An American novelist of contemporary romance novels, Allison Leigh is an author who has been writing for some time now. Building a vast number of titles and series, her readership ranges from all across the globe, as her themes are universal in their nature. Getting to the heart of human nature and how people interact with each other, her audience can easily relate to her many warm and friendly characters. A series that perfectly exemplifies this is that of the ongoing and highly popular ‘Men of the Double-C Ranch’ series of novels. Set in the state of Wyoming in America, this particular franchise features the love lives of five brothers, as they live and work on the Double-C Ranch. Overcoming hardships and dealing with many different obstacles, they cope with the everyday rural life, along with their various romances.

Running for over twenty novels between the years of 1998 and 2015, this was a series that had a lot of life in it. Set within the ‘Double-C Ranch’ this also had a spin-off series with the ‘Return to the Double-C Ranch’ line that was also equally popular. Being one of her most highly regarded and successful series to date, this manages to encapsulate much of what Leigh is about as an author.

Stay…

Originally published in 1998 on the 1st of March, this was the book that started it all off, as it introduced the Double-C Ranch for the first time ever. Working as the first in the ongoing ‘Men of the Double-C Ranch’ series, this was the title that set it all up and established it all. Brought out through the Silhouette Books publishing label as well, its status as a firm fixture on the romance literary scene was secured.

For many of Allison Leigh’s more regular readers, they’ll notice that this is a return to familiar territory for the author. Providing a lot of her signature themes and ideas for which she has become famous, it takes the tropes of the romance novel and turns them on their head, whilst keeping it light and entertaining. Not only that, but the narrative is engaging, keeping the reader fully invested in the characters and their course throughout the novel. The characters themselves are extremely well drawn too, with the relationship between the both of them feeling real and organic. With love blossoming between them, Leigh manages to make the chemistry feel alive too, something which jumps off the page for the reader. Jefferson Clay, the leading male protagonist, feels more than a two-dimensional love interest too, as he has a fully developed personality. The same can be said of Emily Nichols, the woman of his affections, as she also comes to life over the course of the novel too. Set in the state of Wyoming as well, it really manages to provide the perfect backdrop for much of the action too. With a large and expansive rural setting, it really evokes the feeling of love between them both, making the ideal romantic location.

Following ten long years away, Jefferson Clay has returned and he has a torture and tumultuous past behind him that’s fraught with pain. Not only is he a different man, but so is Emily Nichols who used to be a small tomboy growing up, but has now matured into a beautiful woman. Loving him from afar for as long as she could remember, Emily wants Jefferson stay with her, as she tends to his wounded past. Can he overcome his pain, though? What secrets does he hold? Will he stay…?

The Rancher And The Redhead

Initially brought out in 1998 on the 1st of November, this was released not long after the publication of the first novel. Providing another romance it carries on in much the same vein as the previous title, whilst working as a stand-alone novel for the more casual reader as well. Published through the Silhouette publishing house once again, this manages to bring some twists and turns of its own too.

Similar to the previous novel, this provides another stand-alone romance for the reader, giving them a sense of escapism in the process. It also allows them to become fully invested in the world once again, as well as allowing newcomers into the franchise just like before. This means it is a story that provides an engaging and interesting set of characters who act not only as family to each other, but the audience as well. The characters themselves are also well crafted once again too, much like the previous novel, as they also stand out from the rest. Making their mark, they have their own idiosyncrasies and personalities, allowing them to make a much more unique story. Acting as the perfect foil for each other too, they really challenge each other, something which becomes a lot more prominent as the narrative goes on. Bringing Wyoming to life once again too, Leigh really capture the romance of the rural life, making it ideal for the leading couple throughout. Understanding the location, Leigh really makes the most of it, allowing the action and the romance to blossom between the two of them.

Being an upright and sturdy individual for his entire life, Rancher Matthew Clay has always been a solid figure within the ranch. That is when Jaimie Greene turns up out of nowhere and he soon finds himself driven to distraction by her beauty and charm. Being a girl from the city, though, it seems that she’s out of her element on the ranch itself, but she’s still determined to prove herself to him. Will they become an item? Can she prove herself? What will become of the rancher and the redhead?

The Men of the Double-C Ranch Series

Like much of Allison Leigh’s work that has previously come before, this sees her managing to take the romance genre and make it her own. Growing over time, the readers really get a feel for the development of this small community and each of their respective lives. This is something that’s expected to continue for some time yet, as the series grows from strength-to-strength with more and more readers discovering it every day.
