Michael Ledwidge is an American author of fiction. Born to Irish parents in the Bronx, he was born and raised in New York. He is a graduate of Manhattan College. He is also married and he and his wife have two children together.

Ledwidge published his first book in 1999 with the release of his book The Narrowback. He followed that up two years later with another fictional standalone novel titled Bad Connection. He followed that up with several more novels, including Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, The Quickie, Now You See Her and more.

He is the co-author of the Michael Bennett series along with bestselling author James Patterson. They started working together and the first book in the Bennett series came out in 2007. It was titled Step on a Crack. The second book came out two years later and was titled Run for Your Life. Then came Worst Case, Tick Tock, and more, with over eight novels in the series.

Fans of classic James Patterson’s novels will love this collaboration between James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. Now that he has been writing bestselling novels along with Patterson, Ledwidge has become a popular writer in his own right. Where before he used to be largely unread, now he is the co-writer of some of the most frequently read and purchased novels in the world. The money he’s made as a result has been enough to entirely change his life.

The series focuses on NYPD detective Michael Bennett and could be described as suspenseful thriller genre. Most of the books have Manhattan as a backdrop since Bennett works in New York. In the first book, Michael struggles to get his children to adjust to a tragedy when a crisis calls him into action and he has to manage a hostage situation.

Step on a Crack is the first book in the Michael Bennett series. Bennett is a detective for the N.Y.P.D. and readers have loved connecting with Bennett and catching up all the action ever since the debut of this novel! Michael is about to have one of the toughest holiday seasons of his life. So are his kids. He has ten adopted children and together they must take on the terrible loss of his wife and their mother Maeve.

Things aren’t going to be the same, and Bennett is focusing on making sure all of the kids are able to make it through. It’s his job to make sure that this Christmas is as good as it can be for all of them. But when a big crisis calls him away, it may not be a guarantee that the New York City cop is able to make it home for Christmas.

There is a funeral being held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for a former First Lady. Everything is going as planned when unknown men burst into the church and just like that, take everyone in attendance hostage. There are hundreds of people there, and Bennett is the one who gets the call to try and deal with it.

Jack is a sinister man who is running the hostage situation. He lets a lot of people go but keeps the more famous people inside. From there, he starts making his demands. Jack wants millions from every celebrity there. This includes an actor, the mayor, a talk show host, and pop star. It seems like this could be resolved without violence– until Jack decides to start killing.

It is then that Bennett realizes that for the first time in a while, he is up against someone that is truly psychotic. Bennett knows how it feels to lose someone that you love. If he doesn’t play this just right, some of those hostages are going to die and their children are going to be left without a mother or father to look after them too.

Can Michael stop Jack before it’s too late? Or is Jack destined to carry out his diabolical plan? With the loss of his wife fresh in his mind and a new conflict in front of him that could go horribly wrong, it’s up to Michael to try and save the day without getting blown away. From start to finish, this action novel from Michael Ledwidge never stops. Pick up Step on a Crack to find out what happens in this gripping story from two great authors!

Run for Your Life is the second book in the Michael Bennett series from Michael Ledwidge and James Patterson. Bennett is back and it seems that the city has no shortage of cases for him to tackle. A killer is on the loose that is taking out powerful and arrogant people specifically– the elite of the city. The serial killer has a name, too: he is called The Teacher.

The Teacher is an appropriate moniker, as the killer is clearly trying to send out a message to the people of New York to mind their manners. The rich are getting cut down and the entire city is in a frenzy. No one feels safe and the rich and the powerful of the city wonder whether they’re next and mentally run through how nice they’ve been in the past few months.

Detective Michael Bennett is called in to deal with this high-profile case. It’s critical that this killer is caught as he seems to be on a spree through the city that is going on unchecked. As if that weren’t bad enough, one of his kids caught the flu and now all ten of them have it. Can Mike care for all of his kids while tracking down a serial killer who preys on the powerful?

Bennett is doing his best to crack the code when he finds a secret pattern in the lessons left behind by The Teacher. Now he has only hours to save the city from what could be the biggest disaster to ever hit the Big Apple. Can he head disaster off, or will The Teacher pull off one last lesson? Pick up Run for Your Life by Ledwidge and Patterson to find out!
