There’s plenty of action and excitement in his stories, but he’s also able to keep them grounded and real, resonating on a deeper level. This has led to him becoming one of the most popular authors currently working within his field to date, with many clear recurring themes and ideas. Speaking directly to his audience, he never talks down to them at any one point, really making sure his work is kept honest and genuine.

There’s also a lot of strong characters throughout his work as well, with many of them also well grounded in their own distinct way. Whether it’s a zombie apocalypse or space pirates, he always makes sure to keep his protagonist real on some level. Vibrant and colorful, his stories always have something to say, allowing him to speak to them articulately, with a core to each of his narratives. With plenty more titles to come, he’s definitely not stopping any time soon either, as he’s a writer to continue watching in the years to come.

Early and Personal Life
Born in 1983 on the 8th of September, Max Brallier was born and raised in Belmont, Massachusetts, growing up with a passion for storytelling. Moving the Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania at the age of four with his family, he would then also later move to Reading in Massachusetts during the third grade. During 1991 he would Joshua Eaton Elementary School, before going on to Parker Middle School, and it was here that he based his ‘Last Kids on Earth’ series on.
Later he graduate from Reading Memorial High School in 2001, before going on to study at Ithaca College, whereby he would gain a degree in film in 2005. Constantly reading from a young age, he’d draw from a range of inspirations, all of which would go back into his own work. Currently living in New York with his wife Alyse, and their daughter Lila, he continues to write to this present day.

Writing Career
The first book that Max Brallier would write was a non-fiction adult humor book titled ‘Reasons to Smoke,’ which was later followed up by ‘Reasons to Drink.’ With a sense-of-humor to them all, Brallier would then go on to create a number of popular series for younger readers, infusing elements of fantasy and science-fiction into them. Included here were the series ‘Last Kids on Earth,’ ‘Can You Survive the Zombie Apocalypse,’ and ‘Galactic Hot Dogs’ to name just a few.

Going on to write for a number of television series too, Brallier has made a name for himself in the world of children’s animation, with shows such as ‘Adventure Time’ and ‘Steven Universe.’ Writing for video-games too, he’s worked with the online role-playing game ‘Poptropica’ too. Winning awards, including an Emmy, he is not without critical acclaim either, as his writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Revenge of the Space Pirates
Originally released through the Aladdin publishing label, this first came out on the 24th of October back in 2017. With Rachel Maguire and Nichole Kelley illustrating it, the book is the third in the ‘Galactic Hot Dogs’ series of books. Continuing on from the last two, the story is a self-contained narrative, filled with action and excitement throughout.

This is ideal for young readers, with its bright and colorful images lifting off the page, giving it a real impact on the reader. It has a lot of humor and heart, with its easy to follow and imaginative story that keeps its audience hooked with every page turn.

Cosmoe is an Earth boy with the best flying food truck in the entire galaxy, as he embarks on intergalactic travels with his friend Big Humphree. This time round they’re both captured by a space pirate who has a link to Cosmoe’s past in the early days of his hot-dog selling. Humphree’s past also comes to light, as the two of them begin to realize the true danger that they’re currently in. Will they be able to escape alive? Can they discover the truth of it all? What has caused the revenge of the space pirates?

The Skeleton Road
Initially brought out through the ‘Viking Books for Young Readers’ publishing outlet, this would be the sixth book in the ‘Last Kids on Earth’ series. Released on the 15th of September in 2020, it would carry on from the previous books with another action packed adventure. There would also be plenty of twists and turns of its own, and more than enough surprises to keep it fresh and unique.

Made into a popular Netflix television series of the same name, it’s easy to see why the ‘Last Kids on Earth’ books are so popular. Ideal for younger readers, they’re packed with both action and humor, and this entry is no exception to that. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the series has a lot of fun and imaginative concepts throughout, making it a must for any young fans of the science-fiction fantasy genre.
With the rest of the gang in tow, Jack Sullivan has the Midnight Blade in his hunt for the evil Thrull, along with his villainous skeleton army. Seeking to build the Tower, which is a portal all set to transport Rezzoch the Ancient into this dimension, as he’s the Destructor of Worlds, the enemy plan their evil move. Now Jack and friends must head out on a road trip, taking in the sights and sounds of their fun and excitement filled epic journey. Will they be able to reach their final destination and defeat the enemy before it’s too late? Can they make their way across the post-apocalyptic wasteland? What will they find on the skeleton road?
