Mollie Hardwick is an author known for her novels. She is known for writing novels that were meant to go along with Upstairs, Downstairs, a series on English television. She is also the author of The Cedar Tree, a two part television series.
Mollie was born on January 1, 1916. She has written many novels and also penned plays. Many of them were based on the Sherlock Holmes stories and she wrote a t.v. series of the character’s name that aired in the sixties.
She married her husband in 1961, also an author. She passed away on January 1, 2003.
Mollie Hardwick is the creator and author of the Doran Fairweather series. The fictional series of novels kicked off in 1986, which is when the debut story was published. It is titled Malice Domestic. She came out with a second novel the year after, a sequel that was titled Parson’s Pleasure. There are multiple novels in this series to read and enjoy!
Malice Domestic is the first novel in this series. If you love stories that are full of drama or enjoy putting your mind up against an engaging fictional world, this may be a good series for you to check out!
Meet the main character of Doran Fairweather. She is a young woman that has the entire world ahead of her. We all make mistakes sometimes, especially when it comes to the complicated and tempestuous affairs of love. So it is with Doran, who found herself in a love affair that was destined to go utterly and totally wrong in the end.
Now that the love affair has gone from good to bad, she’s doing everything that she can to try and heal her heart. It isn’t easy, but this young woman has no choice but to start over and try to put herself back together so that she can move on and be happy.
Luckily, being happy is something that comes easy to her now. She has moved to a tiny village in Kent county and her new life there is really amazing. She cannot believe that she got so lucky; some people find that they try to start over and there is nothing for them there. Maybe it was a good thing that she started falling and then it all went south.
At least it led to Doran being here, and things are going quite well in her attempt at starting over. She has moved her business of antiques here and it’s also defying the odds in that it is thriving. That was a big part of her anxiety. At the same time, she’s enjoying a romance with a younger vicar and finding that their relationship is really nice.
While she’s enjoying a new potential suitor and all of love’s fresh possibilities, Doran does not see how anything could go wrong. The vicar is actually just great to be around and she is liking spending all of this time together. It’s a refreshing change from the way that her old relationship used to be, that is for sure.
Now things have taken a slight change as a stranger has come to town. His name is Mr. Mumbray, and from the second that he comes to the tiny town, it is a bad fit. He just has an energy about them that has a malignant feeling, something bad that everyone instantly notices. All of the people in the village have an instant response to him that causes them either to cringe, or become ill, or just to want to get out of his way and presence entirely.
There is something evil about this man, Doran just knows it. She just has to look at the way that her new neighbors are reacting to this guy. It couldn’t be the fact that they just don’t take well to outsiders because at the end of the day, everyone in that town accepted her and took her for who she is. That does not seem to be happening here at all.
While everyone senses that the bad energy that this individual has either brought with him or carries inside his very soul, it is just Doran and her friend the vicar that are willing to confront the reality of the situation. They know that this evil is coming into all of their lives, and they’re going to have to do something big to defy it.
They may just stand alone against this dark force, but that’s going to be just fine with them. The new girl in town is paired up with a religious man of the lord, and they are about to go take on the threat together. Unluckily for the two of them, chaos and death have appeared in the town and aren’t about to simmer down anytime soon.
With destruction on a rampage through the town, it’s up to Doran and her new interest to take on this evil force. They’re squaring up for a fight with the stranger, but do they have what it takes to make it through the fire without getting burned by it?
You’re going to have to pick up this book to find out for yourself! Check it out at a local library or bookstore and find out whether the pair can thwart this odd and horrible presence in the town that they love.
Parson’s Pleasure is the second novel in this delightful series. If you loved the first, then you’ll certainly enjoy the sequel, which is packed full of twists and turns.
Doran is back, and this time she’s got a partner. When they show up one day holding a clock in their hands that appears to be rare, she has questions. Their explanation is not good enough and so she decides that she’s going to have to bring it back.
She’s traveling with her vicar friend, but will they find that a warning from a gypsy will throw them off? As the meaning becomes clear, the two will face new dangers in their quest to fight evil and save the place that they call home. Read this book by Mollie Hardwick to find out what happens in the end!
