Michael G. Thomas is an English author. He was born in a place called Monmouthshire somewhere between England and Wales. The author’s intelligence manifested relatively early on.

And Michael definitely grew up to become a bit of a scholar. The author will be the first to tell you that he struggled to identify where he belonged in the employment pool. That might explain why he studied advanced computer engineering and then proceeded to pursue ancient history down the line.

And that isn’t even taking into account the author’s experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning. Though, despite the varied nature of his educational background, Michael G. Thomas always felt a special affinity for Greek Military history.

And for a while it looked like the author would make his mark on the historical fiction landscape. However, once his career as a professional writer kicked off in 2010, it was in science fiction that Michael made his mark.

It took less than a decade for the author to write more than two dozen novels, a feat that immediately cemented his place on the literary landscape, especially once his sales passed the million-copy mark.

Michael is most commonly associated with the Star Crusades series. It started as a relatively straightforward story that quickly expanded to encompass a multitude of spin-off series that include Star Crusader and Mercenaries.

And the saga has only continued to expand over the years, dragging more fans onto the Michael G. Thomas train. The author is frequently praised for his ability to blend science fiction with elements of historical fiction.

Michael makes effective use of his artificial intelligence and machine learning expertise to craft scientific concepts that are both outlandish and grounded. When he isn’t blending science fiction with historical fiction, Michael is experimenting with elements of horror and action.

His Zombie Dawn Trilogy, which he wrote in collaboration with his brother Nick Thomas, was a breath of fresh air for fans of Michael who thought they had a grasp on the extent of his creative abilities.

Of course, there is more to Michael G. Thomas than his publishing success. He is also qualified to teach Information Technology, though that particular field doesn’t hold much interest for him, not with all the time he injects into the substantial research he does into the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Military history from the Byzantine era.

If his literary and scholarly talents weren’t impressive enough, Michael G. Thomas is also a martial artist. He was part of the team that founded the Academy of Historical Fencing. Based in the United Kingdom, Michael runs the institute with his brother.

Their goal is to instill into their students expertise in the use of a variety of weapons and forms of combat. The pair emphasizes the use of long swords, spears, daggers, shields and everything in between.

They also provide courses on unarmed combat. Michael invests a notable amount of time into the Academy. Do not be surprised to find him on the floor participating in sparring matches with both synthetic and steel weapons.

+Legions of Orion

Things are looking up for ambitious minds looking to take advantage of the prospects in the distant Orion Nebula. Alliance scientists have made a discovery on the jungle world of Hyperion.

And if plans proceed as expected, a permanent spacebridge to Orion could be crafted. The last great expedition of note preceded and followed the colonization of Alpha Centauri.

But the number of military and civilian ships setting off for the Orion expedition suggests that this new undertaking might be the greatest experienced in history. Spartan and Teresa Morato have thrown their hat into the ring for this great adventure along with their son Jack.

The retired marines are now senior members of the Alliance and they will have a critical role to fulfill in the bold Alliance plan at play. When they discover buried machines and a derelict spacecraft, they do not immediately comprehend the magnitude of the events they have triggered.

The people who inhabited the first system the Alliance encounter where wiped out by an unknown enemy. And that enemy is looking to make war with the Alliance. It is a conflict the likes of which the Alliance has never faced.

They must decide whether they are ready to abandon the fortunes that wait ahead or risk everything in a fight they might not win. If the people of Centauri cannot forego their past conflicts and unify, they might not survive for much longer, not against their new relentless foe.

Legions of Orion is the first novel in the Star Crusades Nexus series which is itself a branch of the growing Star Crusades Universe. The book is primarily military science fiction.

Michael G. Thomas only provides a surface exploration of the sci-fi concepts in his story, this as opposed to his literary counterparts who are all too eager to delve into the minutiae of every military strategy and technological advancement.

+Siege of Titan

Spartan is an illegal pit fighter whose prospects are fast dimming. He was told to choose between incarceration and military service. The decision to join the Confederate marine corps finds him undertaking thirty weeks of intensive training.

If Spartan and his colleagues can become the powerful force into which they are being crafted, they will be sent to Proxima Prime, the biggest planet in the Confederacy.

Prime has devolved into a full-scale revolution. What started out as a series of suicide bombings is threatening to turn Spartan’s term of service into one of the most violent.

It will take every effort Spartan and his people can muster, not to mention all the warships and military transports in the area to keep the fires of conflict from spreading to Prime’s orbital naval station and the lands beyond.

When Spartan signed up, he didn’t know that his hands would hold the fate of an entire planet and its people.

Star Crusade is a massive sci-fi universe and ‘Siege of Titan’ is the first book in ‘Uprising’, a branch series of the Star Crusade saga. The book takes place at a time when humanity has spread across the galaxy and unified in an Alliance.

However, all the progress they have achieved so far is threatened by a group of fundamentalist with violent teachings.
