Mike Wells is an American bestselling author of romance, young adult and mystery and thriller novels that have made him one of the most popular authors in those genres.

Some of his novels such as “Wild Child,” “The Wrong Side of the Tracks” and “The Mysterious Disappearance of Kurt Kramer” have been used by English teachers in colleges and high schools all over the world.

Before Wells became an award winning author, he used to work as a screenwriter, which perhaps explains why he writes in his cinematic past paced style. His work has often been compared to that of the legend Sidney Sheldon, which is high praise indeed.

He has become known for writing inspiring and strong female heroes in stories with numerous plot twists, engaging dialogue and action and tightly written scenes. Mike made his fiction writing debut when he published “Lilith,” the debut novel of the “Wild Child” series of novels. He now has more than a dozen novels to his name.

He now makes his home in Europe and has at some point taught creative writing at the University of Oxford.

Writing is something that Mike Wells always wanted to do as it was akin to a bird wanting to fly or a fish wanting to swim. He always feels a strong urge to write every day and this is something he has felt for as long as he can remember. As such, he does not rely on inspiration to write, as he knows he could never finish a book that way.

Still, he does get little shots of inspiration here and there but to get through the difficult moments of writing he has to depend on loving what he is doing. Some of the people who have been critical in the development of his career as an author include his family.

From very early on he remembers the sound of his mother typing away at the typewriter as she was a writer. His mother used to write short stories and from time to time, he would grab some printed stories that he would proceed to read.

Mike has also received much support from his wife who has over the years become one of the best developmental editors she knows. His mother in law who is a retired journalist has also been involved in his writing, as she shapes his marketing strategies, as well as the overall direction of his works.

Mike Wells published “Wild Child,” his debut novel, while he was in his early forties. He had the usual story to publication that involved a lot of rejections before he made it. He initially found an agent for his manuscript but all the big publishers rejected it as they could not classify it.

Mad at the publishers, he self published three thousand copies of the novel as this was in the 1990s when ebooks had not yet been invented. He ended up throwing everything in the trash as it was almost impossible to get any of them into the bookstores.

He was pleasantly surprised a few years later, when one of his friends told him that the novel was on sale on Amazon Kindle. It turns out that Wild Child was getting great reviews. Some person has found several copies from the trash and sold them at flea markets and garage sales across the US, and this is how resellers got them on Amazon.

He immediately saw the potential of Kindle publishing and published several of his manuscripts all at once and has never looked back since.

“Lust,” the first novel of the “Lust, Murder & Money” series of novels by Mike Wells is the story of Elaine, a young and impressionable girl. She is lured by the promise of becoming a model, which could lead to a lifestyle she has always dreamed about.

She pays thousands of dollars for training workshops, some more to a modeling agency and finally stands before Ronald Eskew, the owner of an agency. But she now realizes she had been conned as he demands sex before she is hired.

She is unwilling to compromise her principles and asks for her money back and is surprised when she gets offered $2000. Unfortunately, the money turns out to be counterfeit and her father takes the fall to keep her out of jail. When her father is investigated, it is found that he had been the one stealing from his employer for years.

Unable to take what is certainly going to be a very heavy sentence, he commits suicide. Distraught, Elaine vows to take down Ronald Eskew no matter what it takes.

Mike Wells’ novel “Money” continues to follow Elaine who is on a turbulent and very emotional journey. She is trying to move on from her ex boyfriend and has found a job at the treasury but cannot seem to forget the man. She still wonders about him, including what he was doing and if he was arrested.
At the treasury, she has reunited with Hene Lassiter who is an old friend who seems to have a very dodgy vibe to him. He had been introduced in the first novel and helped Elaine progress in her career with the secret service.

It is evident that there is something bad and dark coming and a sense of foreboding hangs over the air whenever he is around. The foreboding soon turns into something when Elaine is set up at work and has to flee from the Mafia.

She heads to Russia and soon lands in the hands of Giorgio Cattoretti. The man is a master manufacturer of knock off clothing that has since become one of the most proficient currency counterfeiters in the world.

“Murder” by Mike Wells is the story of Giorgio Cattoretti, a master counterfetiter who learned his trade with knock off clothing before graduating to money.
It was not easy getting to where he was, as he learned for half a dozen years to make his printing machine as similar as possible to the government one and get the same security lines, ink and paper just right.

The novel provides Cattoretti’s background story and tells of how he came from Italy with ambitions that could rival the American protagonist in “The Godfather.” But he was hit by reality when he arrived in the US and had to adapt after being thrown in jail and then sent back to Italy.

This explains his motivations against the US and many of his previous acquaintances. In this work, Elaine is unsure where her allegiances lie as she has over the years been betrayed by almost everyone she has had any kind of relationship with. Even the trusted Gene Lassiter who has been her boss had taken advantage of her.

As such, it is not a surprise that when Cattoretti makes his offer, asking her to consult on his money counterfeiting processes and product, she finds it hard to refuse.
