Michael Blake was an American published author and screenwriter. He is best known for his novel turned into a movie, titled Dances With Wolves. He received an Academy Award for his work as part of the book’s adaptation into a movie for the Best Adapted Screenplay. The 1990 movie would net 7 awards from the Academy.
Blake was born on July 5, 1945. When he was younger, he lived in Texas with his family. This consisted of his parents and his three brothers. The family ended up deciding to move to the state of California. Even though they lived in the southern area, they also did end up moving quite a bit.
Blake began writing for the first time while he was serving in the Air Force. While stationed at his base, he wrote for the newspaper on the base. He would later go to the University of New Mexico and study journalism. Later he would go to Berkley, California, and study at film school. He would also go to Eastern New Mexico University, located in Portales.
Blake relocated to the city of Los Angeles during the end of the seventies. When the eighties arrived, he finally had some success with his screenwriting. That is when his screenplay ended up being produced. It was called Stacy’s Knights. The movie would end up starring major actor Kevin Costner. Costner liked Blake’s work and encouraged the author to keep on writing.
Kevin would also introduce him to various people in Hollywood that were key players. The result of this networking and new friends would end up creating the adaptation of his novel, the now famous Dances With Wolves. Kevin also requested that he would write the screenplay for the movie that was base on his own book.
Blake would keep on writing and also pursued humanitarian work. He passed away on May 2, 2015 after enduring a lengthy illness in Tucson.
Michael Blake is the creator and the author of the Dances With Wolves series. The first book in the series first became available to readers in 1988 and carries the same title as the fictional series. The sequel would be released a bit later in 2001. It is titled The Holy Road. It was a huge hit and the first book, as mentioned, was adapted into a full length Hollywood film that did quite well.
Dances With Wolves is the first novel in Blake’s series by the same name. If you are looking for an exciting and dramatic story that is totally unique, check out this debut story for yourself! You’ve got to catch all of the action and read this story for the first time on your own before seeing the hit movie.
John Dunbar is the main character in this story. He’s having a unique year as he has been given the orders to hold down an army post that has been abandoned. As a result, the man found himself out in the middle of nowhere all on his own.
He knows that he is well past the point of civilization’s edge. As far as he’s concerned, this is the end of the earth. But things soon grow more dangerous when survival becomes a priority over guarding an abandoned post as thievery becomes the name of the game.
He was forced to move to an Indian camp. It is there where he starts an adventure that is quite dangerous in its nature. Little does he know that the events are going to change his life and nothing will ever be the same. Packed full of adventure and with tons of descriptive beauty and action, check out this novel for yourself and then watch the hit movie!
The Holy Road is the second novel in the Wolves series by author Michael Blake. If you are looking for a classic American story that you won’t soon forget, this sequel to the debut novel is the way to go! The first book was a global best seller, and the modern classic led to this second novel being composed.
In this second installment of a masterful story, Blake is at it again and continues the saga that he started with the publication of the first. It has been 11 years in total that have gone by, and Lt. John Dunbar has since been transformed into an official Comanche warrior.
Now he is known as ‘Dances With Wolves’ and he has even gone on to take a wife. His wife is called ‘Stands With A Fist’ and was a woman that was born originally to the white people. She was raised to be a part of the Comanche from early on, all the way back to being a young child.
Things have turned out well for her, however, and they have had three children together since their marriage. Now they all live together and share their lives as part of the Ten Bears village. Even though things have never been better, the pair know that things are not as peaceful as they may seem.
There is a feeling of unease steadily moving through the air. Now they are hearing reports that are growing, all of them concerning confrontations that have turned violent with the white soldiers. The fights are breaking out for a very significant reason, though, as the soldiers want to be able to drive the tribe onto the reservations to live.
Tensions are running high. But quiet conditions soon turn to horrific situations and then anger when a group of rangers come to the village. They descend out of nowhere and kill half of the people that live there. They also kidnap his wife and their baby daughter too.
When they leave, the village is devastated. Only three of the great warriors have survived. They decide that they will go find the white men and go to battle with them. However, Dances must do what he can to track down his family– his wife and his infant child.
In a race against time, can he find them and save them before it is too late? Pick up this amazing second book in the series by Michael Blake and read to the last page to find out for yourself!

I have been meaning to read The Holy Road. It should be a movie even if the iron is no longer hot.
