Minka Kent is an American author of fiction.

She has always wanted to be a writer and before she could even write her name had gotten started crafting stories. She has always loved the works of literature both classic and timely that deal with the dark and the twisted, in her own words.

She read Goosebumps and books in the fictional Fear Street series. When she got a bit older she finally started reading the works of Stephen King and all of his supernatural thrillers set in the every day goings on of small towns in Maine.

As she got older, she of course took in more books. Now she counts authors Caroline Kepnes, Chevy Stevens, and Gillian Flynn among some of her favorite contemporary writers as well as some of her greatest influences and inspirations.

Minka says that she has always had a certain curiosity about the idea of people who are good that go on to bad things. She says that she enjoys exploring that area and just what can happen when characters that are almost certainly larger than life enter into some unique and unprecedented situations, something that she recounts as ‘fascinating’.

She first became a published author for the first time with the official release of her first novel in print. It is titled The Memory Watcher. Minka Kent followed her debut novel up with the release of her second fictional novel, titled The Perfect Roommate. It was released in 2018., as were her novels The Thinnest Air and her fourth novel, titled The Stillwater Girls.

The Memory Watcher is the debut novel from accomplished author Minka Kent. This story starts out with the life of the main character Autumn Carpenter. Autumn gave up her daughter when she was born and this biological angel of hers was given to another family a long time ago.

Autumn one day finds that she has discovered an account on social media unlike any other– it’s special. That’s because it’s the social media account of a family that would have more meaning to her than any other on the planet Earth. They were the ones who adopted her baby girl all those years ago.

Now that she has found their social media, Autumn can’t help but to be drawn in entirely. She finds herself fascinated by everything about their lives. Everything about them is just so picture perfect that she cannot help being drawn to it from the very start. Finding this account was the best thing that she ever did, because she gets to see her daughter. The daughter that she gave up and thought that she would never get to see do anything on video is doing it all online, and she gets to see her again.

Autumn gets to live vicariously and actually feel like she gets to see her daughter once more. She gets to live all of the things that she thought she had given up forever. Such is the wonder of the modern age. The fascination started from the second she found this account, which was like ten thousand Christmas gifts rolled into one.

Now her life is not quite as empty as it would be because she gets her daughter back. She gets to turn on that screen and see her daughter (now named Grace) experience everything from blowing out the candles on a cake on her birthday to going to sleep and holidays. It’s all too much and at the same time it is an instant addiction that Autumn would never voluntarily give up. This is like her drug and she is hooked and will do anything to get that fix.

However, the McMullen family decides to take that away from her one day and Autumn never saw it coming. She has no idea what hit her and just like that, her access to her child and everything about her past and present memories is totally revoked. Autumn is locked out and the Instaface account that gave her a chance to connect with her daughter and feel close to her is gone.

The account was closed and there was never so much as an indication given before the fact that they were going to do so. Autumn is devastated. But the thing is, she’s gone too far to give it all up now. Autumn has found that she cannot live without her daughter Grace– even if she is technically the daughter of another family now. The one she’s been watching. The one that she cannot give up.

Autumn wants to connect with her daughter and so hatches the perfect plan. She is going to try to be a nanny as the McMullens have a position open. She will be able to be part of Grace’s life and be near her, even if it’s done under a lie. But then Autumn finds out that maybe the perfect family doesn’t really exist.

It may just be that all of this was for social media. This beautiful family and these beautiful people may be hiding some of the most unattractive secrets. Was it all a lie? What will Autumn do next? With her relationship with her daughter and even potential jail time on the line, this mother must figure out what her next move is in a chess game that has already gotten far too complicated.

Want to find out what happens next? Then pick up The Memory Watcher by Minka Kent to find out! This book has also been optioned by NBC Universal and UCP with others attached to produce it.

The Perfect Roommate is the second novel by author Minka Kent. If you love books that are in the mystery-thriller genre, then you’re going to really enjoy this fast paced story.

Roommates are supposed to know things about each other if they’re close. That’s just how things work. Told from the main point of view from the character Meadow, readers are in for a wild ride when it comes to this story from Kent.

Meadow knows her roommate inside and out. She knows the way that she takes her tea, what she likes to have for breakfast, the phone password, and more. Meadow knows everything about her and what she does on Mondays and Fridays. But does she know her the way that she thought that she did? Read The Perfect Roommate to find out!
