Michael Chatfield is a UK born Canadian writer of fantasy, science fiction, and thriller stories. He has penned several amazing novel series in his career and is particularly famous for writing the Ten Realms series, Death Knight series, Emerilia series, and the Rise of the Free Fleet series. The books of all these series are widely popular for their rich content, exciting storylines, wonderful plots, and intriguing characters. Chatfield is an army veteran, having worked for the Canadian Military on the post of an Infanteer. He uses his experience during this service to create realistic stories set in a fantasy world. Chatfield says that he was hooked by LitRPG and science fiction at a very young age. And after going through tons of research and reading he finally decided to try his luck in writing a story of his own in his favorite genre.

Whenever he begins a new novel, he thinks about and finalizes the characters first. Usually, he keeps throwing them in different situations to observe how they perform and then selects the ones that he thinks fits best in his story settings. Being a former army man, Chatfield loves to take long walks. He believes it gives him the peace of mind required to think about exiting stories all the time. He has visited several countries during his military service and has enjoyed working in each one of them. In his spare time, Chatfield loves to play video games and drink beer. Over the years, he has honed his skill of writing by coming up with character-driven stories. He says it gives him immense joy to see such stories working out their way as he progresses further in completing them.

After starting with Space Opera stories in the Hard Military and Free Fleet series, Chatfield moved on to write LitRPG stories in the Emerilia novels. As of now, he is working on the subsequent novels of the Death Knight and 10 Realms series. Author Chatfield hopes that readers enjoy reading his stories as much as he likes crafting them. He wants them to stay with him for all his future projects with the hope of giving them exciting stories to read one after the other. Chatfield has plans to create a few new series as well and has already started working on their first drafts. Critics mostly appreciate Chatfield’s works because of the heart-pumping action, realistic characters, and attention to detail that he provides in them. They feel that his novels create vast universities containing believable and lively characters and having depth in them that tend to attract readers from all corners of the world.

An exciting book series penned by author Michael Chatfield is known as the Death Knight series. It began in 2019 and the first five titles were released in the same year. Some of the principal characters created by Chatfield for this series include Anthony, Aila Wranoris, Tommie, Claire, Damien, and a few others. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘Skeleton with a Heart’. It was released as a Kindle ebook in 2019. This novel opens by mentioning that Anthony faced death in a war and was forgotten. Even the smallest mention of him was taken out of history books. He was known by many names, including the Tree Knight, Dragon Tamer, Order of Light member, Phoenix Rider, Fairies’ Friend, Guardian Legion Commander, Clan Spirit Champion, and Shadow Whisperer.

After resting in the dark for several centuries, Anthony was finally woken up by someone, who disturbed his nap. Aila Wranoris is introduced as an Underdark princess. She is usually found in the Stoha Mountains’ Northern reaches. Over the many centuries, the Dark Elves have maintained themselves at a distance from war. Because of this, the Beast-Kin and Humans have not indulged in a war activity in all this time. But recently, it has been found in the researches of the dark elves that there are mysterious ‘doorways’. Aila Wranoris is asked to undertake a journey through one of those doorways in the Southern region’s Deepwood. It is located between the lands of Selenus and Radal, which are under the control of the Beast-Kin and the humans respectively.

Aila’s journey takes an adventurous turn when she wakes up the Death Knight, Anthony, by mistake. She discovers that this knight might have been hit on his skull multiple times. Also, a heart keeps beating inside his chest, which is a strange thing seen in a death knight. As the journey begins, Aila feels threatened by the antics of Anthony. She warns him to be in his best behavior to prevent herself from being freaked out. Aila asks him to wear armor so that his skeleton gets hidden under it. Only she knows that Anthony is all bones inside. Readers loved this book’s combination of interesting characters, fantasy races with cool abilities, etc. They found it to be quite energetic and engaging. Chatfield’s fellow writers praised him for coming up with this unique story and allowing them to enjoy it thoroughly.

Another amazing novel of this series is called ‘A Skeleton a Lich’. It was also published in 2019 as a Kindle novel. This book features the essential characters in the form of Claire, Tommie, Anthony, etc. Chatfield has set this novel in a fictional town called Dena. Initially, it is mentioned that Anthony and Claire share a colorful and storied past. Anthony took around one thousand attempts to ask Claire’s permission to go on a date with her. The others saw them as star-crossed lovers, genius and the fool, mage and knight, and the oddest couple of the world. Anthony continues to gather strength to tell Claire what his heart desires. But, every time she comes near him, he goes all blank and is unable to utter a single word.

Anthony thinks that Claire’s presence around him makes him nervous and prevents him from speaking his heart to her. They continue with their unusual love story in spite of the increasing dangers around them in Dena. With the recent mobilization of the armies of the beast kin and the humans, it becomes clear that war is going to break out soon. These two groups are not the only ones making their move. The Guardians have also started to return to Dena. One of those Guardians is on a mission and is making every possible move to succeed in it. He is a former Battle Mage and has the popularity of making the Drafeng utter her name with fear. As Anthony tries to control Claire and save her from not turning into something destructive, she keeps drawing bigger fireballs to through at the enemy army and destroy them. Just like the previous book, this book also keeps the readers interested until the last page.
