About Monica Arnaldo

Early and Personal Life

Growing up in Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, Monica Arnaldo would always be highly creative while growing up. Using her imagination a lot, she would find herself drawn towards storytelling, as well as drawing, which would turn into her illustrations. This would allow her to combine both of her creative interests, using them together as she would find her voice as a children’s author.

Working on her style and approach to the format of the children’s storybook, she would find her own unique take on the genre. Making her books very much her own, she would create her own niche, which would see her go on to reach a worldwide audience. Living in Montreal in Quebec, Canada, she lives with her husband and their daughter, as she continues to write to this very day.

Writing Career

The first book to come from Monica Arnaldo was back in 2014, as she would publish her debut children’s novel ‘Arto’s Big Move.’ This would see her make a name for herself, as she would go on publish many more books in a similar vein, illustrating them herself too. Not creating any series, she would produce stand-alone titles, allowing them to work by themselves with self-contained stories.

It was her distinctive art style that would also capture the attention of many readers, as it would be immediately identifiable to Arnaldo. This has seen her become hugely successful with younger readers from all over, as the books are easy to relate to. Maintaining a presence both online as well as off, she writes regularly, speaking about her craft, with plenty more books planned.

Time For Bed’s Story

Initially brought out through the ‘Kids Can Press’ publishing imprint, this would first come out in 2020 on the 1st of September. Not being a part of any overall series as such it would tell a singular story, bringing the story to life with bright colorful visuals. There’s a lot here for young readers to enjoy, with a strong central message championing compassion and empathy.

This is a clever book with a lot to offer the reader, making the most of its intriguing premise and saying something important in the process. Young readers will definitely appreciate everything that it has to offer, making for a fun and engaging first book. The illustrations are also well done, being extremely bright and lively, capturing the essence of the story throughout.

Considering children’s strong disliking of bedtime, this book takes a look at this relationship from the bed’s point of view. Looking at how much the bed doesn’t like it’s role either, it teaches young readers about respect and empathy, seeing the situation from another point of view. Finding a mutual understanding and agreement, it features bright and colorful illustrations to really bring the point home. Understanding communication is central to the premise of the book here, and finding common ground is what really makes the story come together.

Little Brothers and Little Sisters

First published on the 15th of April in 2018, this originally came out through the ‘Owlkids’ publishing label. Providing another picture book from Monica Arnaldo, this offers more bright and colorful storytelling from the imaginative author. Taking the reader on a journey, it’s a fun and inventive picture book, all of it illustrated by Arnaldo herself.

Funny and highly entertaining, there’s a lot of humor and heart to this story, as it really has an in-depth understanding of its subject matter. The story is great for young children with siblings, helping them form stronger connections between them all. It’s a useful book for parents to read with their children as well, imparting ideas and values that really leave a strong impression on the audience.

The story itself features four pairs of siblings, as they come together to really help each other, learning and understanding one another. Playing together, they find a chance to shine, as the story itself takes place within and around a modern apartment complex. Dealing with the trials and tribulations of contemporary life, they work together to overcome the many pitfalls in their way. Looking at the relationships and connections between the siblings, this helps children understand and make the most of them.
