Author Michael McBride lives in the Rocky Mountains’ shadow in Westminster, Colorado, which is where he has spent all of his life. This despite hating snow. You can McBride hammering away on his keyboard day and night, near cold and hot caffeinated beverages.

His work is from the genres of horror, thriller, and science fiction. Michael McBride has written the “Species” series, the “Snowblind” series, the “Unit 51” series, the “God’s End” series, and the “Necromancer” series. He has written many stand alone novels, as well. McBride’s debut novel “Species” was released in the year 2004.

Besides writing, he loves to read and is a hockey fanatic, who hopes to have season tickets near the glass at the home of the Avalanche, the Pepsi Center.

His biggest successes include meeting his gorgeous wife (who somehow overlooks his odd neuroses), and their five kids (who managed to inherit their mom’s looks and dad’s idiosyncrasies).

McBride’s alter ego works with medical radiation, something that should be at least a little mitigating.

“God’s End” is the first novel in the “God’s End” series, which was released in the year 2007. In the city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a young guy who is said to be the Second Coming has been locked away from the rest of the world. While the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse rush across the earth, and bring transformation and horrible destruction that no holy book could have ever predicted.

Phoenix, just learning about the world he has to save, starts leading humanity. The survivors, Phoenix and his new friends, have to bring about a new era on earth, or let it fall prey to God’s End.

Some found this to be quite realistic, and it was easy for them to imagine this happening for real. Fans of the novel were kept hanging on until the end and were stunned by McBride’s talent. This book has a lot more originality and the writing is more in depth than some readers believed it would. It has vibrant characters, detailed scenery, and a fast paced, intelligent, and creative story.

“Blizzard of Souls” is the second novel in the “God’s End” series, which was released in the year 2008. A former medic in the Army, a marine biologist, a kid that dreams of the future, and a young guy named Phoenix. Civilization fell, and the survivors were few and far between, the ones that were left are a motley crew. The threat of annihilation continues, and the remaining humans are starting to divide. It forces Phoenix and his buddies to defend their camp.

Death, along with his legions are putting together a last strike, as they are hungry to bring on total destruction. The final humans are going to do whatever possible to stay alive. God’s End seems more and more likely, as the survivors start turning on one another.

Here is a great sequel to the first book, as it keeps things rolling right along nicely. Fans of the novel found themselves reading this one straight through, not stopping until they were done with it. McBride was able to answer some questions, while posing others. Upon finishing this one, some are ready to get started on the next one in the series.

“The Trail of Blood” is the third novel in the “God’s End” series, which was released in the year 2008. It all changed when Phoenix and his buddies defended the camp against War and his own legions. Rage has consumed Phoenix and destroyed the formerly innocent boy that he once was. During the final battle, what’s left of humans are going to take on Death, will they be able to survive, though?

These books are simply incredible, and quite hard to put down. Each of the characters became a part of the reader as they read the books. Fans of the novel found this to be another well written story filled with a fascinating storyline and incredible characters. Readers could not stop themselves from reading until the very end of the story.

“Subhuman” is the first novel in the “Unit 51” series, which was released in the year 2017. In Antarctica, there is a research station with five of the world’s top scientists who have been brought together so they can solve one of human kind’s biggest mysteries. Their subject, though, is far from human.

Deep under the ice, there is the submerged ruins of a civilization that got lost that holds the key to the odd mutations that every scientist has encountered around the world. A skull that is misshapen in Russia. Some grotesque carvings of some lost race in the country of Peru. Some mummified remains of a humanoid in Egypt.

A sequence of sound waves trigger these ancient, and a new evolution starts. A long extinct life form comes back to life by latching onto any human host it can and crossbreeding with human DNA. This kind has not walked Earth for many centuries now. It has fiercer and more savage instincts than any other predator that is alive. The ones it is hunting are the very scientists that unleashed it. The humans who spawned it. And any of the tender living flesh that it feeds on.

Readers are constantly feeling as though they are in the book, reather than just reading it. It is due to the atmosphere that McBride is able to conjure up. He pays attention to even the most minute of details possible, and his research allows even for the most improbable scenarios sound like they could actually happen.

“Forsaken” is the second novel in the “Unit 51” series, which was released in the year 2018. Scientists found an odd and an ancient organism that they believed they could control, study, and classify. They were totally wrong.

Six months back, Unit 51 (a secret paramilitary team) was sent off to the station. They believed the nightmare to be over, and the creature was dead. It wasn’t.

In a temple in Mexico, archaeologists find remains of a half human hybrid. They think it is related to the creature found in Antarctica, the dark thing from legend that lives on and continues to evolve. They think that it needs a new host to feed on, to mutate, and to multiply. They are absolutely right. They are next, too. The human race could very well be on its way to extinction.
