Molly Harper is an American author specializing in paranormal romance series, having published her first official set in 2009. The paranormal romance author was born in Kentucky, where she also grew up. She also spent a significant part of her young life in Mississippi. As the story goes, an eight-year-old Molly would sit down in her “writing office” to write stories of her own imagination. According to her mother, Molly Harper started writing at a tender age. However, she developed her passion for paranormal romance stories later on in her life.
Having developed a passion for wring, Molly Harper decided to pursue a course in Print journalism at Western Kentucky University (She did not deem book writing as a reliable career, thus settling on newspaper writing). After graduating from university, Molly got a job at her hometown newspaper and went ahead to marry her former schoolmate, David. He was a police officer who would work on night shifts, making it hard for both of them to focus on the family. As a newspaper writer, Molly could also not find enough time for their little baby due to the workload.
Due to the situation at hand, Molly decided to relinquish her career as a reporter and humor columnist at the Paducah Sun in order to get a flexible job as a secretary in a local church. Her career as a journalist was successful and it ran for 6 years before she decided to relinquish it. Molly’s new job provided more time for her family, as well as enough time in the evening to focus on writing and other things. As an ardent fan of vampire movies and TV programs, Molly Harper finds enough time to imagine new story lines for her many books to come.
Molly Harper writes her books as series. She started with the “Nice Girls Series” in the year 2009. Molly published her first book in this series in 2009 and finished with the last one in 2012. The next series (Half Moon Hollow Series) started in 2011 before the end of Nice Girls Series with the latest release being in November 2015. Fanatics also know the Half Moon Hollow Series as Nice Girls Spin-off Series. This series has more books than other story lines that she has written.
“Naked Werewolf Series” also make up some of Molly’s most admired works, with three interesting books. Molly introduced the inaugural book to her readers in 2011 and the last one in 2013. The “Bluegrass Series” followed thereafter with three books, the first one in 2011 and the last in 2014. Molly Harper has also written two books that do not belong to her popular series. The books are- “And one Last Thing” introduced in 2010, and “Better Homes and Hauntings” introduced in 2014.
Molly Harper’s Vampire Series
Molly Harper has written four series in total since the year 2009. She wrote her stories in an overlapping fashion. At times, she would start a new series while still going on with another story line. Therefore, she spreads most of her stories over a couple of years. She wrote her first series in 2009, and went on with it up until February 2012. During this period, she had already written four books on the first series: Night Girls, and started another one known as Half Moon Hollow Series in December 2011. It was her trend to play around with stories from various realms to attract a broader readership.
Half Moon Hollow series was her hugest task as she wrote eight books in total. Unlike in her first series, Molly Harper decided to play around with diverse headings as she tried to be unique in her approach. Her second series covered a period of four years and its latest book launched in November 2015. The series might still go on due to its latest release, making it her longest running story line. As typical with her style, Molly Harper also started another series named- Naked Werewolf while still carrying on with other stories. This series launched in February 2011 and ended in December 2013. Molly Harper wrote a sequence of three romantic books under this interesting series.
Molly’s final series is Bluegrass, which has three books and launched in the year 2012. The author ran this story line up to September 2014 when she decided to end it. Apart from her stories under the four series, Molly Harper also wrote two other famous books. However, the stories were still under her favorite theme, which is paranormal romance. She has improved her stories and depth of imagination over the years much to her fans’ excitement.
Over the years, Molly Harper’s work has received a lot in terms of accolade. She has a growing fan base with many readers increasingly following on her works. One of her outstanding series is Naked Werewolf, which has received recognition from “Romantic Times”, by becoming a “Top Pick”. In addition to this, the Naked Girl Series has also received recognition from Romantic Times becoming a popular story line among readers.
Publishers Weekly has also honored Molly Harper’s Nice Girls Series, specifically picking “Nice Girls Don’t Bite their Neighbors” as a favorite. Molly’s “Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs” is also an honored work after receiving a positive review from “Booklist”. “USA Today” is another notable reviewer that has recognized Harper’s works over the years. Television shows have featured Molly’s books as well as other organizations, which recognize her unique approaches towards fiction. The writer has developed her fan base especially among young people who are enthusiasts of vampire stories like herself.
However, it is worth noting that Molly Harper’s works also receive negative criticism such as “And One Last Thing”. The book got a generally negative review from “Publishers Weekly”, regardless of acquiring a generally positive review from Booklist and Romantic Times. The generally positive review of her books is enough reason to describe Molly Harper as a successful paranormal romance author of her time. The latest release (Fangs for the Memories) in November 2015 is a continuation of one of her longest series: Half Moon Hollow. As it is a new book, it has not yet received enough critics to determine its market reception. Nevertheless, the release of this latest work shows that the author is still going on with her story lines and that there could be more to come from her in the future.

I totally love Molly’s writing & listen to the ones I have on audible
& my daughter enjoys listening to the stories too. I enjoyed
One Last Thing so much I bought a paperback copy & had it
sent it to my sister so she can enjoy read it too. My daughter
said to my sister that she’ll really enjoy it & my sister said that
it sounds good though I’m waiting to hear if she’s finished
it yet! I’m hoping MHW will continue writing her brilliant books
Molly Harper’s books are in a league of their own! The humor and wit that spices up well written romance is something i have found nowhere else. The characters are funny, irrational, and just plain relatable. Every book that I have read or listened to has had me giggling hysterically out of nowhere, causing many people waiting at the bus stop to turn and stare. Thank you to the person writing this website, as this is now a bookmarked site. Might i suggest also adding an audible link?
Thank you for the feedback Meridee, much appreciated 🙂 We’re looking into adding Audible although want to make sure we can list accurate availability. For now if you go through the links to Amazon you can purchase via Audible there.
I, too am addicted to your books- makes my 4 mile daily walk something to look forward to- and not to dread. The wit, the quickness, the references to southern hospitality- priceless!
Don’t stop writing!!
I am addicted to the characters you created in the Mystic Bayou series. Your writing is so witty, funny, and suspenseful. The relationship between Zed and Baile is a riot. I keep hoping my a Hollywood producer will approach you with an offer to make a movie.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your southern eclectic books, especially And One Last Thing! I have recommend them to friends and we have listened to them again and again on Audible. In this difficult time in our world, your books have been a comfort because we can laugh out loud at your southernisms. Thank you for writing them and I hope there are more in the future.
