Mazey Eddings
Mazey Eddings is a neurodiverse dentist, author, and (most importantly of all) a stage mom to Zadie and Yaya, her cats. She has roots in North Carolina and Ohio, but calls Philadelphia her home.

She can most often be found reading romance novels under her weighted blanket and asking her boyfriend to bring snacks to her. Mazey has made it her personal mission in life to destigmatize mental health issues and write love stories for every type of brain.

“A Brush With Love” is the first novel in the “A Brush With Love” series and was released in 2022. Harper anxiously waits for placement into a top oral surgery residency program as she crashes (literally) into a guy named Dan. Harper would rather endure a Novocaine-free root canal than face any and all distractions, even one as adorable as him.

Dan, who is a first year dental student with a family legacy he must contend with, so he doesn’t have that same passion for pulling teeth Harper does. Even though he finds himself falling for her, he’s willing to play by Harper’s rules.

So with the greatest of intentions and poorest of follow throughs, these two set out to be “just friends”. However while getting to know one another better, Harper fears that trading fillings for feelings might make her lose her control and cannot risk her carefully ordered life coming undone, no matter how drool-worthy Dan might be.

Gore, blood, and extra long roots? No problem. But the idea of falling in love? Absolute torture.

Fans of the book found the romance in “A Brush With Love” to be so adorable and sweet. They loved Dan and Harper and all of the kisses they have in the snow, but readers particularly connected to Mazey’s portrayal of anxiety disorder. These lovely, vivid, broken, and fragile yet still tough souls are sure to earn your whole love. It felt personal, authentic, and deeply vulnerable, and it is what makes the book shine, as it makes things feel so very real.

“Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake” is the second novel in the “A Brush With Love” series and was released in 2022. Lizzie Blake has made countless mistakes. Pyramid schemes, kitchen fires, bangs (of both the human and hair variety). You name it, and she has done it. Made a mess of it, too. A mistake that she has never made is allowing anybody to get closer to her than just a single hook-up. However after losing yet one more bakery job because of her uncontrolled ADHD, she breaks her one cardinal rule and has a two-night-stand which changes everything.

Rake, once burned and twice shy, has all but given up on relationships. And feelings. Along with any form of intimacy for that matter. But something about the chaotic and charming Lizzie sees him letting his guard down. For two nights, anyway. Then it is heading on back home to Australia and far away from the pesky feelings that Lizzie draws out of him. However when Lizzie tells him that she has got this unexpected bun in the oven, he will do whatever it takes to be a part of the kid’s life. Except ever be emotionally vulnerable, of course. He is never making that mistake ever again.

Through this series of mishaps, totally “platonic” single bed sharing, and this underground erotic baking scheme, Rake and Lizzie discover that even the largest mistakes can have some of the most beautiful consequences.

You feel as though are there and living with these characters while reading this story. The turns and twists keep you intrigued so you have to keep reading to learn what will happen next. Rake and Lizzie are interesting and complex characters, and Lizzie’s own experiences with ADHD add in an extra layer to this novel which is highly fascinating. Readers adored Lizzie and found they wanted to protect her from anybody wishing her harm. Mazey delivers a steamy, horny, feel good time that is all about being your true authentic self, learning to accept love, accept yourself and that you are just enough.

“The Plus One” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2023. What begins as a fake wedding turns into something that these childhood enemies never could have expected. Some facts are indisputable. Gravity exists. The sun rises in the east, and sets in the west. Indira does not like Jude, nor does Jude like Indira. However what happens when these two childhood foes find that the one thing they can rely on is one another.

Indira has everything together, at least on paper. A boyfriend, an amazing job, and a car. What more could this late twenty-something ask for? However she walks in on her boyfriend in an amorous embrace with some stranger, that perfect on paper image is ruined.

Jude’s got nothing together. He’s a doctor that has spent the previous three years traveling around the world to treat humanitarian crises and emergencies. So a quick trip back home to attend his best friend’s wedding has got him struggling to readjust.

Thrown into an elaborate (not to mention ridiculously drawn out) wedding event which is stressing Jude beyond all belief. It also has Indira seeing her ex and his new girlfriend much more frequently than any human should really endure, and the duo strike a bargain to be one another’s fake dates to this wedding from hell. The one issue is, their forced proximity and their fake displays of affection are beginning to feel just a bit, well, real, and they’re both left wrestling with the idea that such a situation couldn’t be made worse, is made just a little better while the other one is around.

Mazey Eddings has created a heart achingly sweet childhood nemesis to friends to lovers romance without a third act breakup because supporting partners through their pain is better than allowing them to suffer through internal struggles all alone. It is a romantic and smart whirlwind of a story, that is difficult to put down for very long. Readers found themselves crying multiple times as they read it.
