s when his team are suddenly attacked. With a murdering group of attackers on the warpath, they’re up against an enemy that really don’t care who gets in their way. Discovering the truth of the Tower of Babel, learning that it does in fact exist, they set forth to prevent an ancient evil there from falling into the wrong hands. Will they manage to save the day together as one, can they overcome the obstacles in their way, and what will happen with Babel found?
A fun and engaging archaeology thriller, there’s a lot here to really pull the reader in with its fast paced exciting story. Propelling the narrative forwards, it manages to instantly grab the reader from the very outset, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the world. The character of Hank Boyd is also extremely well drawn too, along with the supporting cast, playing off of him very well.
The Dorado Deception
This book would first be released in 2021 on the 28th of April, as it would set-up the third book in the ongoing ‘Jack Reilly’ series. Continuing on from the previous books, it provides a further self-contained adventure, whilst also progressing the arcs of the different characters. Bringing the world to life once more, it would also be published through the Kindle platform as with James’ many other books.
Buried deep beneath the South American jungle lies a discovery set to change the face of history forever, as Jack Reilly travels to Colombia. Previously serving on the Delta Force, Jack Reilly now uncovers mysteries, this time working for the Tactical Archaeological Command. Just before being abducted, Matias left a message claiming ‘El Dorado exists’ and now it’s up to Jack Reilly to uncover what’s really going on. Will he be able to discover the secret behind it all, can he learn the truth, and what will become of the Dorado deception?
Providing another solid adventure story, this has everything a fan of the action thriller genre would want from such a novel. Moving the story along with confidence, he really elevates the story and characters, allowing them to come alive on the page. It also paves the way for more, giving the world room to continue expanding indefinitely, along with that of its eponymous protagonist.
